I ordered my ticket and will be there! It is going to be excruciatingly hot here though in AZ. I'll either show up later in the day or spend a fortune on drinks.

i'll be attending as well. cant take off work the whole day so my flight from LA doesn't even get in until 5:30 so i probably won't get there until 6:30 or 7. hopefully manson's not going on before that

I'l be with family, I'm visiting them in Tucson but I think we're having some days in Phoenix so this will have to work in, so I think we will be getting there late in the day as well. Plus we only want to see MM and RZ.

Is anyone who's going to both maybe interested in helping me get from this show to the show in Vegas the next day?

I'm planning on Greyhounding it for most of the tour and I'd just HATE to have to miss either the first show OR Vegas...but the bus schedule simply DOES NOT work out.

I could help with gas and driving and whatever and I have pretty solid references as not being a serial killer or anything like that, lol.

Any takers?

I love how that thought comes up immediately in America! "Take someone with me? HE COULD BE A SERIAL KILLER!".

People will recognize you and take you there, don't worry. It looks like thousand_kisses is attending both shows as well, maybe you should PM him/her! :)

no, not going to phoenix now, can't because of my stupid job and them not letting me take the day off early to get to phoenix in time for manson's set. still going to vegas (and salt lake and denver) but am flying. if only i were driving, i'd be more than happy to give you a ride though :( maybe some other time!

I got Cringeon's number earlier so hopefully I can text him some info from this show to post here. I probably wont be able to post myself because I will be on my phone and a UK phone using US networks just eats up my credit. Once I refreshed facebook and lost £5 credit... so it should be cheaper for me to text some info instead.

Got to pick my tickets up at the venue, shouldn't be any problem but I wish I had them in my hands to I knew I had them safe.

Cool photos so far, guys. Seeing some familiar backdrops from previous tours (DRUGS sign; Holy Wood platforms; image of Celebritarian crosses on the backdrop screen). Spotted a HUGE Celebritarian cross over the stage. I wonder if it's used or remains fixed there.

Love that the audience lit a fire to dance around during the show. Well done.

Who was confirming songs played?

Nobody. That's how I figured: for instance, a song was played, then there was the DRUGS picture, and it said ''Yay, dope show''.
Then a picture with Manson holding a knife, and a guy saying ''No Reflection #MarilynManson #etcetc''. Then a girl who is there saying ''reach out and touch faith''. And a guy saying ''don't mind if I sing along with Sweet Dreams'' or something along those lines.

Here's some info from Norse!

- King Kill 33 was played before ACSS. no vocals, but he thinks the band was actually playing it live
- No other new songs this show, but stage show is taken to a new level. New backdrops, speaker covers with his face/flags, etc. New costumes, DRUG light sign
- New podium, stage was going crazy with lights while it was being brought out. Two men stood on either side in masks and MM had a mask on at the start of ACSS
- New intro for Personal Jesus, thinks he heard MLK and Hitler speeches during it before lights go on and big ACSS flag with upside down US flags over the speakers or the back drop pieces behind Fred/Twig.
- Double crosses flashing in background, huge red cross comes down for The Love Song with Manson singing "do you love your GGG" into
- Mobscene had LED lights behind Twigy/Fred - one says vagina, the other says AIDS.
- MM played guitar for slo mo tion, Jason has new double cross drum head
- Twiggy switched with MM for end of TBP, just kept saying "TBP" repeatedly

Set (not correct order)
hey, cruel world
disposable teens
love song
no reflection
slo mo tion
sweet dreams
ACSS
personal jesus
the beautiful people

dope show
rock is dead
tourniquet

Any word on the Zombie show?

Norsefire
09-29-2012, 01:19 AM
Zombie was really good as well, his show was pretty much the same as what I saw last year. Possibly new stage thing that he rides on, or he just didn't bring it to the uk last year. Felt like both bands played for the same amount of time, RZ was done by around 11, but I forget what time he came on.

Manson was pretty much on time for his show as well. The new stage designs are awesome! love the new ACSS, his podium has a shock logo that's lite up, and has a frame around it holding like tannoy speakers on it. He was dressed in a Nazi coat or something close to that I think. Wore a cool mask near the start, and the two guys at his side wore masks too... probably designed by those guys who did his skull mask I guess. At the base of the podium is like rocks and barbed wire. The sound screeched a few times during the song and Manson turned his back for a few seconds... not sure if that's because of the sound screeching or he was just messing around like he does on the podium.
Also I think the guitar fucked up at the start of Sweet Dreams, it sounded that way to me though and I couldn't see Twiggy and then he came back and carried on. Nothing too bad though at all!

The Personal Jesus intro with the speeches is so fucking cool, didn't expect it to burst into Personal Jesus, but it was good and the stage set up with the flags worked well too.

The Dope Show was fantastic, great to see the DRUGS sign back again, the S cut out halfway through so it was just DRUG. Could have been worse I guess like RUGS or something lol.

New clothing for the songs, Dope Show now has a white jacket, I think the lapel is still mirrored and there's a fox boa thing hanging on one side from what I think I remember. He also began the song with "I need a fix because I'm going down...."

King Kill 33 was awesome, I was like wtf I know this! but I couldn't figure it out and then I was like FUCK! lol

The huge red double cross did come down for the Love Song, was cool to see that, the stage really looks awesome! and the four smaller crosses along the back flash throughout the show too.

I got video clips and I think quite some good photographs, especially of the new podium. Won't be able to get much online though for a few days, I'm just using hotel wifi right now.

Not sure what else I remember... see the post Cringeon made with the texts I sent. Overall though the Twins of Evil is fucking great!

The merch didn't have a twins shirt that RZ posted a while back :( so I got an MM shirt with the dates on the back. The front has his face taken from the slo mo tion cover.

Reply to Cringeon in regards to King Kill 33:
From my angle in the pit it looked to be played LIVE. Incredible. At first I was unsure, they looked to be playing it instrumentally early on, but I had thought the vocals were taped because Manson wasn't visible at first. However, I caught Twiggy at his microphone stand doing vocals for "King Kill 33." So, a heads-up to look for that. The setlist on the bottom of page six (from NapalmHeart) is correct (really sure).

Also, there were a few guitar or mic screeches (nothing big, plus its "live" and I think that is part of the experience), but it didn't bother me. Additionally, the raw sound of not having a keyboard player was a great change-up (Also seemed like they took out some of the backing tape of the keyboard portions on older songs). People may have issues with the set, but the older songs sound great with the raw/stripped/blues sound.

Once again, the new stage setup and props were the best I've seen since 2007 EMDM w/ Slayer tour. Manson's vocals were terrific all night, from low to high notes and especially his screams. Best screams & overall vocals I have heard live from him in 4 shows I have attended (Starting in '07).

Also I have seen Zombie 4 times live as well, same set pretty much he has played recently, however he has the best stage set up I've seen from him. Also, both bands were really sharp and played for approximately 1hr 10-15min each. This "Twins of Evil" date was part of a festival put together by local radio. So, keep that in mind, but MM or RZ usually don't play over 1 1/2 hrs anymore so I would expect similar sets and times.

Man, I'm SO pissed I had to miss it but thrilled you had such a great time and CAN'T WAIT to experience all the awesomeness you've detailed...THANKS so much! I am ON my fucking way RIGHT NOW!
Dying to hear those MLK/Hitler speech intros for "Personal Jesus," it sounds like a FANTASTIC representation of the video for that song, especially with all those flags.
It's also really cool to hear he's doing that a capella intro with the lyrics from "Happiness is a Warm Gun" again finally, except as an intro for "The Dope Show" instead of "The Reflecting God" this time! Hopefully it's a sign of things to come... ;)
And I fuckin' cracked up reading your thoughts about the DRUG(S) sign malfunction, lol. I actually have a pic I took at OzzFest '01 which was unfortunately off-center and makes Manson look like a carpet salesman, hahaha. Silly, yeah, but I'll post that later FOR SURE, lol.
And ZOMFG the "King Kill 33" intro for "Antichrist Superstar" sounds fucking EPIC, especially with all the insane lights! And those songs are a PERFECT combo, too! Kinda like the pairing of "King Kill 33" & "The Fall of Adam" in reverse. LOVE IT. \m/
And from the sounds of it Twiggy sorted the guitar problem out fast and Manson just had a brief feedback problem maybe so HELL, YEAH...killer first show and the Twins of Evil tour is off to a MOTHERFUCKER of a great start!

Just ONE question, WTF's a "Tannoy Speaker"...? o_O

In a recent interview, Manson said his show would consist of three sets, comparable to three acts of a play. Can anyone put together any storyline? Was there a narrative? Or were his statements less literal?

For the conlcusion, he said: "The "villain," of course, is the catalyst that, in Act III, when it rains, he's the one that causes the change. He walks out alive, but he breaks the rules to cash in.

What did he mean it was greatly, politically influenced by the films 1984 and Blade Runner?

And they're all incredibly biased.
I've read plenty of comments on twitter and instagram that talk about how shitty his performance was. Obviously I'm not going to think it's shitty, but people who aren't fans might have more objective judgment.
Also, to clarify, based on what I've seen I definitely don't think it was shitty lol, I think everything looked amazing and badass, but I feel the need to point out that the majority of positive reviews/the majority of people we ask are going to be manson fans, and thus, biased.

Also, it was only the first show. Who knows, maybe for regular shows he's gonna use that American flag backdrop for Hate Anthem and something new for Personal Jesus, maybe he had to cut the show a little shorter, we'll see.

It would be just as easy to pick at Rob Zombie because he's not a great live singer for example, he's been doing that exact same show for ages now and I think the setlist kinda sucks too.

It's stupid to compare their shows anyway because as similar as their audiences might be, as different is their show. You can never please everyone.

I wasn't gonna talk shit about Rob Zombie since I love the music and the fact that I'm gonna see him live soon with John 5 and Ginger, but I'm sensing a negative vibe from Zombie's side. Now I can see why John 5 is in better hands with Zombie than Manson.

What I can say on this from being there is that there are indeed 3 definitive acts, you can tell throughout. Interestingly enough for the most part (roughly) Act I consisted of songs and imagery from "BV" and "HW." Act II songs/imagery from "MA" and more and Act III mostly ACSS. So, there is the natural progression of the Triptych albums in a sense, with some additions. I think as the tour progresses details of Acts I-III will be easier to dissect as more people experience the show themselves and can share their views. I would also like to add that even though I would love some more "deep cuts" in the set list, this tour seemingly does the hit songs differently. It's hard to explain if you haven't experienced this show yet, but it wasn't disappointing at all.

EDIT: Here's how I would explain the band playing the songs differently. Manson's has been talking about how the next album "is as hard as Twiggy's dick (not an exact quote, but from interview memory)" for years since the reunion. Think BV sound if you havent seen a recent show (hard bluesy grooves). This show is capturing it well, even on older songs. Sure there is back-up taped keys/synths, no live keyboard player. Although not as much backup tape on recent tours weather for keys or MM vocals. Which for me I was ecstatic about because it taints the live experience slightly for me. That's just my opinion, but it can make me cringe a little. I think fans of both MM and RZ would most likely agree that RZ songs use less vocal variability (screams/highs/lows/mubles ect...), by the way I am a big fan of both artists. This is the first time since I've attended a Manson show where his vocals were very, very crisp in all aspects. It was awesome, especially after hearing fans and media alike bash him for bad performances. I guess by the # of posts I've done everyone can tell I enjoyed this show tremendously. lol

Since I live in Phoenix and that is my local newspaper, take any MM bashing with caution. I have never read an article by the publication that has praised Manson. On the other hand Zombie's show was terrific, however the crowd wasn't as loud (from where I was) as it was for Manson (which I found very surprising), unless told by Rob to get louder. However, many of those people may have just been exhausted from being in the 100 degree heat since 12:45pm.

no it doesn't have to go past Zombie and its possible Rob got passed a review, posted the link and then took it down when he had a chance to review. But for people to be suggesting there is some kind of intentional shenanigans going on is silly. The fact he took it down shows he didn't want to be associated with it.

Now ... that's all the positivity you are getting from me on this particular show.

It sucks that Manson messed up some songs, like "The Love Song" and "Antichrist Superstar." Piss poor. In general, his vocals are not all that great either. Big surprise. Buuuut, like someone else pointed out, this is just the beginning of this tour. I GUESS I'll give him that. So. Again, the only exception being "Slo-Mo-Tion," maybe "The Dope Show."

It would also be cool to see the theatrics kicked up even higher with some pyro.

Manson has some really heavy competition with Zombie, I think. I've been watching the videos and Zombie kicks ass.

Anyway I'm on vacation so I don't have the time to sit around and edit anymore photos or videos yet, but here's my video of KK33 and the intro for ACSS. I wanted to video all of ACSS but the set up was so awesome I needed to get some good photos of it, hopefully I can video it in full when they come to the UK later in the year.

Yeah Fred has a pretty damn good stage presence. I'll never forget his facial expression when he's just staring wide-eyed at the crowd, like some kind of zombie predator. It's too bad fate didn't bring that guy into MM years ago.

OK so I think this is all my videos/clips. Turned out a lot better than I thought they would, kind of wish I had recorded the whole show now. I think a few songs are in full, and there's a few clips from other songs some are almost full song clips and some are just short clips, because I was trying to take photos too.

I hope you enjoy what I did manage to capture though, they should all be HD too if you alter the settings. I wish YouTube would allow it to default to HD instead of low quality all the time.

THE LOVE SONG (Start/End Clips) - Celebritarian Hymn style intro!

Wasn't sure how the video was going to turn out, and when I saw that huge red double cross coming down from the top of the stage I just had to stop filming to snap a couple of good photos of it.

I thought the stage was quite dark for this song, so you can't see a great deal in the video.

THE DOPE SHOW (Clip)

It's funny how my two videos clips were just a few seconds out from matching up, I didn't plan this or anything, so I just trimmed the end clip of a few seconds to fit with the start, lol.

One of my favourite things about the show was this intro with the different speeches being broadcast

My cousin sums up the show at the end with "That was fucking awesome!" lol I have to agree with that!

I have a few RZ videos and clips too... whenever I finally get time to upload them I will probably put a link in here to my YT feed or something.
