I am more apt to side with Galaxy Girl's concept of ACSS (http://www.nachtkabarett.com/babalon/topic/3879--What-does-the-album-Antichrist-Superstar-mean-to-you-/post:82206#p82206)
Yes it is a powerful album and while it does seem like it was driven by animosity and rage, I believe that alot of people focus on the negativity, and never question why Adam is so pissed. It is merely the HEART taking conscious action over the course or path that is made throughout Holywood & Mechan1cal Animal5 and finally taking a stand for what he believes in and thus refusing to be the leader of the club of Disposable Teens that he was programmed and nearly brainwashed into becoming. Adam realizes that the heart behind his revolution is merely a product posed as pretty as a ($) packaged and sold in cellophane to the highest bidder. In Mechanical Animals, Om?ga falls from space or the spotlight of Holywood to the Earth and he is left to die, lifelike and posable hopeless and as disposable to Holywood as the screenagers who stand in his shadow, in the eyes of the Corporation who propelled him towards the flame (fame). As he spirals into the city of the Valley of Death, a dystopia where the 'fifteenagers' are seemingly predestined to self-destruct, Adam realizes the path that they have been geared towards and thus leads them to rebel against their own mechanical ways or "the symptoms" that have been acquired through the system. Antichrist Superstar is truly the heart of the matter, it is the burning sulphur of the soul that rather sarcastically lashes out at the creation the Corporation (Hollywood) wanted him to be, Notice how he labels it IRRESPONSIBLE hate anthem. He is no longer taking responsibilty for the impulsive needs of lust and decay that he bathes in as Om?ga. He is Anti-Money, Anti-Hate, Anti-Song, The All American Anti-Star. The hole is quite literally where the heart is and is balanced by mind, as malice is perfectly balanced and in tune with complacent (to be pleased with oneself) as demonstrated on the album cover.

It is truly not a negative album at all, It is Manson standing up against the face of destruction and triumphing over it, as a MAN. The only being that was capable of balancing the concept of good and evil in the garden or in heaven, which inevitably led to the fall of man and Lucifer in the same fashion as Icarus who fell from the sun as his wings disintegrated like a moth in the flame, upon closer inspection through the looking glass as shown in the Tourniquet single and the beautiful people the magnifying glass reveals a Butterfly. As the spotlight of stardom burns into the wings, We fall from the stars (as om?ga) leaving us alienated and low our wings tattered and torn as we have fallen, fallen from the spotlight, The pilot light has flickered out and all of the wings are broken to make sure that we fall to the Earth. Antichrist is the rise to power of the heart and soul. We are reborn in the ashes of love of self (as hate is not enough) that ignites a passion to change our world as we are fully conscious and aware of everything. The veil is lifted and we see the world no longer as the victims the heart and mind guides the hand which materializes thought and emotion, precisely balanced and weighed. The Antichrist is simply the conscious desire to follow your heart, without fear and the manifestation of that power in your world.

I find the GOAG to be a true turning point in Adam's revolution after the conclusion of the triptych. Instead of singing the death song we chant "We Don't Rebel To Sell, It Just Suits Us Well.... WE'RE THE BRIGHT YOUNG THINGS" Manson literally shrugs off the mouse ears, refusing to be the victim of fame and the entire album is really juvenile in every sense. It's like a renewed hope and a celebration in the vein of Wild In The Streets (http://www.nachtkabarett.com/babalon/topic/866--Possible-Meaning-of-15/post:8598#p8598) which as my friend, S.D. points out features the song The Shapes to Come. In mOBSCENE, it is almost a rallying of the troops and point out the flaws in the system as their death marching band waltz' to the rhythm of scum and bass. Embracing all that we are and enjoying every moment of individualism. Unashamed to amuse and entertain.

Astute thoughts [god]speed, and nice to move back to a topic that has been quiet for some time. I think so much was speculated about the tryptych, it can be rewarding to just pen solid ideas on it, which after reading what you have to say here, and enjoying it - [bridging "disposable" as used in New Model No 15 through to Holy Wood is marvellous, as I've often synaesthetically recognised the curiosity of the word being so pertinent to the latter album, but already uttered by Manson before the "fifteens" as you say, disposed of themselves at Columbine] - I think can be visualised as thus:-

Antichrist Superstar is indeed, the human part of the trilogy, and the reason for that is because it is godless. If you consider Holy Wood to be the struggle of Adam Kadmon to THEOLogically come to terms with the world he finds himself in, then you can suggest that it starts with religion as the lie to which he subscribes, he is a beLIEver. Father dictates as god, and mother tries to placate the anguish. Kadmon believes he has a god, faith, a cause to follow, and in this case Celebritarian™ is the basis for that religion, the one that causes him to see death on the TV and mistake it for faith and prayer. It is this same mistaken faith that gives him the license to "destroy you with one simple hole", which will of course later be discovered as the location of the heart, the true faith, rather than that which causes the hole. As the packaged revolution leaves Kadmon's faith dry, he searches for new, false gods, which he doesn't find, and instead becomes dependent on drugs, sex and fame as that to which he subscribes (or is it that to which he is prescribed...?).

This is the evident segue into Omega and Mechanical Animals, a Celebritarian construct figure sold to the masses to make them forget that the revolution failed. Recall the video for Disposable Teens, with the rioting crowd? That is where the revolution was real ("The more that you fear us, the bigger we get"), and now, in The Dope Show, the riot is plastic, false, a pop sensation rather than a mob scene, with model police officers and Omega as the plastic central figure screened and purchaseable/poseable. But, that leads us to the internal struggle of fame, and how when alone (as all people inevitably are in their "fifteen minutes of shame"), Omega wants nothing more than to smash his own effigy, the listless collection of plastic faces that bear his own visage, and he sees nothing in them of himself.

Now, this is where Antichrist Superstar arises. In order for the emotional and cognitive damage the drugs, the failed revolution, fame/shame and being seen as a dead star by Coma White (she's got eyes like Zapruder) to be healed or destroyed, Wormboy is the character Manson utilises, he's back to being a child, a damaged infant ("the lips of a scared little girl". In embodying Nietzschean theory into this character, he creates a chain of events that as you've pointed out [god]speed, are not to be viewed as death, or end, but destruction; destruction of that which makes you weak. The words of the sycophant in Mister Superstar are falling on deaf ears (yes, I am fully aware of how that sounds in relation to the meat story in Manson's book...) as the character starts to realise that instead of all the aformentioned factors; the "pretty ones", the gods, the guns, the government, the drugs, the false revolutions, the "highs" and "lows", all there really is to believe in is YOURSELF. As The Antichrist Superstar rises and becomes more human than this character ever was before, though stronger, and more emotionally prepared, he similarly experiences what it is like to acknowledge your own weakness, and how that manifests as a personal reaction. In recognising the inherent flaw in society and how it's as much the fault of individuals as a combined mass, he offers the commentary of Minute Of Decay, and suffers the "fall".

However, this destruction of the self is what causes the realistion of how that self is the only true faith in The Reflecting God:-

"I went to god just to see, and I was looking at me"

The Reflecting God and Man That You Fear are Manson realising that the end of the journey is strengthening the belief you have in your own power --- "When I'm god everyone dies / "Everyone will suffer now" / "No salvation, no forgiveness" --- and the ability that power has to destroy all the things that can drag you down:-

"When all of your wishes are granted, many of your dreams will be destroyed"

This isn't about losing, or being defeated, or being disillusioned. In the scheme of the tryptych, it's a final cry of killing off the dreams of perfection you might have had and realising that they are untrue, you forge your own future and shed unecessary skins. Reality is not the dream, but the "dream inside the dream", the action of living the reason why you had the dream in the first place. And finally, as was the replaced statement for live performances of The Reflecting God, these characters, and their Christ-like vindication, are all vocalised as Manson shouts "I'm tired of dying for your motherfucking sins"; he doesn't seek death, he seeks destruction.

ACSS, to me, is an awakening. Perhaps the final stages of the alchemy of the Triptych, yet an alchemical process in itself. Manson has suggested HW, MA then ACSS as the listening order for the Triptych. If considered from an alchemical point of view, then I agree. ACSS is the finding of self; it’s the bulging belly of the pregnant mother about to give birth to the stone after the consummation of the alchemical marriage of MA’s Alpha and Omega.

In the book Psychology and Alchemy, Jung writes – Mercurius stands at the beginning and end of the work: he is the prima materia, the caput corvi, the nigredo; as dragon he devours himself and as dragon he dies, to rise again as the lapis (stone). He is the play of colours in the cauda pavonis and the division into the fourth element. He is the hermaphrodite that was in the beginning (Adam Kadmon - HW), that splits into the classical brother and sister duality (Adam/Coma) and is reunited in the coniunctio (MA hermaphrodite, Alpha and Omega), to appear once again at the end in the radiant form of the lumen novum, the stone. He is metallic yet liquid, matter yet spirit, cold yet fiery, poison and yet healing draught – a symbol uniting all opposites. (Our Antichrist)

ACSS, to me, is realising that you perhaps have been trying to please everyone but yourself and the resulting anger that comes with knowing that in doing so you have betrayed yourself ….”Everybody’s someone else’s nigger, I know you are so am I”, finally and seeing it for what it is deciding “fuck it”…”I wasn’t born with enough middle fingers” (a reference to Seraphim, not an angelic)…”…”I am the idiot that will not be himself”. This realisation also comes with the acknowledgement and anger at the hypocrisy of society.

Calcination, the first of the seven alchemical operations has begun, feelings said to be experienced during this “purgation of the soul” (1) are said to be rage, anger and frustration.

Irresponsible Hate Anthem

I hate the hater, I rape the raper
Lets just kill everyone and let your god sort them out
Fuck it....
Better not say this.

People, for the most part, are only interested in what THEY want you to be. The Beautiful People, how you dress behave whether you’re accepted, successful et cetera, is measured by what is popular at the time, meanwhile those that judge themselves have a closet full of dirty secrets. This is echoed in the lyrics of Dried Up, Tied And Dead To The World ...”You cut off all of your fingers; trade them in for dollar bills. Cake on some more make-up cover all those lines”. And then the question….”Don’t you want some of this? Don’t you need some of this?”

The second stage of alchemy is Dissolution “hidden in the dark recesses of the scorched matter and ashes that remain after Calcination is a weak essence, the tiny spark of the true Self.” (1)

The rebellious “Little Horn” is born out of the bottomless pit of consciousness and with it comes the first buds of Angel wings, though they are not of the heavenly kind, not perfect by society’s standards, not even perfect to those who are most expected to accept you for who you are, not family. Yet still perfection (7) is taught. “It’s hard to learn the number 7”, “But when they get to you. It’s the first thing that they do”, it’s never considered rape. Cryptorchid is the final shattering of the illusion of “perfection” by these standards. He, just like all of us, have our imperfections, faults et cetera in the eyes of others.

The third stage of alchemy is Separation, filtration, sifting. “Psychologically, it is the development of a self-deprecating attitude in the personality as we become aware of all the little tricks and illusions that have been formed by the ego.” (1)

But is it so wrong? How can you stop your own thoughts and experimentation when discovering who you really are? Who they really are? Why can’t you tell everyone to fuck off, that this is the real me? (Here is my real head; you never gave me a chance to be me… as voiced on other albums) “Each time my mother cries and Angel dies and falls from heaven (I wish I had the balls)”.

The innocence of a child has been eroded, stripped bare, the Worm. “During this breaking down of the personality into its basic components, the alchemist becomes aware of the opposites within and separates them from their contamination with ego complexes and unwanted conscious elements.” (1)

This is then followed by the awakening/realisation/transformation.

Conjunction is the fourth stage of alchemy. “Ancient philosophers saw the human body not as a physiological machine (MA) but as a vessel for soul and spirit. Though many people today confuse these two for one another, spirit and soul are really two separate and unique entities. Spirit, our inner king (sun), is constantly striving for higher realms. Constantly seeking something better, but soul, our inner queen (moon), is not totally committed to perfection for its own sake. Instead, the soul feeds on the fire of existence with all its foibles and catastrophes. She is not interested in explanations or one theory that accounts for everything. […] The soul transcends rational descriptions and defies order, and her language is images and feelings” (1)

The Worm is longer ashamed to be itself and with this, he begins his rise to full height and power. The Angel now feels and begins to spread his scab filled wings for the first time. Prick your finger…. It is done. The moon has now eclipsed the sun. Conjunction is the marriage of the sun and the moon. Conjunction is “the renewed will and energy to carry on the Work and face the coming challenges.” (1)

Deformography

To himself – “I lift you up like the sweetest angel”

To himself and those left behind – “I will bury your god in my warm spit,
You'll be deformed in your porn"….such a dirty rock star.

Alchemy’s fifth stage is Fermentation and accordingly, Disintegrator is heard within the lyrics of Kinderfeld. “Initially, the conjuncted child of the king and queen is still tied to the earth and polluted with remnants of ego. For the Child of the Philosophers to survive, an appeal to the heavenly powers must be made.” “Like its biological counterpart, alchemical Fermentation is a compound operation that occurs in two parts. First comes as a distasteful phase known as Putrefaction, in which the matter is allowed to rot and decompose." (1)

“because today is black, because there is no turning back”

(This is also echoed within the lyrics of IIWYV “Everything’s black. No turning back”)

“Next, true fermentation would begin in which the dead material seems to come alive again with the influx of digesting bacteria. This new life changes the fundamental nature of the material in what the alchemists saw as a process of spiritization.” (1)

Kinderfeld

Because your lies have watered me
I have become the strongest weed, weed...

The taste of metal
Disintegrator
Three holes upon the leather belt
It's cut and swollen
And the age is showing

There's no one here to save ourself.

“To make absolutely sure that no traces of imperfection remain, however, the Ferment must undergo the most rigorous and repeated Distillation before it can be reborn at a higher level.” (1)

The Minute of Decay

I feel the minute of decay,
I’m on my way down now…

I'd love to just give in
I'd love to live this lie
I've been to black and back
I've whited out my name
a lack of pain, a lack of hope,
a lack of anything to say
there is no cure for what is killing me.

The sixth alchemical stage is Distillation. “”The eyes of my soul were opened”, reported the thirteenth century Franciscan nun Angelo of Foligno, “and I beheld the Plenitude of God, whereby I did comprehend the whole world, both here and beyond the [great] sea, and the abyss and all things else; and there in I beheld naught save the divine Power in a manner assuredly indescribable, so that through excess of marvelling the soul cried with a loud voice saying, “this world is full of God!” (1)

“There is above the Celestial Fire an incorruptible Flame, always sparking: the Spring of Life, the fountain of All Being, the Original of all things,” said the six-century Persian prophet Zorozster, in the Avesta.” (1)

The Reflecting God

I went to god just to see, and I was looking at me
Saw heaven and hell were lies
When I'm god everyone dies
Scar can you feel my power?

This is beyond your experience

The final stage of alchemy is Coagulation.

French alchemist Francios Trojani - “Solve et Coagula: distillation and condensation, emptiness and form, unmanifest and manifest, implicate and explicate. This is perhaps the post powerful dialect of all. The typical occidental onesidedness tends to be on the on the Coagula side of the equation, and the typical oriental onesidedness tends to be on the Solve side. [The West] needs a huge dose of Solve. But – and this especially needs to be heard by those of the Eastern persuasion – the Self also coagulates. It produces questions that cannot be “solved,” such as the question of questions: “Who am I?” The infinite value of this question is in the ever-deepening asking of it, not in the “solving” of it. (Which is reminiscent of the repeated question once heard on the Celebritarian incarnation of MM.com, HOW DO I LOOK?) In this question, we reach the heart of alchemical philosophy, the secret which protects itself: the simultaneity, the identity of Solve et Coagula. In other words, only by embracing my mortality, my utter Dissolution, can I attain immortality. The Coagulation, the deep and relentless asking of the question “Who amI?” is not other than the solution of the question. The coagulated Salt is not other than the dissolved Salt. In the sense, evolution is the dynamic, intelligent harmony of Solve et Coagula. An ancient alchemical expression of the paradox is: from the One, towards the One, by means of the One.” (1)

“There is only One form which all things proceed and into which all things recede.

I am you….

The Man That You Fear

We're on the other side, the screen is us and we're t.v.
Spread me open,
Sticking to my pointy ribs
Are all your infants in abortion cribs
I was born into this
Everything turns to shit
The boy that you loved is the man that you fear
Pray until your number,
Asleep from all your pain,
Your apple has been rotting
Tomorrow's turned up dead
I have it all and I have no choice but to
I'll make everyone pay and you will see
You can kill yourself now
Because you're dead
In my mind
The boy that you loved is the monster you fear
Peel off all those eyes and crawl into the dark,
You've poisoned all of your children to camouflage your scars
Pray unto the splinters, pray unto your fear
Pray your life was just a dream
The cut that never heals

When all of your wishes are granted, many of your dreams will be destroyed.

And thus the cycle continues, even still…

“This is where it starts. This is where it will end. Here comes the moon again.”

Prick your finger…"When you are suffering, know that I have betrayed You"

Your post was utterly astounding -< me >-.

I have been looking forward to your alchemical analysis for some time now, as we discussed before, my own angle for research often follows a cultural or historical path, alchemy being something I have not taken an extensive interest in, besides being fond of the imagery and basic principles.

The the thing is... You can apply these philosophical allegories to your own reality and that is the true magick of it. The Dream inside a Dream as S.D. Mentions. <Me> shows the alchemical process to fuckin' step your way up the ladder and back down. Your world is literally the reflection, Believe in what you say and say what you believe in then it's true.....Celebritarianism is applying the concepts, ideals, intellect which is the masculine aspect of self, or the perfect place in the sun, and most importantly imagination which is the feminine aspect of the self, or the moon) Let Moon of Imagination of the Soul, Eclipse the Sun of Intellect or Spirit.
To create the divine androgyne of the mind. Let the Conscious Hand of the Sun Guide Heart of the Moon as the Light Shines in the Darkness. To reveal the path or Exit into the dreams of your every dream materialized, therefore wishes become true and it is more than you could have ever dreamed, therefore the dream is destroyed as reality is more than one could have imagined once you acknowledge god in the reflecting poll, Narcissistic and such shallow water, A Mirror might help.

Celebritarianism is acquired through taking the allegories of the triptych studied in the same vein as scripture and applying yourself to the equation of god, without adding or subtracting, We are Zero. Nobodies. god is nowhere and now here once you see the reflection of god in yourself, beautiful ones, The Somebodies.

Its better to push something when it's slipping than to risk being dragged down, cast it all into the fire... But only love can burn down everything. Hate is not enough. Love Solves All.

IT'S THE ONLY THING I WANT TO BELIEVE, WE SAY IT BECAUSE WE BELIEVE IT AND IT'S TRUE. THIS IS A NEW RELIGION TO ME, I WENT TO GOD JUST TO SEE AND I WAS LOOKING AT YOU AND ME. WHEN I SAID WE YOU KNOW I MEANT ME. BURN ALL WOODEN GODS BECAUSE I AM YOU. YOU'RE JUST LIKE ME. HE BECAME THEM AND LEAD US TO A PERFECT PLACE IN THE SUN AND IT IS AS PRETTY AS SWASTIKA A NEW BEGINNING RISES BEHIND THE SUN...AS CERTAIN AS THE MOON ECLIPSES US ONCE AGAIN. WE ARE COMA WHITE 37 SECONDS OF KUNDALINI SIDE EFFECTS. ANDROGYNEUS BEINGS WITHOUT ENOUGH MIDDLE FINGERS. GOD IS IN THE TV, THE SCREENS ARE US AND WE ARE TV REFLECTIONS OF GODS AS WE STARE INTO THE HEART IN THE CENTER OF OUR OWN EYES.

Wonderful thoughts by all. I'm a Triptych nut and will write as much as I can when I have the time but am very busy and tired. However, one thing did just occur to me. I particularly liked this piece from S.D, which not only rings true but stands out thanks to his wonderful way of putting things:

So I was thinking about that last bit, and "I don't seek death, I seek destruction" and how that does seem to apply to the themes of ACSS. However one part seemed to contradict that: in The Reflecting God, "When I'm God everyone dies". This seems to be in direct contrast to not seeking death. However, apply this to the themes explored throughout Holy Wood... death can equal fame. If everyone dies, this could be a statement on how, as Manson and Warhol have both mentioned, everyone gets their 15 minutes of shame/ fame.

S.D. mentioned that in a Metal Edge Interview prior to The Guns God & Government tour that Manson mentions that by the end of the tour the lineup would be a rough order of how the songs would appear in the triptych.I went through all legs of the GGG Tour and made a list taking note where songs appear and made a play list

01 Count To Six And Die
02 Irresponsible Hate Anthem
03 The Death Song
04 Disposable Teens
05 Great Big White World
06 Tourniquet
07 The Fight Song
08 The Nobodies
09 Rock Is Dead
10 The Dope Show
11 Cruci-Fiction In Space
12 Burning Flag
13 Astonishing Panorama Of The Endtimes
14 In The Shadow Of The Valley Of Death
15 Born Again
16 Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)
17 Valentine's Day
18 The Love Song
19 The Beautiful People
20 Inauguration Of The Mechanical Christ
21 The Reflecting God
22 1996

Interesting that it starts with Count to Six and Die, then in Irresponsible Hate Anthem the groans of "Ohhhh" as if he has survived and is Anti- Everything as he didn't expect to have to wake up and deal with the world the next day, As he mentions in LHROH.
It ends with 1996 which causes him to count to six and starts it over again.
