Can't say I've experienced this. If I see such a couple I often wonder to what extent their relationship goes compared to non-impaired people, and what the differences in the relationship are based on having two such people. With one person, they can often attend to the needs of the other. With two, how do they go about things? How does it compare to a regular relationship?

But what if you are what those 'special needs' people need to also become a 'normally functioning quick witted nice person', and then together, they can be happy? The 'normal' person as you say would get satisfaction out of being nice and helping their significant other, while the person who may have certain faults for whatever reason will feel that security, accept the help, and hopefully no longer remain as they are...
