Tell us who's going, chat about meet ups and chat about the show afterwards.

Again, I'm there. Can anyone recommend some cheap motels as close as possible to the venue?

I shall be attending, Section 10, front row.
And I'll be getting my tickets for the October 11th gig on Friday, and I'll be in the pit, since I'm pretty sure it's unlicensed that night. That's what the Ticketmaster website said.
I can't wait!

Oh, and The Empirical Guy, I'm not quite sure about cheap motels, maybe just browse the internet. :S

Anyone going to the October 11th gig should meet up with Ben and I at the door early so we can have some company while we wait. :)
Hopefully we get Door 4.

If you want to stay close to the city/close to Southern Cross station (where you come in from the airport etc)/close to casino/etc then a great place is Hotelenterprize(.com.au).
Awesome place to stay (rooms are really good), awesome location and very cheap!

Ben and I got our tickets for the October 11th show this morning! We got a shitty door, but oh well, we're still excited! 3 months to go.

How does what door you have affect things? I have floor tickets and it says door 11. Is this good/ bad?

Well Doors 4 and 5 are the closest to the pit...well, the barrier. Doors 6 and 11 are at the back of the pit, on the other side of the venue, therefore you're less likely to get a good spot.
It's alright if you can run fast or shove people out of the way though. ;P
It's just odd becasue they usually give away tickets for Doors 4 and 5 first, unless they've changed around.

Still deciding whether I should try and do melbourne as well..

How big is the venue?

Celiny-O
07-14-2009, 12:14 AM
^ Fairly large. It's not massive, like an arena, and it's not small, like a club/bar.
The show on the 10th has sold out and the floor for the 11th has also sold out, but the seating at Festival Hall is fairly good.
If you're over 18, then you'd be able to go on the balcony or sections 9 & 11 in the seating, although if you got seats up the back, that would be pretty shit.
If you're under 18, then you would go to sections 10 & 12. Again, the seats up the very back wouldn't be fantastic, but closer to the front would be pretty good.

Can any Melbournites tell me what the security is like at the venue? What are they like with getting stuff inside ie; what are my chances of getting a standard camera in? Do they allow it, if not do they pay you down or use metal scanners or something?

Manson in 2007 at Festival hall was a tad weird on security. No digital cameras due to batteries, people could throw them etc. You can take a bag in but obviously they check it. You can use a disposable camera or your phone if you're that desperate to film/photos. You cannot take in handycam's HD cameras etc. You will get busted and fined. I saw someone get busted by security at the 07 show for that

Thanks for the heads up, I won't be bothering trying to take photos during the show, I'd just like to have a camera on me in case I get a chance to meet any of them after the show. My phone camera is crap, but I should be getting a new one soon anyway.

If I remember correctly I will be waiting on door 6 for the pit on the 10th. Anybody wish to wait with me? I'll be all cold and alone :(

Should we make a thread for the gig on the 11th? Or should we just discuss it in this one?
Anyway...who else is going on the 11th? :P

AHHH I can't believe they played Devour!! That was just so fucking amazing, and I was right there front and centre the whole show up to the encore.

Really this show just shat all over last time they were here in 2007. Amazing stuff. Better stage show with more costumes, confetti cannons, the falling "ash/ black snow" effect (which I didn't realise until seeing it in person, appears to be made from little squares of cut up film, nice touch) and the banners that dropped for Swastika. Just a fucking awesome show, and I have two more to go!

Pretty funny when Manson's guitar fell off it's strap during Dried Up and he just threw it behind him. I also can't believe he threw a mic in to the crowd.

Of course, anyone who knows me has gotten my story from last tour on not being able to see Ginger during the show. Had a great view the whole time, and FUCK that man can play. He's easily the most impressive drummer I've ever watched.

Just very very impressive. I'm sore and tired, having just gotten back home to Sydney so that's it for now, but really this is when I have to say WOW. So excited for the next show.

Afterwards I met this guy outside who was tripping his balls off as he'd taken a bunch of pills and didn't know where he was. I offered to help him but he just wanted to stay there until he sobered up in case someone he knew came looking for him. Did anyone else meet this guy or know who he was? I hope he made it back alright.

Also, Stoya is way prettier in real life than in photos.

The most painful part of the concert was putting up with a bitch who constantly pulled my hair because "Manson loved her more" and that I didn't deserve alot of the things I caught in the pit =/

I tried taking a couple of photos but they didn't come out. However, I did find this written on the door of the venue when I got there.

We're From Australia?

That is epic. The Falcon has flown across oceans just to watch over the proceedings.

If only I could spread my wings and make it to the Sydney shows as well...

Brilliant performance. The merch prices were ridiculous though. I bought the hoodie, Arma...geddon t-shirt and the keyring, and it ended up to be $190AUD altogether.

The Empirical Guy
10-12-2009, 12:02 AM
What was ridiculous was the location of the merch stands. Up at the back of the seating areas? How was that meant to help us down in the front row? Nevermind, I'll be getting mine at the hordern show.
