Found the same setlist at setlist.fm but it states that Tourniquet was played!

Well nevertheless, I thought we would see some different songs and perhaps a longer running time. A bit disappointing?!

It also says 1996 was played as well. Don't know which one is right.

JAPANNNNN!!! So THIS is why Manson's crew always loves playing in Japan! Crazy crowd indeed, like the portuguese one! Way to go Tokyo, love your dedication! A HUGE thank you to Josť Leonardo for this, this was an ACE show! I just love to see Manson and Twiggy going crazy on stage and sharing their heart. Really fucking great. God and it really makes all the diference playing to your own public, on a self show at fucking Night! Mansons voice didnt sound as good since HW, killer performances of songs like Little Horn, Tourniquet (welcome fucking back!), Sweet Dreams (I appreciate that he's returning to his original interpretation of it rather than delusioning it up), Rock is Dead or Dope Show. God i wish i had seen BP with this crowd! This made my day!

I'm not complaining really, more like hoping or anticipating, whichever. Anyway, since he said they were on an ACSS kick and this tour was gonna have a lot of stuff from that album - I really hope they play something they haven't played in a while from that album and era. As cool as it is to see songs like 1996, Little Horn, now Tourniquet, and especially Irresponsible Hate Anthem...none of these songs are really that rare. Most of them they have been playing the last couple tours. So, it really doesn't seem like its all that different in terms at least of having more songs from that album. Really, I am just saying I really wanna hear them play Angel With The Scabbed Wings, Apple Of Sodom, or something else like that...I would say something like Man That You Fear but with 'No Reflection' and the rest of the songs played thus far, it seems more fast hard songs are being played than slow ones. But hey, that would be an awesome change of pace!

SETLIST:

The Doors Intro
Antichrist Superstar

Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)
Irresponsible Hate Anthem
1996/The Beautiful People

Okay, FIRST OF ALL, for those of you who missed it...MARILYN MANSON MADE A PULP FICTION REFERENCE!

FUUUUUCK, YESSSSSS.

When the guy in the crowd accurately predicted which song was next:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hrm-rPSCIBw

As someone who's been quoting that scene since PoaAF came out, I vastly appreciated the reference! I swear, I'm just sitting at a desk at home but even under THOSE circumstances I almost stood the fuck up and cheered! So awesome.

Also, I'm not really usually a fan of distant/static bootlegs, but this one really goes a long way towards showing just how awesome their light show has become over the course of just a few shows. The MM formed by the lights and flanked by the MM banners is truly fantastic. It's been done before, but the corresponding banners to the left and the right really drive home the point. I just wish they'd LIGHT THE GODDAMNED DISCO BALL whenever the venue already has one anyway! Bah.

A couple other quick observations:

HOLY SHIT, TWIGGY'S WAH-WAH PEDAL ON "ANTICHRIST SUPERSTAR" IS TO DIE FOR. O_O

Was Manson wearing a red/pink jockstrap/suspenders at the start of the show or was a red light just hitting him strangely? o_O

LOL @ Manson's game before "The Dope Show"...haha, AWESOME.

Same goes for Twiggy's noodling and pick-scraping during "The Dope Show" and "Rock is Dead," they both just sound GREAT. Same goes for the crowd spontaneously chanting at the beginning of "Rock is Dead." FUCK, YEAH.

And did I hear Manson say "god is in the B.V."...? Kinda sounded like it!

FUCKING LOVE the added chants during the breakdown 3/4ths of the way through "Personal Jesus"...nice fucking touch!

Sooooo...who's dating Mischa Barton? Sablan or Sutter? o_O

And again:

CHECK OUT THE BIG BRAIN ON BRAD!

Ahahah...GODFUCKINGDAMNIT I love so fucking much that he actually said that, lol.

Is the "fuck you" thing between Manson and Twiggy and inside joke between them relating to Tokyo? Its hilarious! I noticed they do that on the last show in Tokyo from the 2009 tour as well!

EDIT: At least now we know its confirmed why they stopped playing the spoken-word version of 1996, due to crowds being like :S when hearing it. Hopefully they play it in North America...I really wanna hear that version live!!

Mister Superstar would be a nice addition.
I liked the show, I still find it amazing that they play and within a day we all get to see bits and pieces (or even a whole show). I'm old, the internet still amazes me :P

The band sounds pretty good, very tight. It can only get better as the tour moves on.
I love that Twiggy plays the parts differently than the original recordings, but Tourniquet is lacking a bit for me on some parts (and there's a note on the chorus that he's deliberately changing, I think). It's a very easy song to play on guitar, and I feel the chorus sounds better playing octaves (Zim Zum played it like that, and John as well.)

Loving Little Horn. A Lot.

Love the wah wah during Antichrist Superstar. Little Horn was AWESOME too! When Jason started to do the sick double bass at the end, I was like "FUCK YEAH, JASON!!!"

Tourniquet sounded weird but cool. In general was a great concert

Judging from the video, it was an amazing concert ! the band is getting better with time. And damn, Twiggy belongs as MM's guitarist, he may not be as "technically efficient" as John 5. But he plays a mean guitar, and that's rock n' roll.

Yes, its not not even a problem to me, I mean we already have the albuns to hear it cleanly, playing it live should be a moment for a certain freedom. And its rock and roll, its not meant to be clean and perfect and always the same. As long as it doenst kill the song, im fine with it and even find it a bit refreshing.

Hazekiah
03-11-2012, 03:12 PM
Yeah, we've already had the album versions and several tours with John 5, so I'm very glad to hear Twiggy gettin' loose and noodling around a bit. Refreshing!

Sure beats watching him just standing there concentrating and barely holding down the guitar duties, lol.

And I actually distinctly remember the first time I heard him start messing around during "The Dope Show" on the tour for THEoL. At first I was all WTF?, but then it was immediately followed-up with the head-slapping realization that, "Oh, yeah, Twiggy fucking wrote this song, he can do whatever the fuck he wants with it!"

Fuck, yeah, Twiggy!

^ Nailed it. I'd be crazy enough to want a playlist filled with 'alternate tweaks' to the more studio faithful renditions of songs we already heard tons of times. I always appreciate new samples and modified guitar settings or extra licks here and there.

Norsefire
03-11-2012, 03:29 PM
I agree, that's one reason why I like a live show, with any band, anything can happen it's all open to change. Sure some people don't like it if something isn't played right, but like some of us posting in this thread I enjoy these changes.

The show is like a mix of comedy and songs! The comedy is ..................... ( I don't know what I think of it) its kinda frustrating.........

The older I get, the funnier and funnier things are. Absurd and sad, also, but it could be argued those are the roots of humor in some ways. Maybe that's part of it.

Also, it looks like there's 5 posts in a row that are in agreement on something! Wow! Count me in with those that find changing things around to be refreshing.

Tigger
03-11-2012, 04:39 PM
Not to jump on the bandwagon just to jump on it but I have to agree, I love the little differences here and there. It makes me go from thinking "gah those songs again?" to ooohh can't wait to hear those songs live again!! Little differences make a huge difference in things like that. While I haven't been to hella Manson shows, the upcoming two will be my 10th and 11th so little breaths of fresh air are extremely welcomed!

I like changes as long as it sounds good. Tourniquet sounded weird in this concert, but in a good way, it sounded like a rehearsal or something. Twiggy clearly changed the chorus, but it didn't sound that bad. But I enjoyed more the way he played on March 10, though.

I understand your points everyone. I just see a lot of sloppiness for it being played loose. I don't want album perfect, but I would like it to sound like the song. There is a difference with purposeful loose playing, and just random sloppy....

I'm mixed about it. I don't know what I really think about it.

Kills my self.

I'm finding this resurrection of notable images from Manson's past quite interesting. There was a lot of this during The High End Of Low as well, notable aesthetics making re-appearances. The black strip running from Manson's lip to his chin was prevalent during Antichrist Superstar:-

Obviously they're focusing on Antichrist Superstar for the first part of the tour so it makes sense, but it's nice seeing Manson self-referencing, I really enjoy things like that.

Pretty sure it's just generous helpings of tweezing/waxing/threading/whatever.

Any time he's had eyebrows as an adult that's pretty much how he's seemed to prefer them.

And GREAT, now I can't help but think of Manson's commas every time I see Twiggy's tattoos of quotation marks, lol.
