Red Rocks is killer, and if there was more than just one day between it and SLC - I'd make it out there. Just not enough time to travel unless you hit the road right after the concert.

It's nice to drop in! My phone's been on its last legs for months so of course it died about a day or two into the roadtrip. Workin' on that, but otherwise so far so good! The shows have been awesome and we've already run into 21Faces, emilydarkside, wormboy01, and fukfrankie (all formerly of the Heirophant) and a bunch of other pals, too. Melissa (fukfrankie) is here with her kids and put us up for the night so I've been able to catch-up online a bit today, at least. Not to mention sleeping on a real bed and showering in a real shower! It's the little things you miss the most, lol.

And it was May Gunn who had the stroke of genius to go visit Columbine and its memorial since we arrived here a day early. Hopefully, we'll drop by again on the way to the show for more pix today!

Funny you should mention Bowling for Columbine, btw.

As it turns out, the school's only one block away from Bowles St., lol. And the school itself is actually on Pierce St., which naturally enough called to mind "Lunchbox" and schoolyard bullies and the breaking points we all have.

As a Manson fan, I have to confess that those two street names being so intimately tied to the school served as a FAR more effective reflection on the matter than the actual memorial did.

WOW... Amazing photo.. I was in Grade 12 when that all happened. Brings back a lot of good high school memories. A lot of good Manson memories.

I just hope he mentions crystal meth again tonight. I mean, he HAS to! He's mentioned it every night of the tour so far and it's right there in the name of the venue, lol.

I heard from a couple ppl who were there that the altitude made it a little difficult for people who weren't used to it. Considering Manson has Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome, I was curious if it had any effect on his energy level.

Much better than the first night; Manson's mic is on, he's not missing his cues. Nice to see Tommy Henriksen sporting the shock symbol t-shirt. :)
It seems they're getting friendlier on stage with each performance, not just Cooper and Manson, but the rest of the AC band as well.

Fucking awesome. Such a great, but weird fucking venue for a Manson show. How on earth do people stand still on their spot when Manson walks around in the audience? This wouldn't work here, people would run up to him and grab his butt.

Wow, that place is beautiful!!!! Looks like a great show. I can't wait. How has Cooper been? Not really into the music and was thinking of leaving after Manson, unless he's worth staying for.

Alice Cooper puts on a great show! I saw him once a festival, I'm not a huge fan but it was enough to make me see him on his own tour. And looking at what I've seen, the tour he's doing now is the same as we got in the UK, so it should be worth staying for. Also there's a chance MM might come on stage at the end.

Here's some Photos from last night: http://photos.mercurynews.com/2013/06/04/photos-alice-cooper-and-marilyn-mansion-at-red-rocks/#41

Review: http://blogs.westword.com/backbeat/2013/06/review_alice-cooper_marilyn-manson_red_rocks_june-3-2013.php?page=2 [this includes Alice Cooper's set list on page 3 for those interested]

At the beginning of Marilyn Manson's set, the band was set up behind a semi-translucent black curtain, against which red circles of light wandered around, and you could see the shadow of Manson. During this time, a bit of modern classical music played over the speakers, and when the curtain dropped, Manson went right into "Angel With the Scabbed Wings." Manson was in especially high spirits and performed a great deal of his set down front, directly to people in the front row of the show. Like Cooper, he switched up outfits frequently, for almost every song -- if not every song.

He also hauled out his share of props, such as the podium with his logo on the front during "The Irresponsible Hate Anthem" or the giant chair upon which Manson sprawled for "mOBSCENE." The Mechanical Animals songs sounded tonally rich and melodically atmospheric, while the Antichrist Superstar songs had an aggressive quality that seemed aimed at breaking through some kind of inner psychological barrier.

During "Sweet Dreams," Manson walked on stilts and had extensions for his arms that reached to the ground, like a kind of nod to the Too Dark Park-period of Skinny Puppy tours. "Great Big White World," meanwhile, much like the other Mechanical Animals songs, had a distinct, Bowie-esque sensibility in the structure of the tunes and in Manson's singing. All in all, it made you appreciate the album a lot more for what it was instead of focusing on what you've come to expect from the industrial hard-rock side of the band's music.

When "The Beautiful People" ended, while you wish an encore would have been in order, really, Manson and the band were so energizing and putting on such a powerfully compelling performance that you felt gratified. Overall, this was dream lineup that more than delivered the promise assumed.
