Hmm.

I'll be in Dallas a couple days before this anyway with a few more days on my Greyhound pass so I'm thinking seriously about going to this show.

Never been to Mexico and I don't speak spanish but I've always wanted to see Manson outside of the U.S., even if only by a little bit. That Mayhem Fest in Toronto back in '09 would've been easier but it got cancelled. Still, at least my passport is ready to go!

Is there any further info on the details for this show and where exactly it's going to be?

Thanks, just trying to figure out how easily do-able this is.

:)

^ Perfect, thanks!

Here's a link to the exact location if anyone's curious:

http://www.maquinariafest.com/mx-gdl/lugar/

Only about 12 miles of I-HAVE-NO-IDEA-WTF-I'M-DOING away from the Greyhound stop, lol.

I've managed worse, I guess.

Hey, man! I had access to a real computer briefly a while ago and saw your awesome PM to me but didn't have time to respond since I've been rushing all over the place for a month now. Still thinking VERY seriously about going to this show in a couple days & could DEFINITELY use all the help I can get getting around once I'm down there...but now I'm stuck using PM Mobile on my crappy phone & can't see or respond to any of my PMs!
If there's any way we could make plans through this thread and/or over facebook (I'm Haz E Kiah there, btw) then that would be a lot easier. It'd be really cool to meet you in person after all these years & I could TOTALLY make it worth your while! ;)

On the PM mobile skin it should say something like Use Full Site so you can turn it off. We're going to be improving the mobile skin/functions soon.

ZOMFG, that would be AMAAAAZING, thanks! And, yeah, I've tried switching to the full site version a million times since I got my latest phone(s) a few months ago but they're only not-completely-braindead phones instead of actual smartphones so they just can't handle the full site at all and the browser freezes if I even TRY, lol. Can't wait to see the new digs, thanks again! :D

Wellll, damnit.

I've been traveling with an unlimited-use 2 month Greyhound Discovery Pass since they still have to honor them until they expire even though Greyhound has cancelled them as of a month ago. Unfortunately, even though they're still valid for travel on the U.S. and Canada bus routes, Greyhound Mexico is being a bastard and has already stopped honoring them altogether.

Nice of them to tell me that before I got all the way to El Paso, TX. Oh, wait...they didn't.

-_-

Annnyway, I'm really bummed about all this. I was really looking forward to meeting you at my first Manson show outside of the U.S. and finally being able to see a bit of Mexico.

Not to mention that this would've been my 100th Manson concert!

So thanks SO MUCH for everything but I guess we'll have to meet up another time. Booooo.

Just make sure and have an AWESOME time at the show FOR me!!!

show was amazing buy way too short.
same setlist.
(sorry for my poor knowladge in the english this may be some grammas mistakes)

Manson came out 30 minutes late, but he was really great, also the band was great as well, at some points is like you are watching some tribute band doing Manson covers, but all in all, Manson was into the audience, very comunicative and doing all kind of things, Twiggy is not good at the guitar, but he has an amazing stage precense, Fred it is just ok, Jason throw on his sticks and one of his plates to the audience.
Manson broke his guitar at the end of slo-mo-tion, it was really nice to see, by the way, the audience did not know slo-mo-tion, but it went crazy with personal jesus, it was really weird.
Manson's voice is in top form, he doesn't lost any scream or note he is just amazing to watch.

Great show.

i just don't see how he can play such a short setlist, it makes no sense to me. Radiohead is playing upwards of 22 songs a show and he's playing not even 15...

Norsefire

Well these shows are a festival so they probably have a short set anyway.

Festival shows definitely have a much stricter time allowed for each band, and if he closes the show most cities have curfews that you have to stick by or face fines.

30 minutes late on a festival slot is very late.

^Unheard of actually. I wonder why they played such a stripped down show. Where are all the theatrics?

Norsefire

I mentioned this in the other thread as well, and Heather Quick pointed out that this show was the same as well. It seems they've not taken the whole Twins of Evil stage show with them to these festival dates, so they're using the set up they had during the first legs of the HCW tour this year.
I assume they will be back to using everything else again once the TOE tour starts in Europe at the end of the month.

NapalmHeart

^Already shipped to Europe. They're not gonna ship the full production to Mexico just for 2 festival shows. Still looks like a cool show. He could have thrown in some extra songs though, since he had a 90 minutes slot to play and no Rob Zombie cutting his set short ;) If he had added Tourniquet, The Reflecting God, Murderers and the Coma Black ending (that recently got cut for whatever reason, it was always beautiful to hear) it would have been a perfect show.

I don't know about the other Maquinaria shows, but in Argentina MM are scheduled to play from 9:55PM until 11:10PM.

Well these shows are a festival so they probably have a short set anyway.

I don't think so.
it doesnt' matter if this are festivals or not. he always plays 13 or 14 songs per show, and that's boring and predictable.

Hazekiah
11-05-2012, 05:26 PM
It's pretty straightforward, actually. Since it's a co-headlining tour the arrangement is that the bills for EVERYTHING are split 50/50 right down the middle. So unless the band decides to pay international freight shipping rates to Mexico for their own solo shows, everything they got for the Twins of Evil dates needs to be shipped along with Rob Zombie's equipment wherever that tour's going next instead. And considering it's expensive and there's only a smattering of dates in Mexico it's simply not cost effective and possibly not even possible to use the stuff in a festival setting anyway.

Likewise, festivals are forced to maintain a fairly rigid schedule for each band so as to allow all the OTHER bands enough time to do THEIR show. So, yeah, it really DOES matter.

Plus, these were never booked as Twins of Evil shows so it's unreasonable to assume they would be decked-out like one.

I understand where you guys are coming from but you really need to try seeing the bigger picture and thinking things through a little more rationally. No matter how much the theatrics and stagecraft and showmanship manage to remove you from the daily humdrum of everyday living, the business side of the tour itself still happens within the constraints of the very real world in which it takes place.

Sorry.

Manson and the crowd both have a ton of energy for this show, and someone nailed some awesome video of it. Great to see.

I think the reason the last couple shows aren't as elaborate as the Twins of Evil shows is because they're two different tours... The Hey Cruel World tour is way more stripped down, while the Twins of Evil tour was way more elaborate.
