Poetry Wales

You read it, second hand. No public library
will ever stock it. Poetry? Kill me now, they say
out there, if you could only know it. In places
where a tie wonít go itís worth three pints of beer.
At least, that is what theyíre asking for it. O.T.T?

Iíll say. A poetry of coffee beans. Foot massage,
and patterned fabrics. Refineries, a dying culture:
gentility. All gone. Golfing into that Good night,
without a driver. Sorry, but I am not a Subscriber.

When it comes to things like quality, of life
for example; we believe in energy, atomic bombs
and danger. We believe in polyphonic tones, and
in urgent fingers; sticking it to the man, in charge
of bleeding-hearts and bell-ringers; yes the whole

damn farce. I donít have your money, your earth
currency is nothing to us. We know the meaning
of poverty in poetry. Discuss Fair trade perhaps?
Well hereís one: For a double-breasted face - Iíll sell.

My arse.
