This is a proof of concept short that is still in the process of being developed. It comes from Lintika Films, which is currently developing a feature film that will be released on DVD. This short helped them procure the rights so that they could make the movie, which is 90% complete.

Despite his comic series is more on a Japanese solo hero stuff, he also appeared in a few TMNT cartoon episodes as their unlikely ally.. Very underrated for a comic hero aside from being a TMNT cameo character.

I was a big fan of Sergio Aragones' work in the old "MAD" magazines and that led me to "Groo the Wanderer" and that led me to "Usagi Yojimbo." After picking up a couple random issues here and there I finally found a collection of his first story-arc and was fucking HOOKED. Such brilliant, elegant work.

Around the same time as I was reading "Groo the Wanderer," I discovered "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" at some independent comic store and I was SUPER excited when the toys and cartoons and eventually even the movies captivated the rest of the world, too. It wasn't the turtles I knew and loved from the old B&W comics but it was still pretty fun and decent.

I could hardly fucking BELIEVE it when they brought Usagi Yojimbo into the TMNT universe! His cartoon appearances and toy all kinda sucked but -- as with the turtles -- I was just glad everyone else was joining the party.

This looks like the Usagi Yojimbo project I've always dreamed of, though. 100% faithful and done with class. If they could do this on their own with practically ZERO budget then I cannot fucking wait to see what they've come up with for the DVD release now that they've REALLY got their shit together.

I'm fucking DYING to see this movie.
