I reeeeelly wanted to go to this one, but I can't seem to find any direct bus or train routes from NYC. There's nothing that I'm missing/don't know about, right? The reason it needs to be a direct route is because I'm going to be getting ready to move at the end of January and I can't afford to lose an extra one or two days to travel. Even greyhound is not being helpful. Blah.

Okay, I'm just going to predict that Manson is going to troll for the first two shows of this tour. Tonight's show will also be the same set list. However, the Columbus show will be two and a half hours, will feature Lady Gaga-esque costumes and theatrics, and will have a total of 28 songs on the set list. Reflecting God will appear on said list three times and tomorrow will be the night he plays Fundamentally Loathsome for the first time. Get your dancey hats on, bitches.

Cool to see they're finally selling the Celebritarian hats. Why didn't they have them last year!?!?

That double cross shirt was on sale in the UK too... althought slightly different, this new version looks better. But I have to say I think its one of the worst MM shirt designs available on the stands, the whole layout of MARILYN / MANSON just puts me off. A simple cross would have been better I think.

12. Coma White
13. King Kill 33

The power of Christ compéls you!

Exactly. I think this was new, as neither Twiggy nor Fred knew what was going on immeadiately. Also, the song was extended a minute or two while it happened. It was pretty cool.

Olivia
01-21-2013, 12:36 AM
Seriously. His vocals were in top form. We both went to the infamous Detroit TOE show and were pleased with his performance. There were still those moments when he sounded unpleasant. However, he sounded so much better than he even did in October. I am a little sad that we got cheated out of a song because he threw the mic into the audience, but it was a great show. I think Zsa Zsa got some videos that capture his good vocals.

The story behind Manson being an evangelical "healer" during Personal Jesus was because he kept getting the lyrics wrong and said fuck it and hardly sang the song after that point and the band just played and Manson was yelling stuff like "you are healed" and had them playing their guitars lying down on the ground. It was funny.

This would be great. Portrait, specialy, deserved a better treatment. I'ts an incredible album, fans love it and the songs would give the show a special fresh tune. But overall, Mansons catalogue is so vast that it is a shame not being better explored live. Even for the bands sanity this would be beneficial.

Show was phenomenal, the best I've seen in 6 concerts excluding the Rock Is Dead tour Stood out in the line for about an hour or more...so fucking cold. Pit was fairly rough....good times. And the 40 or 50 something year old man who bit my hand trying to take a towel away that Twiggy threw out needs to die, as does the security guard who made me give it up so he could hand it to some dumb cunt who probably showed her tits. The Butcher Babies I thought gained a little momentum towards the end of their set, but I felt like the sound was awful. You could not even hear their voices most of the time.

I really think this is a stupid and disrespectful act. It wasn't a present, she stole it and she's proud of it. Personally, even if I'd love to keep it, I'd give it back to the crew because I think they only have one mic like this and they had to buy another one + an american fist (by luck, they had 2 days to buy another one before the next show). Ok it's not a big deal for them but I hate this mentality.

Cringeon
01-22-2013, 09:41 AM
The band has plenty of mics, you don't go on the road without spares galore. Probably what happened is the time it would take to look for the first Mic, and then swap him a 2nd, MM probably just said "fuck it" lol. Hell, he could grab Twigs mic if needed, it was just how things go at the end. If they couldn't just go into it smoothly they probably figured not a lot to fuss over.

suphiafilos
01-22-2013, 09:48 AM
I agree with you, sexy.sushi , people need to understand that it is stealing!
For me it is the same as I let my phone fall on the floor and someone next to me catches it saying "oh it was on the floor, I deserve it".

I remember that happened something similar with Piggy D.'s mask (I think) that fall from the stage and someone catched it and didn't return and all band was asking it back explaining that that mask was unique. (I don't remember how this story ended)

EDIT: oh, and yes, I don't believe that they only have one mic. If Manson really wanted to play Little Horn he could had any other mic.
For example the one with a knife

Shangri-LIE
01-22-2013, 01:02 PM
I had a great time at the show, but that bitch made me miss Little Horn. She stole his microphone. Security should have jumped the barricade, put her into submission, and confiscated the mic as SOON as it happened. She ruined the encore. Way to go slut. Fuck you. I hope the person you end up selling that to is a person who wanted to hear the full setlist and comes to your house and knocks your teeth out with the knife mic.

I seem to recall an interview where he said that he resisted wireless mics for so long because every now and then he'd send a mic flying. Kind of like how all of my game controllers/mice/keyboards are wired...

And I agree with those saying that it should have been returned. Had it been me, I'd have lovingly stroked it for a few seconds... then I'd be known as the girl who saved the encore by rescuing Manson's mic.

Whether there are backups handy or not isn't the issue, in my eyes... that's not exactly a cheap piece of equipment and throwing it to the crowd was far from intentional.

Lydia

There's no need to be violent towards her! If Manson really wanted to play another song I'm quite sure that he would manage it.
What people really need to understand is that it does not belong to them, just that.

Local media review of the show

http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/arts/2013/01/21/review-marilyn-manson.html
4

The freak show that is Marilyn Manson entertained a packed Lifestyle Communities Pavilion for 70 minutes last night. For some folks, they were reliving the questionable taste of their youth; but for many, this band rates highly in their pantheon of rocking role models.

After enduring a pockets-emptying pat-down; an interminably bad opening act and a longer-than-usual wait for the headliner that had drunken pairs of people (a mess of tattoos, facial piercings, unnaturally-colored hair and a lot of male ponytails) jockeying for a good view by pushing others out of the way, the black curtain finally fell as the sunglass-wearing, face-painted Manson launched into Hey, Cruel World (from their latest album Born Villain).

For those not familiar with them, Marilyn Manson is the creation of 44-year-old Canton-born Brian Hugh Warner. He adopted the stage name Marilyn Manson — a juxtaposition of Marilyn Monroe and Charles Manson, and named the group after himself. Other band members (and there have been many) have sometimes followed suit, naming themselves after American female cultural icons and mass murderers. Since its formation in 1989, despite loads of controversy (including a congressional hearing), an androgynous image and disturbing videos, Marilyn Manson has sold 50 million recordings.

In a way, there’s nothing really new about Manson’s shock-rock shtick — combine the theatrics and music of Alice Cooper, Diamond Dogs-era David Bowie, Bauhaus, Kiss, KMFDM, Nine Inch Nails and Rob Zombie, and you have the gist of the group’s sound and imagery. However, Manson’s oeuvre is less consistent than many of the aforementioned.

Most of the songs sounded the same, with Manson using a macabre voice to utter the first few lyrics, then snarling and shouting out the chorus as his band — Twiggy Ramirez (guitar), Fred Sablan (bass) and Jason Sutter (drums) — punched out ear-ringing, crunchy industrial metal. Among the tunes Manson played were Disposable Teens; The Love Song; No Reflection; The Dope Show and covers of Depeche Mode’s Personal Jesus and Eurythmics’ Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) — both with spoken-word interludes. Many of Manson’s original songs feature lyrics that are anti-religious, nihilistic and filled with references to sex, drugs and violence.

The low-point of the night (or, highlight, depending on your point of view) was Antichrist Superstar, with Manson leering over a large lectern like a demented dictator and flinging Bibles into the crowd, which reacted with fist pumps like they had drunk his personal brand of absinthe.

Manson returned to play two of the group’s best songs, The Beautiful People and Irresponsible Hate Anthem. During the latter’s memorable line, “I wasn’t born with enough middle fingers,” many people lifted theirs up to show they were number one.

So, that is the culprit! That bitch must have been just a few people down from me on the barricade, because I was right in the center, and when he threw it, I noticed that it landed not far from where I was. I remember Manson's crew coming over and looking through our bags and even looked through my trenchcoat, trying to find that mic. I heard someone telling the crew, "It fell down there!" They must have had it all along! One of the crew even yelled out, "If anyone has the mic, we need it back, we will exchange you a mic, but we need THAT one back."
That grinds my gears..

I wonder if anyone in the Manson camp has a way of contacting this girl in order to offer her something in exchange for the mic back, or if Manson/his crew has been notified that it has been found and who has it? To be honest, I would have given the mic back. I have no use for it, and though it'd be an amazing keepsake, it wasn't as though he was throwing it out to the crowd like Jason throws his drum stuff or guitar pics or anything. If I recall correctly, didn't John 5 have something similar happen to him with one of his guitars? Someone should probably contact her and offer her some cool perk or something.

The mic is being returned hopefully. If you read her current comments on the mic photo you will see she has been contacted by Manson's personal assistant.

I have one of Manson's water bottles. He hit me in the shoulder with it. It wasn't right :(

I have Twiggy's set list. The guy on stage threw it, and I caught it. It was covered it tape, and I have been slowly fixing it. It's almost perfect now. <3

If you read all the comments on her page, bitch claims to have been contacted and given some sort of VIP pass thing. I think I'm just a little annoyed with the kind of fanbase Manson has, just period. Perhaps only idiots go to the shows, or something, but the shit going on in the pit was revolting to me. Is there a venue somewhere in the world where nobody over 30 is allowed in and there is no alcohol permitted? Jeez.

I totally understand. Although I wasn't drinking, I can't say I have a higher moral ground above any of the drunks because I pissed on the back of a guys leg who spilled beer on me.

Olivia and myself both had some alcoholic bevarage hit us twice during the show. The first happened not long after the lights went down. There was a tall old guy wearing a leather jacket, with two very young teenage girls who couldn't have been much taller than 5 feet in the pit area. The worst part of that was that they were moving closer and closer to where the actual moshing people were, because the old guy was pushing them forward. I spent a good portion of the show pushing people away from Olivia, and trying to keep behind her. It got a little crazy a few times, towards the end. Also, Rock is Dead was pretty bad with moshing, too. Another thing: Who the fuck smokes weed in a no smoking venue? When you get caught, which they did (and tried to play it off like they were cool as shit, acting like the security people couldn't totally see the smoke come from where they were, and that it totally wasn't their stupid asses), you don't keep smoking. The venue lights were still completely on, and everyone around you was looking at you and pointing and the security knew it was them the whole time. They just looked like stupid children, whose parents told them not to do something, and then when the parents turned away, made a stupid face at their backs and did it. Fucking dumbshits. It was better than the Twins of Evil show, I guess, where there were these two burn-outs chain smoking on a joint. Pretty much from a little bit after mOBSCENE, until Sweet Dreams, these two assclowns were poisoning my air with their shitty weed. /grump

But, anyway, fuck that chick. I wish the story ended with her getting to go backstage, and then not getting to meet anyone in the band. Except maybe Jason, who then stole something from her purse. Fuck her.

You're right. I am taking over for Manson's job as Marilyn Manson and everyone is going to get pissed on by me if they spill alcohol on me. Also, no fans allowed backstage.

No one in the band would be allowed in.

Well, Manson's girlfriends could all be allowed it. So, that's something.

If you listen closely at the 46 or 47 second mark of the video "Hey Cruel World Opener" that I posted at the top of page 9, he says "Your Messiah is Here" :) - You're welcome.

Especially not when everyone around those people were just as pissed as we were.

It's not just the weed....it's the entire post. I'm not sure what you think should happen at a Marilyn Manson concert, but it sounds like pretty much the opposite of what actually happens at a Marilyn Manson concert. You're pretty much going to have to put up with a lot of different peoples shit when you go to any kind of concert. It just comes with the territory. As far as stupid children, I seen a group of kids whose average age was probably 16 smoking drugs I've never even seen or heard of....and I don't really give a shit.
