Watching this for, like, the 50th time last night I was struck by how powerful it still is after 27 years. In my opinion it is the only worthwhile thing either Oprah Winfrey or Whoopi Goldberg have ever been involved in. I also find it to be the most touching that Spielberg has ever managed to be, although Schindler's List comes close. The thing that strikes me the most about the film is how relevant it's themes still are in today's modern world. It's kind of sad that things such as discrimination and prejudice are still major factors in the internet age. That's why I think this film may be one of the most important ever made. Until oppression is eliminated altogether, the Color Purple will continue to matter.

No, no confusion.
Just intentionally missing the point.

Ah, the old "pretend you knew all along" trick, eh? Well played.

hahahah no I'm serious.

I don't actually know anything about the production, so that was my contribution.
