View Full Version : Doctor Midnight and the Mercy Cult - Featuring Tim Skold

Just found this news about Skold being in a new band called "Doctor Midnight and the Mercy Cult".

It features former and current members of such acts as Marilyn Manson, Satyricon, Turbonegro, and Extol. Sounds decent.

Called Doctor Midnight and the Mercy Cult (that name is a touch too long), the group’s preparing to make its live debut at next year’s edition of the Slottsfjell festival, which will go down July 14, 15, and 16 in Tønsberg, Norway.

The band — featuring Hank Von Helvete from Turbonegro on vocals, Manson’s Tim Skold on bass, and Satyricon guitarist David Husvik — apparently have an album in the bag, which a press release describes as “hard, uncompromising and catchy.” Phat! That record should surface sometime next year.

Interesting line up, really can't say I can guess what the sound will be like but definitely interested to hear some. Interesting Skold is back on bass, except for GAOG, he's always been on lead guitar.

Skold is back on bass,.

And with that, I'll go ahead about bow out of listening to this band. I can't stand Skold on bass. As a guitar player, he's fine, but when it comes to bass, I can't listen to it. I hate the tuning he uses, and how he plays the songs differently. (A big difference is Irresponsible Hate Anthem.)

Turbonegro toured with Manson during EAT ME, DRINK ME if memory serves, and being from the Nordic region I'd imagine they've crossed paths with Skold on occasions before that. I like what I hear of Turbonegro, even if I don't have any albums at the moment, so this could be a fun collaboration, I will check it out. As with anything, unless a musician is absolutely shit I won't base opinions on what they've done before, just tune in to see what they're doing now. It's quite interesting that despite his solo work and KMFDM (who didn't get a mention), Marilyn Manson is now the band to which people attribute Skold's name.
Also - "hard, uncompromising and catchy"? - Sounds familiar... ;)

sounds pretty cool. Hank from Hell's vocals fit better than I imagined

Funny enough, it sounds like a skold project. Even though he's on bass, it sounds just like his other stuff lol

yeah it's good but there's definitely some of Skold's solo sound in there.

I can imagine this is more suited live, or getting blasted with a few people on a saturday night with it playing
