This is kind of a silly thread, no offense, because my favorite songs are on my favorite albums and therefor they are my favorite bands.

I'm a lazy motherfucker and it's 5 39 in the morning so I guess I'll just do top albums for the fun of it.
5. Low by David Bowie
4. Kid A by Radiohead
3. Antichrist Superstar
2. The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails
1. The Fragile by Nine Inch Nails
Fuck it let's do artists, too:
5. Rammstein
4. Radiohead
3. David Bowie
2. Marilyn Manson
1. Nine Inch Nails
I cannot for the life of me give my all-time 5 favorite songs. That's just impossible. I'll just do my five favorites from the albums I selected I suppose.
For Kid A it's either Everything In Its Right Place or Idioteque.
Low- Subterraneans, easily
Antichrist Superstar- Cryptorchid, Man That You Fear, or Reflecting God
The Downward Spiral- A Warm Place
The Fragile- La Mer/The Great Below or the Frail or the Big Come Down (really it's too big of an album to choose)
Might give explanations later but I'm ridiculously tired so not now,.

- You Are The Worst Thing In The World (Telefon Tel Aviv)
- H. (TOOL)
This is kind of a silly thread, no offense, because my favorite songs are on my favorite albums and therefor they are my favorite bands.
I get what you mean, and I'm sure this applies to most people as well, but there are plenty of songs I love from bands/album I dislike. It offers some flexibility, and I like that. Notice how ACSS is one of my top album yet MM isn't one of my top artists? It's because while he's done some stellar albums, his discography as a whole isn't as good as Neil Young's. Or how MMT listed Pink Floyd's Animals as one of his favorite albums, yet Floyd arent in his top 5 artists.
Flexibility. It works.

I think that could work. I don't have a "real" order besides my top 3... but that feels right.
albums and songs? I'd the MA, ACSS and The Fragile are my top 3 albums of all time, but I need to think about the rest.

My favorites change with time. I'm always changing my favorites with time because I can't deny a good song. I don't care what genre it is. A good song is a good song, it doesn't matter what genre it is. So therefor my favorite song is ever changing. Same goes with albums. I mean I have my favorites of all time, but my favorite at the time is changing every so often.
I'll not include Manson... for obvious reasons.
Right now it's...
Artists:-
Dope
Machine Head
Steel Panther
Die Mannequin
Rammstein
Albums:-
Fino+Bleed - Die Mannequin
Balls Out - Steel Panther
Liebe ist für alle da - Rammstein
Unto The Locust - Machine Head
Songs
That's to hard for me to answer that one because I have so many favorite songs by each artist I listen to.
My favorite always depends on what kind of mood I'm in at the time or who I'm listening to at the time.
If I were to pick a top 5 it would be:-
Imperium - Machine Head
I Am - Dope
Miss Americvnt - Die Mannequin
Mann Gegan Mann - Rammstein
The Only Time - NIN

• In This Moment
Albums:
• Addicted- Devin Townsend Project
• Ki- Devin Townsend Project
• Holy Wood- Marilyn Manson

Like most people, I am sure; my favorite songs are totally dependent on my mood. Tomorrow, or possibly even later tonight, this list would have completely changed. I left Manson out because it made selecting only five songs less difficult.
Songs:
• Supercrush- Devin Townsend Project
• Terminal- Devin Townsend Project
• Globus Hystericus- The Agonist
• There Was a Flood- Bleeding Through
• The Promise- In This Moment
