Just in time for the Halloween season...
After spending time filming in Canton the past month or so,
it has been confirmed that the A & E Biography special on Marilyn Manson will air on A&E Oct 6th, 2010.
Check local listings for air times. This is the first Biography authorized by Mr. Manson and his Family.
The VH1 special "Driven" and other biographies were done without his approval.
His childhood in Canton and his parents, Barb and Hugh Warner will be prominently featured.
This will be the most in-depth look at Manson to date.

speed;74752']Thanks for confirming this for everyone Benjamin, Obviously the word of the man's father isn't good enough for people here it has to come from another site on the internet to be credible.Have you ever known things to be announced by one party, but ever change down the line? Either release dates of albums that get pushed back, or certain episodes of shows that MM was set to appear on never actually airing, or live concerts that are said to be broadcast live online to be pulled last minute? Didn't the guy who played MM for the Ghost Stories show even get the premier date wrong at first, only to find out they pushed it to Oct 30th?
The only reason I wanted to wait for confirm from the station is because I actually have been watching this series with great enthusiasm, and have seen that the premier episodes air on The Bio Channel rather than A&E and I wanted to find out which dates for which stations would get it. Hugh Warner is no more or less credible than anyone else, so just stop right there that he is somehow "not good enough".

Er "Manson's dad says this will be on" is not the word of the man's father, it's some person saying the man's father said something.
Anyway why are you saying "the man's father" like Marilyn Manson's dad is some paragon of honesty? Relax a bit, you'll live longer

Bio channel (the A&E sister channel) has it listed for airing tomorrow. I got my DVR set, but I'll post comments on it afterwards for those not able to watch it. We will not be posting the video of it since it is copyrighted material owned by A&E/Bio.

I guess someone will have it uploaded to youtube, but you never know how long it's going to last on there. They could end up pulling them for copyright. I'm hoping Bio will have a stream of it on there if it isn't on youtube.
Not sure how often it gets updated but it may be worth checking here: http://www.biography.com/video/index.jsp for the episode after it has aired. Although they can not be embedded they do have share links, although they do seem to be country restricted.

If you guys ever want to check out some other cool episodes of this series, the one of Jimi Hendrix was really well done. They used a lot of archived footage of early performances - so it'll be cool to see if they show some old school MM shows during this. They really don't make it a point to focus on just the "early years" but really the whole career, so I think this might be tons better than that VH1 Driven show.

Things are about to get really fucking exciting for all of us! :)
Holy shit these clips are awesome! Everyone in the videos looks great, I hope there are some segments with Rudy Coby on there, as we've all read him talking about Manson, but not so much talking in interviews, except for radio.
What I really liked about these short clips is that they seem to be adequately mythologising the events of recent years that a lot of fans we see talking on the internet (more on the Official forums, sadly) take for granted now. Having Evan talking about the significance of Twiggy's reunion, or hearing about the Alice Cooper performance that got shrugged off (by some) reminds us that these were big events in Manson's life and career, and just because they weren't covered by fucking MTV and the tabloids (or whoever) doesn't detract from their importance.
I hope this episode does its part in kick-starting another Marilyn Manson renaissance for people less familiar with the band, as it's the sort of exposure Interscope fucked up with The High End Of Low.
^ As ever, eloquently put S.D.

Yeah, I saw that on Facebook immediately after I made the other post, haha. Rudy has also posted it on his page, it will be good to see him, I like his enthusiasm for all subjects, Manson included.
Regarding countries where it can't be seen, it's the same here in the UK, but if anything like this ever airs and people have ripped it, although we can't upload the content to Provider Module for the sake of copyright, any links to videos will be fully appreciated and credited of course, if it's the difference between an hour on your Tevo or recorder etc, and it would always be a benefit to the community and fans overall. If anyone is recording this or putting it online, just let us know, it'll always go in the news section.

Badass bio/interview. Some cool new pics surfaced. Manson said some cool things. I only wish it was longer, really. One thing I noted and found interesting: They mentioned EVERY single album Manson put out....Except Holy Wood. Seems strange, seeing as how they did in fact open the show with Columbine shit, and made it seem as a major part of Manson's life. Which it was of course, so why not mention the album that was in many ways a direct result of, and response to the events of that tragic day?
Some great GAOG shots were shown. Sometimes, there were video footage from a different era being played while talking about one specific era. Mistake of the editor? I don't know. I like it a lot though! Wish I could have taped it.

Lol. :p
I don't think there is an easy solution to downloading the files, as we took extra precautions to make sure that it couldn't easily be downloaded considering it is a copyrighted program as Emma mentioned. We did ask permission prior to uploading the stream and were told to make sure that it was secure and not easily transferable. I'm sure it's probably technically possible but probably more challenging than most.
We are just glad that everyone now has the chance to see it, I just now finished watching it.I think it is great that they had to reflect on their entire careers will shooting this in May, which was during the midst of the recording sessions for the new record. Joey Jordison's comment at the end was the perfect way to finish the bio.
I think the best is yet to come.
We are currently uploading the HD version, and will update the page with that when it is complete, however it will be awhile considering it is about 1.5gb

I really enjoyed the documentary. It was mostly things we already new, but a lot of the footage and images were very cool. It was also interesting to hear from Manson, he looks very good and reminded me of LWF-era because of his clothes and hair, but also the way he spoke, considerably more coherent and interesting than last year's press.
The documentary showed him in a good light, and hopefully exposed the band to some younger fans who may not have heard of the band because of Interscope dropping the ball so much on the last two albums.
Proof as well, for those that needed it, that Manson has been hard at work over the past few months.
I definitely think the biography did what it was supposed to do. I mean if it was a deep, multi-layered story of Marilyn Manson that viewers were looking for then they would be more suited to reading his book, or visiting websites like this one and asking questions about him from well-versed folk. But with the Bio channel it's made for everyone, they didn't film that special just for his fans, it had to cover his story in a way that made it accessible to the general public, which is probably why some of the information or events we see as crucial were either not covered in as much detail, or conversely were focal, when we would already know them inside and out. I think that's a good approach though, if you had a show like that and it was jumping straight into the obscurities of the man's life, a casual viewer would have less to empathise with or be drawn in by.
It's the same with not naming people like Ginger Fish, or only interviewing a certain cross-section of people. This was not a vast, epic analysis of the Marilyn Manson creative story from 1989-2010, it was a formulaic account of the key aspects of his life and the band bearing the same name, so it's natural for some stuff to be left out or only briefly touched on.
Anyway, overall I think it was well-constructed and informative, and I actually think Rudy Coby was one of the most enjoyable people to watch throughout. He always seems entirely polite, and has an enthusiasm level uncommon to performers these days, it's very un-cynical seeming, and fun. The comment about Twiggy's beard was amusing, Nick Kushner spoke well, it was interesting to hear from Tony Ciulla having read about him in many interviews over the years, and I think the inclusion of Alice Cooper and Joey Jordison (as cultural observers and friends from both ends of the spectrum) was a really clever touch on the part of the researchers.
I also checked on Amazon and Ebay briefly, there is not a release for this on DVD as of yet, but I think they generally release all their shows at some stage, so I'll definitely be buying the Manson episode when possible. I am happy everyone enjoyed the show, it seems to have been received very positively looking over the last couple of pages.

I think you're quite right S.D., this was never going to be some sprawling account of every obscure aspect of the man's life, but rather an overview for people who may not be as big fans as the people who would populate a board like this. I think in that light it was successful in summing up the key points, while providing an interesting view point from various friends a.d contemporaries.
I suppose this bio can be seen it as something of an updated preview of The Long Hard Road Out of Hell, and certainly anyone interested in finding out the details of Manson's life would be better suited to giving that a read than watching some hour long TV documentary.
I also agree about Rudy Coby. Regardless of some people's opinions of him, he certainly seems to get on very well with Manson, and he also comes across as very enthusiastic and interesting, which is a pleasure to watch. Seeing him and Tony Ciulla really made this documentary for me, because they were two view points that we've never really seen speak in that way before.
