Did they ever call it a Megadrive in the US? Because I think you could get a Genesis here for a limited time and then SEGA brought out the Megadrive, but it was basically the same console. I once sat for about twelve (well fucking spent) hours and managed to max out the scoreboards on Columns. Yeah, I was as much of a loser when I was ten years old as I am now, whoopee.

Genesis was the US name for the Megadrive. Someone was probably importing, because we got Genesis a year before you got Megadrive

It was also known as Megadrive in Japan.
