Really Really not a fan of stuff like Steve Vai, mindless wankery, no soul or emotion. I thought I didn't like it the way I didn't like classical when I was 12.
Nope, I should have given myself more credit, it's boring music with no message or artistic value (to me). It's just flashy sounding guitar music. That'll do for Steve! he has nothing more magnificent in his soul than a desire to dazzle with his fretboard skills & knowledge of harmonics. Plus he writes a song about scoring and calls it "Tender Surrender".
He does a largely instrumental album and calls it "passion and warfare". He charges hundreds of pounds for fans to meet him before shows. He charges tens of thousands to make appearences at colleges. When he plays onstage, he gurns like he wants to fuck himself in the arse for being so good.
The fella is incapable of making anything that stirs me, and yet he obviously considers himself some sort of god - newsflash Steve, you can't write tunes that speak to people's souls & you can't write ones that get their arses moving either, that's why you play academy sized venues 40 years into your career - yet think you're big enough to charge people hundreds just to meet you?
Fuck off you soulless, crass individual. For all your technical expertise, you have never managed to write anything as good as the riff from "One Hundred Years" by The Cure, which is pretty much just one note bent again and again by an alcoholic who's only been playing for 2 years
HOWEVER
The PIL album he did was good & so was "Feed my Frankenstein", so credit where credit's due

I really like Iron Maiden (up until 1992 on record), but they are cheese on toast, I can't really defend them, it's a bit like eating mussels - they taste excellent & and are undoubtedly one of the finer things, but they are still disgusting
ACDC I love also (black ice tour kicked ass!), but it's a similar thing, all their songs are about
- getting drunk
- getting a boner
- kicking off with some wanker
HOWEVER, the whole "every song sounds the same" is ignorant, nightprowler sounds fuck all like back in black, neither sound anything like for those about to rock or it's a long way to the top, and so on
The truth of the matter is they have FIVE songs, and every song since falls into one of those 5 categories... but guess what, bob dylan only has two and Radiohead only have four...
Highway to Hell is a varied album within it's own sphere anyway, each track has enough of a contrast to the last to prevent it being too samey. I think that's the one album they did that transcends their back catalogue, one of the best, most defiantly & almost jubilantly self destructive albums ever, up there with antichrist superstar, raw power, ziggy stardust, lust for life, the idiot, the holy bible, in utero, new york dolls etc etc
And yet somehow it doesn't get the chinstroking art school kudos most of those albums get? Most likely due to their subsequent unparalelled track record of lad rock.
Oooook... it sounds like i'm saying they're the velvet undergrond or something, I don't mean that

An to add to that list-
Combichrist and about 90% of those dime a dozen Metropolis Records bands. And a lot of hair metal, most of it in fact. And modern R&B. I can't stand it. From Aaliyah to Usher to Chris Brown to that girl he beat who had nude pics a few months ago.
And probably that original emo hardcore band from the 80's who influenced emotional hardcore that spawned lots of music today.
And just to lump it in one big pile of shit- I'll go to say that most popular radio music in the 9-10 years.

I only wish SP didnt exist so they're fans would stop telling us about how Manson ripped them off. Like no one ever used stilts before Skinny Puppy. I've only ever heard "Too Dark Park" and the song "protest". TDP was terrible! I couldnt stand the man's voice, and the music was repetitive, boring, and trying way too hard to be dark & edgy. Protest was awesome as hell though :)
Ah, yeah I get tired of fans of any artist that constantly make comments such as that. I personally love their music, but I have to agree about TDP, can't get into it either. Pro-test I love and I owuld also suggest to you "pedafly", "rodent", and "useless"

There are many bands on some people's lists that can make me cry. I won't get into debate with you because I know that not everybody has the same musical taste than I do.
So, I'm ready to make some of you to cry:
-Reggaeton as a whole (The only type of music and subsecuent lifestyle I just cannot stand).
-Radiohead (Boring, repetitive, overrated...)
-Tokio Hotel.
In fact, you people would be surprised to know that some of the bands you listen were on my hate lists as well, but then I tried to listen to many stuff with an open mind and this is the result, I cannot think of more... of course I dislike things like mainstream pop, teenage-target music like Miley or High School Musica; but I understand that thoseproducts are not directed towards me so, I just act like thos things doesn't exist on my world.

To your comment about reggaeton being the worst genre, that is wrong. it indeed sucks hard but the worst is ska music.

Skinny Puppy are indeed hard to get into but damnit they're awesome. Just dig down further and you'll find some violent lyrics, great beats and some really weird shit. They're one of my favorite bands. You can't tell me you can't listen to Worlock and get blown away.
As for Skinny Puppy being a goth GaGa, nahhh they don't produce enough sexy lyrics. LUL.
My favorite SP tracks are Dig It, Spasmolytic, Worlock, DaddyuWarbash, haZe and Death.
And for the record, Too Dark Park is my fave album alongside Rabies.
As for fans of them, like myself, Manson did get some inspiration from them from his journalist days but nothing too in depth to "rip them off with."
This wasn't a defense but more like one proclaiming my love for them I guess? XD

Weird. The Process is amazing. Oh well.
I like Skinny Puppy, but I prefer the 'lighter' stuff and I like the newer album a lot. I don't like Rabies from what I remember to be honest. It's too abrasive sounding for me. Maybe I never gave it a chance though. I did it give it 2 chances though. I have the CD somewhere. I like stuff like VX Gas Attack much more but not so much the harsher stuff or where it's harder to understand the vocals.
The semi recent DVD is really awesome as well. I love it. The songs sound a bit better as well.

To your comment about reggaeton being the worst genre, that is wrong. it indeed sucks hard but the worst is ska music.
You say that, my friend, because you don't live where I live. In here, we used to grow up with an underground latin ska move that had some quality to offer. So, whenever people mention ska to me, it brings me fond high school memories, and I remember names of bands that I used to listen to a lot. In the end, ska is for me one of those strange cases in which I really feel like dancing.
And, since reggaetón is a new "inn" thing and its cultural consecuences are felt harder over here as well, then I just cannot do anything else ;)

Folk metal is not the same as Pirate Metal. Really, there aren't that many characteristics to say what's Pirate metal and what's not. One can make the argument that Running Wild is Pirate Metal, just because of it's lyrics. It's like Viking metal in the vein that the characteristics are depended mostly upon the lyrics. Either way, it sucks lol.

If hip hop and RnB didnt exist I wouldn't have had a childhood or something to chillax to when I'm not fighting the system :P
I agree with the statement that this thread will divide us all. And Hip hop belongs in Africa Not in America!! Americans rappers don't have next level shit at all.

I agree with the part about American Rappers are just plain american accents and they stay true to their African roots. So, yeah, HIP HOP belongs in Africa. And this is the next level shit FOKKERS!!!
Music I wish didn't exist:
Useless techno dance music and house stuff.

The more I'm exposed to Lady Gaga, the less I can stand her... altough I don't neccesarily hate her. It's just that general audiences seem so shocked by her, nowadays. People obviously forgot about Bowie, Cooper, Ozzy, Madonna and even Manson way too fast.
And please add Justin Bieber and "blinb-bling" hip hop and rap. What happened to real hip-hop bands like N.W.A. and Public Enemy?

I wish that Avril Lavigne had never existed. In my view, she paved the way and gave rise to all this sickening sweet teenybopper music that tries so hard to be rock and roll that exists today. If someone had jsut shaken thier head at Avril's contract before it got signed, we wouldn't have Ashley Simpson, Hilary Duff, Lindsey Lohan, Miley Cyrus, The Jonas Brothers, Justin Beiber, etc. But no, she got her chance to be the flavour of the week, and the people upstairs saw that she made money, so the rest of the music listening public has to deal with this avalanche of bullshit from now on.

I wish Paris Hilton's album never existed. I actually had the nerve to pirate and listen to it, and my ears were assaulted by the voice of a whiny coke-addicted hotel magnate heiress. I wish to Yog-Sothoth that the guy she had sex with in that porn video would have choked her to death with his dick.

To be fair, though Justin Bieber needs to burn in his own circle of Hell, he's not really the same as the other artists you mentioned. He's young and sweet and shit, but he's not this psuedo-rock stuff. He tries to be a mini-Usher, who sadly fnds this stupid Rugrat.

I'd normally bitch and moan about today's autotune-soaked, terrible hip-hop. But, I'd rather call bullshit on things that actually piss me off on a more personal level.
- Tough-guy metalcore. (examples include Pantera, Hatebreed, Job For A Cowboy...)
- "Cute" Goth. (MSI, Birthday Massacre)
- Blatant Whiny Liberalism in musical form. (u2, System of a Down, RATM)
- "quirky" hardcore (I wrestled a bear once)
- Cock Rock revival (Buckcherry, Axl Rose)

Mexicanfiend: I mean, the three bands you mentioned aren't as awful as some.
R.A.T.M. just needed to branch out more. They were great musicians and had too much potential for such predictable songs.... As for the lyrics, I respect their message for being passionate, but it's not my thing. System Of A Down is pretty much the same idea, from what I can gather... Pantera almost had it, and I like some of their slower, more moody songs. But they put so much emphasis on breakdowns and tough-guy imagery, and that influenced all of the wrong people. Then again, you can't really blame them for that.
Anyway, Cock Rock is a blanket term for any band the resembles the decadent 80's hard rock scene. Other terms with the same meaning are sleaze-rock, porn rock, and occasional hair metal.

^^ Nah! I was just saying... It surprised me to see such bands being mentioned because little people admit that they don't like them. Since they are some of the most respected hard-rock acts of the nineties, their names surely shined through the sea of "Lady Gaga, Soulja Boy, hip-hop, Justin Bieber, disney-whores" mentions. In the end everyone is entitled to their own taste and opinions, and anyone else should tolerate it.
And, I guess that Poison, Ratt, Mötley Crüe and the alikes may be considered as "cock rock", am I right?

I get what you mean (kind of) but I don't think its entirely fair to criticise those specific bands on their Liberal agenda when they've actually acted upon their beliefs in a very real way.
I mean, each of those bands has raised millions of dollars each to support various worthy causes (poverty, oppression, world aid...) in many regards.
I guess what I'm saying is, the criticism would be far better placed against a band that doesn't act upon the things they 'whine' about.

System of a Down and Serj Tankian cannot be described as blatantly whiny liberialism. You might as well call Green Day and several "punk" bands out for the same thing, because all they were doing with their albums is describe the absolute horror of waging a pointless war like George W. Bush waged, which well, has been revealed to be full of shit. Disregarding the horrible fact that Saddam Hussein was a genocidal maniac, George W. Bush had plans to invade Iraq even before he was elected to office, and I find that particularly heinous. Too many people I've known since we were children have died for nothing, so with people like Serj Tankian and SOAD bitching about the sort of shit that has been pulled the past 10 years, well, I can't help but agree with them.
Mindless Self Indulgence is not cute "goth" either. What the hell do you want from MSI? Do you want them to be like Marilyn Manson? I don't understand this at all. I really don't.

I like all kinds of music but if it's okay I'll bend the rules to be more about subject matter in regards to lyrical content.
I'm down for any genre so long as the running subject matter isn't blatant ignorance and shallowness presented as something to take pride in. Most rap these days. A lot of pop music. Examples including the likes of Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Lady Gaga and Nickelback. When these people's music comes on I feel embarrassed that I'm taking up the same space. The fact that people take these songs seriously, listen frequently and are probably personally influenced by song after song about how cool they are for having cars and sex and money as if their shit doesn't stink and people just need to step aside or get run over is disturbing to me.
Really how many fucking songs about obscene levels of affluence and self obsession does a person need to write? The fans eat it up because "Hey they're famous, must be the truth!" while if a person came up to you in public and started a conversation about how slick their whip is and you can't do nothing about it, I can bet you wouldn't want to listen to them for very Long. So why do we accept it in the form of a song? Nonsense.
I really think this stuff is made popular for the express reason of convincing people that money and sex is all that matters in life so that people spend more money on stuff and get them to believe it is the only way to be happy or feel any sort of self worth while anybody with different values is perceived as weird and frowned upon.

Justin Bieber
the recent Muse stuff. So overrated. NME lick the shit off of their asses. Seriously.

I don't know when Lady Gaga has ever written a song about having Money or Cars or Sex. Well infact, yes sex has been a theme of some songs but when talking about Money it's only been sarcastically. Are ugly chick singers not respected in the rawk world?

I don't know anything about those bands but meh, it's really nothing new. It's a tired gimmick that has unfortunately been able to thrive thanks to stupid people who tolerate these marketing schemes. You've got a bunch of guys who enjoy this farce and a bunch of women who aspire to be that next useless talent.
But then again, if you're fat and ugly what are you doing with your life?
