I don't know Zombie, but I think this would be a solid set for MM on this tour. Lots of what they play now, add in some classics/minor tweaks and I think this would be pretty much flawless. I'll try to listen to some White/Rob Zombie and come up with a set idea.

Hey, Cruel World...
The Beautiful People
The Love Song
No Reflection
The Dope Show
Slo-Mo-Tion
Dried Up Tied and Dead to the World
Angel with the Scabbed Wings

I'd want to hear 'If I Was Your Vampire,' 'I Want To Kill You Like They Do In The Movies,' and 'Wight Spider,' in particular, from those two albums, but being somewhat realistic with it for this year's tours, I say:
1. Overneath the Path of Misery
2. The Beautiful People
3. No Reflection
4. Great Big White World
5. The Nobodies
6. Dried Up, Tied, and Dead to the World
7. Minute of Decay
8. Tourniquet
9. Coma White/Black
10. Disengaged
11. Lay Down Your Goddamn Arms
12. Antichrist Superstar
13. Irresponsible Hate Anthem

Manson: Antichrist Superstar played from start to finish.

Zombie: Helbilly Deluxe played from start to finish with More Human Than Human and Thunderkiss 65 as an encore.

This would be awesome except that Hellbilly is only about a 36 minute album with atleast 3 songs of filler/intro/outro/instrumentals lol.

Also, I notice that some of you are giving Manson a 15 song set. I really hope this doesn't become the norm when it comes to live Manson shows. Just because it is Manson's "special" number, does not mean he should get away with only doing 15 song live. Some bands that have been around as long as him and Zombie are doing 2 hour sets. Even Zombie is doing less songs now than he did a decade ago and throwing in drum and guitar solos....this is new. He never did that before. I say cut the solos (if thats what it takes) and do more music.

anyway, my setlist:

Manson:

Zombie:
Now, I'm not a massive fan but Superbeast & Living Dead Girl need to be performed. The last song should be Dragula and this is how it would be:
Manson, Twiggy, Ginger & John 5 all perform Dragula along with Rob, of course and reunite. Infact what would be good is if Manson just performed Man That You Fear as his last song, then they perform Dragula as mentioned ^ with Rob, then they go into ACCS, again with Rob!
Although this will never, ever happen : (

I think you mean Astro-Creep Superstar. :p

Oh, believe me...I know!

SO many different ways I could've gone with SO many of the amalgamated titles.

In the end, I just went with what seemed simplest and most realistic and just tried to make it conform to the general pattern of Manson setlists. And Astro-Creep is actually an album title not a song so I went the other way.

Plus, I already had the Electric Head thing in the intro so we were covered on the Synthetic Delusions front.

I probably spent way too much time on this, lol.

Rob just needs to modify his onstage robots a bit and he can perform Yo Gaba Gaba from hell. But some might argue that that show is from hell anyway.

Disposable Teens, mOBSCENE and Rock Is Dead are always bathroom/beer breaks for me, which is a huge part of the set but they're hard to replace without fucking up the set and killing the energy. The Beautiful People just sounds tired and cliché unlike Sweet Dreams, which is still somehow always great. Too bad there wouldn't be any room left for Tourniquet and GBWW, but there would be too many slow tunes, y'know?

Hey Cruel World
The Love Song

Has he played murderers? Also, I'd consider Hey Cruel World a single as it has a video, and when I saw him King Kill 33 didn't actually have lyrics and was just played while waiting for the ACSS podium to be wheeled out.

MM started out with only a little lyrics using the megaphone, but he and Twiggy have been adding more. It's just about 30sec shorter than the original.

I am not new to forum. I used to visit the site everyday but now i made an account. Anyways down to the point. I noticed so many complaints about the setlist. So i went browsing 2009's setlist's and i noticed SO MANY high end of low songs. Now i thought what if u replace those songs with Born Villain songs.

Hey Cruel World
Disposable Teens
No Reflection
Little Horn
Irresponsible Hate Anthem
Pistol Whipped
Slo-Mo-Tion
The Flowers of Evil
The Dope Show
Overneath The Path of Misery
Mechanical Animals ( was played in 2007 , I think RID is horrible live)
Sweet Dreams
Rock 'n' Roll Nigger/Personal Jesus
Dried Up, Tied and Dead to the World
King Kill 33/Antichrist
The Beautiful People

I used the portland setlist http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/marilyn-manson/2009/roseland-theater-portland-or-4bd797a2.html and replaced HEOL songs with BV and added Mechanical Animals instead of Rock is Dead. So what do you think? What would u do? More Rare stuff like dead to the world or more new stuff. Personally the setlist above would be great!

That's a cool set list. I definitely would like to hear "Overneath the Path of Misery" and "The Flowers of Evil." I might throw out "Pistol Whipped" for something like "Born Villain," maybe switch out "Disposable Teens," "Sweet Dreams," and "The Beautiful People" too for something else like "The Reflecting God," "Angel with the Scabbed Wings," "Man That You Fear" or "Children of Cain."

Bob Dylan is 71 and he changes his setlist almost every night. Marilyn Manson is 42, and... I mean, come on. I'm starting to think this is Cooking Vinyl's decision, the setlists. He can't want to play these songs every night. I can hear his voice striving to find inspiration in the lyrics he sings and be aware of what he's singing, but it really doesn't work. Manson isn't stupid enough to NOT see that songs like "Flowers of Evil" have ENORMOUS stage presence potential. He should really open up casual fans to the vast repertoire he actually has and not turn Zombie fans off to Manson even more by his "going through the motions" kind of singing.

Cooking Vinyl distributed BV - they are not in control of the band.

Edit: I've always said I'd always love to see a setlist with tons of lesser known songs, but this setlist is about half bigger radio hits, and the other newer songs or older deep cuts. Also, not everyone really know songs like Love Song, King Kill, ACSS and Coma White. Most of MM's songs that have gone to radio or had music videos just happen to be really iconic songs and proven staples for a live environment. Fans who hang out on a fansite, talking with other fans can go on and dream up our own setlists - but it doesn't mean it would go over any better with a general live crowd. We are not the majority, although I'm always excited but new songs, or rarer songs being brushed off life. I just think at a certain point you can't become fixed on some idea of what you think it should versus what it is. You just need to go and rock the fuck out.

So lap it up even if it sucks, Cringeon?

The setlist is shit and it isn't an absurd idea that Cooking Viny may have had something to do with it although if that were the case you'd think there would be a lot more Born Villain songs played because that is what would benefit Cooking Vinyl, not the oldhits which the previous label still has rights over.

Shows have been fucking awesome, fans on both sides having a blast - and even a song I've heard live before doesn't suddenly make it a bad song. Being a jaded bedroom critic doesn't change the fact that people are having fun, and even long time MM fans who haven't been into the last few years are enjoying the show. CV was a partner for BV's release, not a controlling partner in MM as a band - random speculation is just misplaced.

The set list and the show is perfect for the Twins of Evil tour, because it's a co-headlining tour you've got people going to these shows who maybe aren't fans of Manson, only listen to his hits etc, so it's a good mix to please a mixed up crowd.
I think MM pointed it out in the Metal Hammer feature that it showcases his career. I've been hearing lots of positive comments from the Zombie fans at the show about the actual performance, the stage design and the songs being played. They're quick to bitch before the show, but afterwards they're having a change of opinion, which is good to hear.
So from the two shows I went to and the people I was surrounded by it was nothing by good.

It would be good to see some new BV songs get played for the 2013 US tour, but right now I think the set list is great for TOE.

Sorry Cringeon, but a few of the things you said are fairly irrelevant. No one is insinuating that Cooking Vinyl are apart of Marilyn Manson's band and none of us have any idea (as far as I know) as to what was in the contractual agreement between CV and MM so as far as I'm concerned speculating is simply just conversation. I think a good 90% of the shows played post the show where Manson played with The Doors have been really solid, my only qualm is with the set list, I don't see how that is the opinion of someone who is "jaded".

I have to admit that I haven't actually gone to a show since Soundwave although the Vienna show is in a few days. It's just that I thought Lest We Forget was supposed to "sum up his career" - Born Villain is the new album and conciquently it's my opinion that songs should be played live to support it. We all know it's important to have well known songs played but I just think a few less would make the show a lot better, by which I mean one or two more.

At the end of the day, it's Marilyn Manson and his band but I'm really curious to know how Marilyn Manson actually feels about playing the same songs night after night for as long as he has been doing it now because there must be a point where you stop feeling like an artist and more like a show pony for people like Cringeon.

You see, you can't even hold a conversation without resorting to insults. I've made it plenty clear that I'm all for a changed up setlist, but I'm not turned off by the current one either. There's probably a good half of the current set I'd be perfectly happy with being dropped live and replaced with older cuts and newer songs, but I don't let my opinion on what I would do with a setlist effect my experience of the show that MM the singer and band prepare and perform. This is their beautiful show.

All I've said is that current setlist makes for an amazing concert, not only expressed by me but by the countless others who've been going to these shows. Of course, if you are going to remain focused on that one aspect, you are probably going to have your opinion made up before you get in the door - but that still doesn't make the shows any less awesome because you want the artist to do something else. I call it jaded because you feel so strongly with your opinion of what YOU would do, that whatever the artist does is going to be less and labeled as "phoning it in" because it's the reasons you've created in your head.

As for CV, I'm just stating what I actually do know about that working relationship. They partnered with MM (and more specifically Hell ETC) to release BV. They are not part of the MM management team, nor the TOE tour. They do not have control over how the live shows go, or what markets they play in.

I didn't mean to insult you man but I found the jaded remark to be very unfair. I haven't said the show sucks or that they aren't amazing so you can just calm down. In my opinion the setlist isn't very exciting when the band has such a great back catalogue, it's a bit of a waste. As far as I know, management don't organise setlists where as labels can actually have a say into what is played (so many hits are to be played on the night, etc). To be clear, I am not saying this is happening but it is certainly a possibility.

I feel that you blow up some of the small things that I say and make them out to be something they are not (i.e, Manson bashing) and reply with a bunch of presumptious accusations of being me being delusional. Like I said in the last post, I'm genuinely curious as to why the setlist is the same night after night because it's coming up to a year now that he has been playing the same songs in the same order night after night and you at least have to admit it is a little strange that he would choose to do that when in every tour beforehand the setlist hasn't been so set in stone. It's never been enormously varied but it's the first time it shows have been so relentlessly routine.

The current set is from TOE which started two months ago. Though its only been about 7 months if you count the HCW dates. The beginning AUS/Asian dates had a different set. Plus he has a new tour after TOE, so things will keep changing as they always have on his solo shows.

I thought the Twins of Evil setlist was perfect for this tour. Ideal combination of new songs (Hey, Cruel World..., Slo-Mo-Tion, No Reflection), hit singles, covers and songs that just work well live. The show was to the point and varied and it was obvious why certain songs are still being played live, so he can't just stop playing them.

Now on the 2013 tour, where there's no Rob Zombie crowd and since the shows are smaller with less tickets sold, most of the people are gonna be true Manson fans there, so there's potential to change it up. I think he knows he can't tour the same country a third time with the same setlist.

I would start off with. A very hitler-Antichrist Superstar stage show. Twiggy would be wearing his dress. Bring back the Dreads! I would also make him wear the NAZI helmet along with fred and jason. I would have chandlers all of the stage and an old piano in the back. I would make the light show go a lot more intense, and a lot like a tool show. Id have red curtains everywhere. Also too make things very manson ish. Id get a choir in the back. All wearing the black and red satanic outfits. There would be dolls hung everywhere just like in 1995 tour. Obvs things would change throughout the show. hahahah just some ideas!

I like OP's setlist for the most part. But I wouldn't want everything on stage Antichrist Superstar themed. I'd like to see a new stage setup for Born Villain. I'd like to see some previous album themed stuff too of course, but I think it would be cool to have a lot of new stuff thrown in there. Born Villain is a good album that MM needs to promote by putting more songs from it in the setlist and by having the stage themed like the new album. I think they've done well with the stage set-up on the ToE Tour with making it updated and everything though. Just need more BV songs on the setlist.

Edit: LOL at the piano version of Mister Superstar (#15 on your setlist) being played with no keyboardist/pianist.

Also, if he insists on doing a cover or two in live sets forever, then why not mix it up? Most of us aren't tired of Sweet Dreams per say, but of course we'd rather hear Marilyn Manson originals. And if he really likes playing covers, then he has an awesome back catalogue to choose from. Actually I only just now realize how cool it was for him to bring back Personal Jesus. I'm sure we all thought we'd never hear it live again after Against All Gods/Lest We Forget. So, that was cool. Next time why not bring back Tainted Love, Golden Years, Down in the Park, Rock N Roll Nigger, Get My Rocks Off, Highway To Hell, Surrender, or the new Your So Vain. Would be fun to try any of these in place of Sweet Dreams.

Here is a set I would love to see. I'm the sort of person who thinks very methodically about which songs would compliment each other in the most appropriate ways, whilst also being a set you'd get a lot out of aesthetically and musically. If I wanted this to just be a Manson compilation then I'd submit different songs, that's another topic though, these are the ones I think would work best in the live arena.

This - for me at least - would be note-perfect. These aren't necessarily all my favourite Marilyn Manson songs, neither are they necessarily the best from their respective albums, or the best that could be given a performance live, but it's the fluid selection I feel does the right job of taking the audience on a journey through Manson's sound, whilst also visiting every studio album or 'era' at least once.

For the backing tracks, I wanted to use some of the incidental pieces Manson's done over the years. The opening track for The High End Of Low tour was one of the best, it worked with whatever they chose as an opener on each leg. There are other great ones though.

Does anyone want to replicate the experiment I made whilst writing this, and actually create a playlist of all these songs in order (with intro tapes if they have them) and see how you think it all sounds?
As I finish this post I am at Mechanical Animals, and the whole thing has sounded amazing, the transition from Deformography into The Love Song was especially brilliant, as are the opening bars of Spade that just started.
Can't wait for the conclusion...

Neat. I used to do that in notebooks when I was younger and only wishing I could see him . . . he doesn't come to the "deep south" that often, can't say that I blame him.

1. Willy Wonka intro/Cake and Sodomy
2. No Reflection
3. Disposable Teens
4. Overneath the Path of Misery (MacBeth intro of course)
5. Heart-Shaped Glasses
6. Saint
7. The Love Song
8. The Fight Song
9. The Death Song
10. Dope Hat Intro/The Dope Show
11. Sweet Dreams (with a combination of all the nifty endings he's done before, and maybe him spanking some naked women, as he's done before . . . heh)
12. Tourniquet
13. The Beautiful People
14. Coma White
15. 1996 Intro/Antichrist Superstar

Encore:

16. Armageddon
17. Irresponsible Hate Anthem
18. Lunchbox
19. Born Villain

Final Encore - to be reserved only for responsive crowds, _not_ the ones eating nachos and fucking around on their phones:

Man That You Fear

So in writing that up, I realized how tough it must be to try to please everyone, with so much to choose from and some albums that are "iffy" that anyone will remember, compared to his "classics" (i.e. the "trilogy" and stuff before that) . . . he does a great job as it is. The one show I did finally get to see him (and it wasn't easy, drove a barely-surviving jalopie many hours, on my own, with an also-deteriorating cell phone - and to boot, nearly got mugged while lost in an unfamiliar city - yeah, I love music enough to really wing it sometimes) did not read like a greatest hits list, they only gave him time for about ten songs (festival), and he didn't get around to the one I'd always wished I could hear live ("Coma White"). But it was still even more awesome than I had built my hopes for all those years. So I just hope he keeps the element of surprise going, and . . . a bit self-serving, hope he keeps "Coma White" in the mix until I can see him again, if that ever happens. Frankly I'm just glad he's still around, because when Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry are considered controversial, I feel like music has become way less exciting than when he came on the scene.

And if you're really gonna' talk the ideal show, I'd just really like to see him ham it up like maybe a presidential-speech mockery for "The Beautiful People," some desecration of Bible and flag at the right times, and so on. The stuff I knew him for back when. And even though he likes to dress in black coats and stuff now since I guess he's put on some weight, I think it'd be cool to do the older songs in fishnet stockings and stuff, bondage gear, or that weird outfit he had for a while that sort of looked like "mummy" wrappings. You don't have to have a beautiful body for that. It was meant to be kinda' gross and unsettling in the first place . . . eh, but I'm kinda' glad he's finding new ways to express himself . . . that stuff was good at the time he did it because he wanted to make a statement and provoke people. I can see where once it becomes known as a "shtick" there doesn't seem to be much point in it anymore, from an artistic point of view. But just being selfish . . . I would like to see a show where he brought an amalgam of all the theatrics he's done throughout his career. It sounds like he's pretty colorful on this tour though . . . the stuff I've read sounds pretty close to "ideal" IMHO. Too bad he's not coming back to the "Bible belt."

after seeing manson 3 times this year i feel the most common sense setlist that would make me happiest would be

1.) Crucifixion in Space (Great Opener)

4.) No Reflection

Don't know for the life of me if I've done this before (probably) but if I have, ride this out because I'm doing it again:

1.) The Golden Age of Grotesque (the basic "This is the golden age of grotesque" line would be such an intro in my mind, just, "here we are")
2.) Antichrist Superstar (but only if we hear a "hallelujah, motherfuckers" at the start, along with the weird elephant sound on Last Tour On Earth. To go from "La, la, la la . . ." to that would be wonderful)
3.) Posthuman (from "you are already dead" to a song called posthuman seems fitting)
4.) Disassociative
5.) Overneath the Path of Misery (EDIT: Forgot I'd need to say it but no Shakespeare)
6.) Cryptorchid (with single light from behind and snow machine)
7.) I Want to Disappear
8.) Valentine's Day
9.) The Fall of Adam (both because nothing transitions as well from VD, and also because it's gotta get played already, for fuck's sake)
10.) Spade
11.) Born Again
12.) The Reflecting God
13.) We're From America
14.) Target Audience
15.) Man That You Fear
16.) EAT ME, DRINK ME

And if he's got the wind in him to do an encore for the first time in ages, especially after a decent-length setlist:

Encore:

17.) Angel With the Scabbed Wings
18.) Mister Superstar
19.) Doll-Dagga . . .
20.) Coma White

I think it would open with a metric shitton of energy, have a lot of rarely played or never played while still having several staples and crowd-pleasers and offers one from almost every album, with a good chunk of the Triptych getting use as well as keeping the energy going despite having several softer or slower songs.

Seriously, if this became the setlist we saw for a year straight I would gladly buy tickets in a heartbeat (considering the most recent setlist I'd actually be happy attending, but this would be a "if I miss this I while beat myself up over it every day" situation).

I just finished reading a very recent Brian Molko (Placebo) interview (http://www.purevolume.com/news/placebo-brian-molko-interview-2013) today and came across something interesting:

"We kind of keep re-writing a lot of songs in order for them to become playable for us so that we can connect with them. Most recently, we’re on our fourth version of “Teenage Angst” from the first album. We have a brand new version of that, which is actually my favorite of the four. It took 20 years since I wrote that song for us to settle on what I think is the definitive version, but that’s OK"

A similar approach can possibly breath a new life in the overplayed singles MM want to play in all their shows. It's gotta make it a lot more fun for both the band to play and the audience to enjoy. They should probably start doing that on some level.

interesting idea
i wouldnt mind if marilyn and band fucked around on stage with overplayed songs
i think they do that anyways, somewhat

as far as rewriting songs and re releasing them
or playing the new version at all the shows? ehh
im not sure how i feel about that yet
seems blasphemous! lol
i think i would rather just hear less played songs,
or songs we havent even heard live yet
or new music

I wanna hear things like:

1. The Fall of Adam done on podium with swastika dollar signs instead of the shock symbol.

2. King Kill 33.

3. Antichrist Superstar, done all the way through like during Dead to the World.

4. Reflecting God with rising platform and constant smoke.

5. Dope Show opening with Dewey Cox story sample and the line "There's a war on drugs, but I surrender!"
and "Remember, kids: Do not do MY drugs!" Manson will wear a top hat for part of the song, and huge "DRUGS"
sign will be used.

6. Burning Flag while wearing an American flag. At the end of the song he burns it.

7. Sweet Dreams.

8. Hate Anthem. During the, "And all the children sing, 'WE HATE LOVE! WE LOVE HATE!' " intro, have roadies hold microphones on stands out over the audience.

9. Armagoddamnmotherfuckingeddon, movie set theme with cue cards. Band members wear Mickey Mouse ears.

10. New Shit.

11. SLO-MO-TION.

12. I Want to Kill You like they do in the Movies.

13. Pretty as a Swastika with Nazi officer hat.

14. Murderers.

15. Coma White done from inside the Space Cube.

16. Dissociative. He cuts his way out during the, "Three... two... one..." part. The idea is that he said that he can't escape, but he's proving himself wrong.

I love all the songs you want to see live, but personally I think it's crazy he hasn't done MISTER SUPERSTAR or SLUTGARDEN live. 2 amazing songs that I would love to dance (get violent) to. And I mean mister superstar as it appears on the album.

He has to play some hits, 90% of concert goes aren't die-hard fans. You'll find that same hits discussion in any band's forum. Personally, I don't ever see him to stop playing Sweet Dreams, The Beautiful People and The Dope Show. I do, however, see him drop Rock Is Dead, Disposable Teens and Personal Jesus. He really seemed to enjoy playing Personal Jesus during the last tour, though, and the props for it were incredible during the Twins of Evil/Masters of Madness tours.

Sometimes the rarities everyone's hoping for just don't work that well live, sometimes the classics just stand out the most. One of my favorite live moments was The Dope Show, for example.

The only thing I can't stand is The Beautiful People being the last song. I hate it, because usually that means the end of the show. That's why I'd love to see the comeback of the extended and varying encores.

Just look at the DTTW arena tour's setlist:

"Angel with the Scabbed Wings"
"Get Your Gunn"
"Cake and Sodomy"
"Dried Up, Tied and Dead to the World"

What do you think? I guess you have to be extremely lucky to get a long setlist like this but I'd love to hear rock n roll nigger, different sogs from MA and HW and more from THEOL and BV...I really don't care about EMDM...I like the album but not live and I'm sure he doesn't want to play anything off of it either.

I was thinking the other day about The Fight Song, I don't think that's been performed for a few years now, probably since 2008? and would be good to see that return to the set list.

It would certainly be interesting to see this new band play EMDM/THEOL/BV songs. Tyler Bates (and the rest of the band) really put No Reflection and Hey, Cruel World... on a different level.

Goddamn this band can make any song sound great.

A few years ago, I would have laughed my ass off at this setlist. It's pretty cool looking back at all the shit that has made it's return since the dark ages of 2007. I remember practically shitting myself with excitement when I read Cruci-Fiction in Space and Coma White made their returns on January 19th, 2008. I remember constantly watching the video of the first performance of King Kill 33 like an absolute lunatic, or staying up until 6 in the morning to see the setlist for the Masters of Madness tour, and becoming so goddamn excited I couldn't sit still when I saw Angel With The Scabbed Wings was opening. I, also, could not stop grinning when I was present at the show where Prelude (The Family Trip) was performed as an interlude to mOBSCENE.

I think fans should quit bitching about the setlist, especially since we've been pretty fucking lucky when it comes to rarities since Twiggy came back in 08. Shit, it's 2014, and Get Your Gunn made it's return in almost a decade. Maybe it's finally time for Cake and Sodomy to return.

EDIT: I completely forgot to mention, this setlist kicks ass. I'd be pumped if I saw even half of this show live.

What I would like is for Manson to tour solely on the strength of a new album, playing only the bare minimum of hit singles - "The Beautiful People", "The Dope Show", "Disposable Teens", and everything else taken straight off the most recent release. But Manson stopped being interested in doing that years ago.

So this is my attempt to construct a semi-realistic setlist, with two aims in mind:

1. Deliver a mix of rarities and concert staples to fans of every stripe.
2. Produce a show that Manson can perform, front to back, without any risk of fucking up.

I will not include any tracks off The Pale Emperor. THEOL and EMDM are also probably pipe-dreams, and I don't give a shit about hearing anything off the former live anyway. I apologize for the drunken ramble.

I'll give my rationale for the more outre choices when I get to them:

1. Intro ("Repent"/"The Flower Duet"/"Suspiria"/whatever is going at the moment)

2. "Angel With The Scabbed Wings" - great opener, high energy, unheard of between 1997 and now. Keep it.

3. "No Reflection" - a fine live single, not overplayed, I don't want Born Villain to disappear down the set-list rabbit hole the way past albums have.

4. "The Love Song" - I loved when this was brought back a few years ago. It's a great 'heavy' Manson track that isn't hard on the vox.

5. "I Don't Like The Drugs (But The Drugs Like Me)" - this was a charting hit single off of Manson's second-most successful record. No, it didn't get the airplay of "The Dope Show" or "Rock Is Dead", but it did enter the public consciousness nevertheless, and it would break up the monotony of the same two MA songs being played on every tour since that era. There is no excuse for this song not having been performed since the Rock Is Dead tour, nor for it being absent from Lest We Forget. And it makes sense performance-wise: it's not as vocally harsh a track as "Rock Is Dead", and the back-up singers - which could be prerecorded if there isn't money to hire singers - would give Manson a breather.

I am religious about this one. I'm not even a major fan of the song, but it needs presence.

6. "Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)" - since we're never going to actually get the fucking thing off the set, stick it in the first third. If Manson were ever willing to drop it, insert "I Put A Spell On You" here instead.

7. "mOBSCENE" - we're lucky this one stuck around after Twiggy returned. Keep it.

Now that most of the mandatory space for singles is out of the way...

8. "In The Shadow Of The Valley Of Death" or "Disassociative" - a soft rarity ought to go here. We're approaching the midpoint of the show, time to take a breather.

9. "Little Horn" - it's still a surprise to me, and we need a high energy track right around here.

10. "Cruci-Fiction In Space" or "User Friendly" - a heavy rarity; whichever one is used ought to come off the album that didn't make the cut for song eight. Neither requires much screaming.

11. "Slo-Mo-Tion" - again, Born Villain deserves representation, it's not a terribly hard song on the vox, and we're probably never going to see anything from EMDM or THEOL live again.

12. "The Nobodies" - utterly no reason for this track to be off any Manson live set ever.

13. "Coma White/Coma Black" - this really should become a staple. Manson performs them both pretty flawlessly. This would be a good 'breather' section if you extend some of the instrumentals.

14. "Irresponsible Hate Anthem" - go for broke on this one. We're towards the end of the show now anyway, so just get chaotic.

15. "The Beautiful People" - because we're never fucking going to get rid of it. If Manson were willing to ever drop it, insert "Tourniquet" between one of the songs above.

There's fourteen songs. If the tour is in support of a new record, you can insert two or three singles off the new album anywhere above, depending on their style. The trick is to separate out the harsh vocal songs without weakening the set - use those heavy songs that don't rely on screaming.

Being realistic, we're never going to see a full Portrait track again, and to be honest, that doesn't really bother me much. If one makes it onto a set as a one-off or something, it ought to be "Dope Hat", which I'm betting would actually work better with Manson's aged, raspier vocals over it.

EDIT: Wait lol, they're playing "Get Your Gunn" again. Still, get that shit off the set and get "Dope Hat" on. I think he could handle it a lot better.

Also: get a goddamn prerecorded back-up on some of the multitracked songs.

Gosh, I like playing around with setlists. I think that there's so many combinations that are doable, and it wouldn't hurt to shake it up a little with some EMDM or THEOL on this new tour. So here's another one I've been thinking about, it's a little shorter than the previous ones, so if Manson were to maybe swap out similar songs or throw some in there that would be lovely. Revising my post, now that we know more about the album. This will include my explanation for the placement of each song, and is a hybrid of my wishful thinking and my realistic expectations.

1. "Angel With The Scabbed Wings" - Because it worked wonderfully as an opener on the pre-tour.

2. "Deep Six" - Manson likes to put "Disposable Teens" in the second song slot, but "Deep Six" would work better here.

3. "The Third Day Of A Seven Day Binge" - third day, third song, and a vocal break from the preceding high-intensity songs.

4. "The Fight Song" - Because "Disposable Teens" needs a break.

5. "No Reflection" - I do not want Born Villain to go the way of the prior two records and vanish from the set.

6. "I Don't Like The Drugs (But The Drugs Like Me" - I have already elaborated on the need to bring this one back elsewhere. Suffice it to say that it absolutely needs to replace "Rock Is Dead". It's also an easier song on Manson's voice.

7. "m(OBSCENE)" - Because I'm tired of "This Is The New Shit" and TGAOG will always have exactly one spot on the set-list.

8. "Sweet Dreams" - Because Manson will play this until he's dead.

9. " Cupid Carries A Gun" - This one just 'feels' like it belongs next to a Smells Like Children track.

10. "The Dope Show" - Because Manson will play this until he's dead.

11. "The Nobodies" - A guy can hope. This really needs to be brought back.

12. "The Mephistopheles Of Los Angeles" - This will probably be the next real single, and should be a late-set inclusion.

13. "Mister Superstar" - Will likely continue to be the token ACSS 'rarity'.

14. "Slave Only Dreams To Be King" w/"Antichrist Superstar" introduction and podium - This would be a mite ambitious on Mazza's part, but could be amazingly instrumental in revitalizing his live show.

15. "The Devil Beneath My Feet" - One last, more obscure The Pale Emperor cut, just for funsies.

16. "The Beautiful People" - Because Manson will play this until he's dead.

17. "Odds Of Even' - Outro.

Whatchya think? A little long for a contemporary Manson performance, but if he really does have faith in this new material, I think this would be an excellent set-list. On days he's feeling especially up to it , he might consider throwing in a real rarity like "In The Shadow Of The Valley Of Death".

I nixed "Get Your Gunn". I'd rather have new material than reheated Portrait shit. But I bet he keeps it because of misguided fanservice.

And I hope and pray (for Hell) that, if "Moonage Daydream" isn't played regularly, that "Sweet Dreams" is the only cover on the set.

Now , if I had my druthers, he'd scrap "The Dope Show" and "The Beautiful People" and replace them with two other great singles - "Heart-Shaped Glasses" and "Torniquet", say - and "Sweet Dreams" with another classic cover like "Rock And Roll Nigger". It's really those three tracks that hurt a live Manson show. But I'm not delusional enough to think that'll ever happen.

Thank you, thank you.

My gripe isn't so much that he plays old singles as it is that he overplays the same singles: why "Personal Jesus" and not "Tainted Love", which I don't even like as much as the Depeche Mode cover but which has the added virtue of not having been played on every tour since 2005? Why has "I Don't Like The Drugs..." not been performed since 1999, when it charted higher than "Rock Is Dead"? So I tried to keep that in mind while still trying to be reasonable.

Swampy TPE-y version of Fundamentally Loathsome mid-show. Fucking want it! >_< (listening to MA all day today)

Always thought that song would be awesome live. That amazing guitar solo with that amazing ending.

And he should bring back Mechanical Animals with the stilts. it was awesome in 1998-99, and still was awesome in 2008.

And lets agree Odds Of Even being a outro.

I thought of a brutally perfect setlist for this current band line up that i think we can all agree on and is realistic.

Killing Strangers (perfect intro to the new era! could see manson wearing an outfit similar to like he did for the speed of pain. )
Deep Six ( its a single. its epic. )
Disassosiative (Imagine seeing this song this early into the set. One of the best tracks ever. sounded great last year. )
No Reflection (Sounds choice with the new band. Really makes me like the track a lot more! )
Slave Only Dreams To Be Free (More TPE the better.)
Sweet Dreams/Rock N Roll Nigger (I remember back in the day when ginger would smash the kits on rock n roll nigger; bring on gill )
Tourniquet (Sounded great in 2014. One of my personal favourites)
Cupid Carries A Gun (Again, TPE, and is truly a new manson classic. )
Mechanical Animals (One of most brilliant sounded manson tracks in terms of layers, two guitars would be perfect)
This Is New Shit (sounds great live with the new band and got to represent some GOAG)
Third Day Of A Seven Day Binge (sounds better live than on the record, and the record blew my mind.)
The Mephistopheles Of Los Angeles (Great ender)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Reflecting God/Crucifixion In Space (More Antichrist or Holywood. Both are epic and some of twiggy's best work.)
The Beautiful People (Do I even have to explain why this is here.)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Originally I was going to convert the average setlist from the Hell Not Hallelujah Tour and swap out some choice songs, but it got away from me a tiny bit. However, I do believe that this setlist is certainly doable by the current band Manson has now. They'd need to get together and practice and learn some of the less-played material. However, they DO know how to play about 70% of this setlist already.

1. Deep Six (with Requiem or Lakme: The Flower Duet Intro)
2. Disposable Teens
3. Great Big White World (with “snow”, and Mason wearing a trench coat and hat, with laser gloves)
4. mOBSCENE
5. Killing Strangers (at end of song, bright white strobe and sound to mimic machine gun fire)
6. Murderers Are Getting Prettier Everyday (lighting gets chaotic, a lot of swirling red and blue lights, ends abruptly with a loud crashing and a siren outro)
7. Just a Car Crash Away (with Murderers siren outro merging into a siren intro)
8. Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)/Hell Outro
9. Cake and Sodomy/Lunchbox (Cake and Sodomy played to about half-way, with the “stained-glass windows” illuminated lighter than they would usually be, and in odd colors such as purple, stops dramatically and cuts to Lunchbox intro with a “Pop” of confetti)
10. Arma-Goddamn-Motherfucking-Geddon (with projected spinning “money swastika” signs on the backdrop)
11. Slave Only Dreams to Be King
12. The Dope Show (with Diary of a Dope Fiend intro, projected “DRUGS” or actual sign raised)
13. This is the New Shit
14. The Love Song (with Celebritarian Altar, Celebritarian Cross flickers from double to right-side up, white Celebritarian banners dropped, possibly Manson in his bishop attire)

-Right after The Love Song, the lights go dark for a small amount of time, with the Celebritarian Cross fully illuminated. When the intro to Antichrist begins, the cross flickers and then turns into an upside-down one for the remainder of the song-

15. Antichrist Superstar (additional dark “shock” banners are dropped, as well as on the front of the altar, the lighting color dominantly red)
16. Warship My Wreck (lighting changes back to a less-violent blue hue, Celebritarian cross lowered/skewed and lightly flickers to give a “broken” appearance, lightning-esque flashes in the background also)

Encore:
17. The Beautiful People
18. Mister Superstar/1996 (Abridged Mr. Superstar launches into 1996, Manson on guitar in the beginning, lighting subtle at first but then descending to chaotic for 1996, culminating in a directed epic end breakdown orchestrated by Manson’s arms or by him smashing things)

Well, my last submission to this topic was prior to the release of The Pale Emperor - HERE (http://www.providermodule.com/forum/showthread.php/4776-Ideal-Manson-Tour-Setlist?p=147476&viewfull=1#post147476) - and whilst that list is a pretty perfect set, I think some material could be shifted around to represent and compliment the new record. So, whether it was for the forthcoming tour, or just a really nice, fluid set that covered the majority of his career, here's what I came up with:-

http://www.providermodule.com/journal/images/disc_left_header.png

[intro . recorded track, preferably by the band]

01. No Reflection
02. Born Again
03. Killing Strangers
04. Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)
05. The Love Song
06. Deep Six
07. Mechanical Animals
08. Disposable Teens
09. Slo-Mo-Tion
10. Astonishing Panorama Of The Endtimes

[brief interlude . pre-recorded backing]

10. Four Rusted Horses [Opening Titles]
11. Snake Eyes And Sissies
12. You And Me And The Devil Makes 3
13. Slave Only Dreams To Be King
14. Murderers Are Getting Prettier Every Day
15. Antichrist Superstar

[final interlude . extended mix of penultimate song intro]

16. Devour
17. The Last Day On Earth

http://www.providermodule.com/journal/images/disc_left_header.png

I understand that there's a few tracks repeated from my previous list - some even in the same position - but I definitely see this as a complimentary selection.
If I had to make a few amendments, I think Odds Of Even would replace ...Last Day, and although it would affect the dynamic between songs a little, perhaps Apple Of Sodom or Spade in place of Snake Eyes.
There is no Golden Age in this revision, and very little from ...Superstar or EAT ME, DRINK ME, mainly because I think if you had to get a broad spectrum of everything on stage, and allow some breaks for the pace of different songs, this is the best way to do it. I've tried listening to most of this 'Set' using album cuts, and it does work. It's funny how people criticise Twiggy as guitarist, or neglect his writing style, because his two most prominent 'Blood Heavy' albums; Holy Wood and Born Villain, have arguably got some of the best Manson songs to play live.

As I said last time, other compilations would be more suited to a 'Mixtape', so maybe I'll actually do that topic sometime soon, it's been covered somewhat in Another One Just Like You quite frequently already.

Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys the looks of this set, let me know if you dig it.

3.) Disposable Teens
4.) Birds Of Hell Awaiting
5.) No Reflection
6.) Lunchbox

13.) This Is New Shit
14.) Mephistopholes Of Los Angeles

A perfect setlist in this moment shouldn't include sweet dreams, the beautiful people nor rock is dead, also not any cover. Manson repertory is quite extensive and some great songs should be added to the setlist instead of the same repetitive setlist.

Without any order these are the songs I would like to see in the setlist.

Dried up tied and dead to the world
Dope Hat
The Mephistopheles Of Los Angeles
Astonishing Panorama Of The End Times
ArmaGDMFgeddon (which was played horribly during it's time, and would be nice to hear it with a proper guitarist and a Manson with great attitude)
Heart Shaped Glasses Or Putting Holes In Happiness (a song from EMDM it would be nice)
Leave A Scar
Mechanical Animals
I don't like The Drugs
Burning Flag
Angel With The Scabbed Wings.

And of course a bunch of his hits like

The Dope Show
Deep Six
Disposable Teens
Hey Cruel World
ACSS
etc.

I post in this section a lot, but i really came up with a set this band should try, or at least i would love to see.

SETLIST

1.) Angel With The Scabbed Wings
2.) Snake Eyes And Sissies
3.) The Fight Song
4.) Great Big White World
5.) Mechanical Animals
6.) Third Day Of A Seven Day Binge
7.) Lunchbox
8.) Sweet Dreams
9.) Tourniquet
10.) Killing Strangers
11.) Lunchbox
12.) Disassociative
13.) Rock N Roll Nigger
14.) Irresponsible Hate Anthem
15.) Cake And Sodomy
16.) The Reflecting God

Lots of Old Classics, a decent blend of new material. Rock N Roll Nigger, Snake Eyes, The Reflecting God, The Fight Song, would all sound brilliant with this band, and are all achievable with a 4 piece band. Energy, Raw Rock n Roll.

SWEET BORING DREAMS totally excluded! :D More Holy Wood tracks, not only singles and mix of songs not only AS song the most part of the show. It would be amazing if someday MM would include an acoustic set in the middle of the concert, his voice sounds better in acoustic songs.

I love the idea of "Slave only dreams to be king" as an opener, it would work great with the curtain falling down after the speech.
I just thought of one setlist using this idea:

1. Slave Only Dreams to be King
2. The Nobodies
3. Overneath the Path of Misery/Killing Strangers outro
4. They Said the Hell's not Hot
5. Kinderfield

Having had time to digest The Pale Emperor...

I've set myself three criteria in developing this list.

1. That it not be significantly longer than a typical contemporary Manson set. If Manson tends to average about sixteen songs on a given tour, as seems to be the case, I'll limit myself to nineteen tracks.

2. That the set take into account his relatively diminished capacity as a screaming vocalist. Manson could probably blast through a ten-or-twelve song set dominated by the heaviest material in the discography, but I think that most fans, myself included, prefer a longer performance with softer songs punctuating the heavier tracks.

3. I've written this from the assumption that Manson's touring in support of a new release. So my initial nineteen slots I allotted myself is already diminished.

Let's see what I can come up with - hopefully a setlist that's both different from the standard singles set and at least marginally realistic. I'm also going to operate under the assumption that POAAF, EMDM, THEOL, and to a lesser extent BV are back on the agenda, however mistaken this assumption assuredly is.

(Intro)
1. *Heavy lead-off single from new record*
2. "Deep Six"
3. "Cake And Sodomy"
4. "(m)OBSCENE"
5. "The Dope Show"
6. *Obligatory softer second single from new record*
7. "Torniquet"
8. "The Love Song"

10. "Four Rusted Horses"
11. *New non-single track here*

15. "Slo-Mo-Tion"

I think Manson needs to step it up for this upcoming tour. He has a competition, like two "Metal" bands. The crowd will be divided into 3 fans: Slipknot, Marilyn Manson, And Of Mice & Men fans. He can't go out playing The Dope Show, or Third Day..., ect, the crowd will be bored. Its ok for his own tours, but Co-Headlining a Metal tour, idk. So... As we all know MM will supposedly be playing a "Classic" album, which we all know is ACSS. He needs to, in order to keep up.

Intro (New Intro?)
Angel With The Scabbed Wings
Disposable Teens
The Fight Song
Murderers Are Getting Prettier Everyday
Tourniquet
Sweet Dreams
Little Horn
Get Your Gunn / Cake And Sodomy
Irresponsible Hate Anthem
Rock Is Dead
Antichrist Svperstar

Encore:
The Reflecting God

Since he hasn't been on tour since November, I assume he has been exercising again, so if he keeps that up, he will be able to last this set list.

Disagreed.

Personally, I think the setlists have been a GREAT mix of Manson's staples along with fun covers and stuff. Random oldies every leg! Whatever the hell he sings during "Lunchbox!" I've seen LOTS of Manson shows at metal fests and with similar line-ups, and hearing a badass, catchy, sing-along set of harder-edged, pop-infused rock in between, say, Slipknot and whatever the hell Of Mice and Men brings to the table sounds like a GREAT idea to me. I mean, he IS undeniably pop and it DOES help set Manson apart from the rest.

Especially at shows as large as those coming up soon, I could count on ONE HAND the number of Slipknot songs the WHOLE crowd knows almost EVERY word to and sings along with...which is like ZERO for the opener.

Throw Manson into the middle of that and it's more like 90 PERCENT you can say that about.

And, MAN, it's a breath of fresh air.

BRING IT.

I think you're right. It'd be a much more "Fun" show, if he played the hits. But I don't think he should shy away from the harder songs.

A good slipknot support setlist would be

Reflecting God
Fight Song
Irresponsible Hate Anthem
Beautiful People

People saying it's a "pretty solid setlist" makes me cringe. There are the same old singles, basically in the same order. It's awful. If Manson wants to play singles in its majority, so be it, but he could easily put The Nobodies, I Don't Like the Drugs (But the Drugs Like Me) and Dope Hat, for example.
Plus. it's a SHAME he put The Pale Emperor aside. I mean, only Deep Six? REALLY??? It's wrong. It's FUCKING wrong.

I'm gonna see him in September and yes, it's gonna be awesome, yes, I'm gonna cry, and dance, and jump, and scream and sing along to every song, but it IS a weak setlist.

^^ THIS ^^

Who goes to a MM show just waiting to hear Mobscene, No Reflection, This is the new shit, Disposable teens etc!

The only saving grace on this set is Angel w Scabbed Wings.

Some fans on here sound like they've just moved on from My Chemical Romance or something.

I'm trying to keep it 'realistic', that is why I will add songs like Dispasble Teens and The Beautiful People, songs I'm kinda sick of.

Hate Anthem/Reflecting God
Great Big White World (yeah same intro as GGG, loved that)
Disposable Teens
Pretty as a Swastika
Third Day of a Seven Day Binge
Target Audience
Mechanical Animals
Slave Only Dreams to be King
Dope Show
Mister Superstar/Warschip my Wreck (as seen on YouTube, man, I wish I was there)
I Want to Kill You Like they Do in the Movies
Sweet Dreems/Rock n Roll Nigger
I Have to Look Up Just to See Hell
Cupid Carries a Gun
King Kill 33/Antichrist Superstar (loved that as well in 2012, especially visually)
Lunchbox
Eat Me, Drink Me
Born Villain (with the Crucifiction podium at the outro)

Rock is Dead
Beautiful People

Odds of Even

Guess the length isn't very realistic lol

That's pretty good Indeed.
I have experienced most of those songs live.
One that I haven't ever experienced live is "Great big white world". It is the one song on Your list that I desire to hear the most : )

Bringing this thread back into rotation because I realised how great it could be if even just one of these songs made a return to live shows:
Kinderfeld,
Apple of Sodom,
The Love Song.

I'd imagine they are not incredibly demanding of the band to perform and in my opinion would compliment both what's going on outside and just where Manson is at in his career right now. Not sure how to word it, just really would like to see any of those brought back because I can see them being so good with this lineup and the feel I get from SAY10.

I don't have an actual setlist in mind right now, but I have been entertaining the idea of having Disassociatiive being performed right next to Running to the Edge of the World.

Mechanical Animals in its entirety.
The 20th Anniversary of Mechanical Animals is coming and I hope Manson will commemorate it with a little tour around the world.
I would die to see that happen!!

I think with a new bassist coming in, Manson should only play new songs:

I . REVALATION #12
II. KILLING STRANGERS
III. SLAVE ONLY DREAMS TO BE KING
IV. WE KNOW WHERE YOU F*** LIVE
V. GREAT BIG WHITE WORLD
VI. SAY10
VII. JE$I$ CRISIS
VIII. LUNCHBOX
VIV. DOPE SHOW
X . HEAVEN UPSIDE DOWN
------------------------
XI. SATURNALIA
XII. THE BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE
XIII. THE REFLECTING GOD

That would be beautiful. Not sure if Saturnalia would go over well live though. I do love the track, but, like Say10, I don’t think it’d work as well as a live song. Maybe as an outro though like they did with the medley of Mister Superstar and Warship My Wreck.

That's be great. But like Cataract said, Saturnalia might not work well live. But I think. Threats Of Romance would be great live, as a closer.

Something like that? Maybe haha, I think it's kind of realistic compared to wanting some EM:DM and THEOL, also only 15 songs which is pretty standard for Manson nowadays

I think, considering Manson's current situation, he should come out on stage looking like this:

http://www.nachtkabarett.com/ihvh/img/tarot_emperor.jpg

The helmet, Gun, vintage wheelchair and all. Singing King Kill 33 or something from HW. Would be badass.

I am really liking the new line up and am not complaining really... but dont you all agree 13/14 songs isnt enough??? Back in 2007 we were getting 17 songs... thats what a full show is too me.

so here i go for the 100th time . What do you think of this setlist ?

Quite realistic too, I wouldnt be surprised if Saturnalia will end up on the setlist.

And yes, the shows have been way too short these past years. I dont know why because occasionally they play longer shows and from the footage Ive seen they were fantastic. Manson seems to be able to pull if off, no question there

It actually just occurred to me that perhaps Apple of Sodom and Say10 can also work very well being played next to each other. The transition would seem to work rather well.
