So I've decided to post some of my artwork in a thread all in one. Some things to know:

I'm mostly a junkie of penwork (ink), graphite shading and sketchy lines.
My work tends to border on horror and grotesque figures and themes.
I often study other artworks and recreate them in my medium of choice.
I tend to draw people, or similar forms and characters - Famous, average or completely fictional.
I also have a new found love for watercolors, as of the beginning of this year. So I'm working with that as a medium as well. Prominantly my most used at the moment.
_______________________

In my abundance in time I have grown...bored. So upon listening to THEOL and looking at the rich, vivid colors of the album's artwork I went on a whim and began sketching and painting with watercolors to recreate it. Basic and bright is all I need.

I am also doing a sketch in pen with shading and the like as well, I'll scan that later. For now enjoy the unfinished watercolor painting. Click to view larger resolution of course.

we don't seek death, we seek destruction. | rough phase #1

Done in the spur of the moment as I find this scene in the Running to the Edge of the World music video to be the most powerful visual the video has to offer. I needed to capture it in my own hand!

Much work left to be done, obviously.

I decided to make her unevenly placed in terms of the pupil dialation and angle to add depth into the chaos in which the video demonstrates. I hope it adds to my drawing in some form.

Introducing my latest watercolor in progress, aptly modeled after a scene in the RTTEOTW music video and entitled veil in hand (running to the edge of the world in my eyes).

I love the moody, gritty look of the video, it's easily my favorite music video since 2003's mOBSCENE. I wanted to capture the essence, violence and desperation in the video. I hope to aim for those targets.

Still in progress as mentioned and still in unpolished colors. Plan for this to be dark, dull yet colorful as well. I'm going to be playing with mixing colors and different tones and shades with this.

please enjoy phase #1, click to view larger.

Cool stuff. Keep posting the progress.

You know I think Manson got some ideas from this movie

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orbUVo7sqCw

It has sheets being used sorta like veils, rape and murder and it reminds me of Running To the edge and HSG in a way.

:-P

Nick, please don't leave this one unfinished, though it looks great as it is! I like your style a lot, the sketchy feel to it is striking and very enjoyable for the eye. And the fact that you accomplish this with watercolours is even more amazing, I hadn't noticed that before and thought you've used some sort of markers.

Keep it up, you've got lots of potential! :)

Thanks for all the nice replies everyone. :)

I have been asked about markers numerous times but no, it is all watercolors. I have a distinct style in where I often use the paint more than water when I create pieces in the medium.

I am currently painting the piece right now as I reply (kind of).

This is the final step/phase in the watercolor work. The majority of the work is completed, only one phase remains - that one will feature shading and coloring added to Manson's face.

phase #5 will be the completed work. keep on the lookout!

I'm still at work on that, almost complete.

I dug through some old portfolios and folders today and found some old sketches and some other neat stuff I forgot I had done. I only scanned two, and both are sketches i did in school in my last year of high school. I did them both in English, ugh so boring. Both are unfinished, as most of my in school sketches are/were.

Ha! I liked the photo with the "materials". It may be just me, but I like when people share photos of their workstations, instruments, or even WIP ones, because to me, they seem intimate, and that's just great, because I'm a very private person :) (um.. I hope this won't get misinterpreted :) )

I enjoy to watch your works, I like the way you draw them, most of all.

Thanks everyone, I just made a sketchy drawing with pen of an alternate shot of the Eat Me, Drink Me cover photoshoot.

Came out better than I thought, so I'm going to finish it. I'll add colored pencils and watercolor paint for the blood splatter.
