Heads up, mostly for those traveling to the show who do not live in NYC or surrounding areas. Mayor de Blasio announced a travel ban to start at 11 PM.. Most major roads and throughfares will be shut down in the city. Limited trains after 8 PM and the possibility of closing shuttle services from Philly and New Haven as well. In about 15 minutes, 1 PM EST, visibility conditions less than quarter of a mile, sustained winds of 35 mph or higher, 70 at the highest at some points. Also, this is going to affect the Long Island and Boston shows. As for the show tonight, starting here soon, 2 - 4 inches of snow per hour. The possibility of at least 27 inches by midnight. Stay safe and make sure you have a back up plan for getting back home or to your hotels tonight. You're going to be there for a while.

This was an hour ago and someone on their Twitter. So it has been cancelled? Can anyone else confirm this? They haven't announced it on their Twitter. Who did you speak to?

5 minutes ago a rep from Bowery Presents, who own the Terminal 5 venue, says the show is still currently scheduled as planned. Management is also trying to figure out what to do as the shows between NYC and Canada are in the line of this storm. So no...it has not been cancelled.

Same. I think there SHOULD be an official cancellation announcement but the promotion company that owns Terminal 5 has said as of right now it is still a go. Despite what people in the Twitterverse or a random worker at the venue have said. Watch people leave the line and the show still go on. If so that would not only be a miracle but funny as fuck.

Any reason why they waited until we'd lined up at 8am and stood there in a blizzard for 7 hours to say anything to us or make an official statement about a cancellation?

Cringeon
01-26-2015, 02:30 PM
They werent canceling. They waited to post until it was confirmed they could reschedule it. There's a lot to putting on a show let alone rescheduling or canceling. MM did not want to cancel any shows so they hammered out a game plan and posted once it was locked down.

FeedYourHead
01-26-2015, 02:31 PM

Cringeon
01-26-2015, 03:08 PM
It sounds like crew and staff were telling people as soon as they knew, and with as bad a storm warning that has been given safety is definitely the priority with something like this. I don't think they can be blamed for what people are willing to subject themselves to sitting in line for obscene amounts of time. The venue themselves were posting it was still on not long before the official announcement was made about postponed, I'm glad they were able to reschedule.

Yeah, that was my whole point. I was following the venue owners, Terminal 5, and a shitload of other people. A lot of fans said it was canceled, and let's be honest we all figured it would or should be, but a rep for the company that owns Terminal 5 up until half an hour before the confirmation said it was still on. I was just pointing that out.

I even said it would probably be canceled. That was all. I was asking the same question and just asking why they just didn't confirm it when they declared a state of emergency at....11 AM. And MMT I wasn't trying to have "authority". I was just pointing out that they were legitimately considering going through with it even when people were Tweeting and posting in here that it was canceled as Cringeon said. Sorry for trying to be helpful.

No, I LOVE the new album. The reason I returned the tickets is because he reverted to playing only 4 songs from it and otherwise doing the exact same set as always.

I only bought the tickets because the first night he did a really different setlist with 7 new songs and I got excited thinking the whole tour would be like that.

This was my first show. Fantastic. Exactly what i expected and more. Easily danced my way to about 4th row front and center. After 'deep 6' i basically used all my energy from singing and spasming my body. After that it was mostly trying to have enough air to breath and making sure when people fell we got em up. couldn't even smoke my joints until i moved to the back around the 7 or 8th song. I just found myself unconsciously pushing backwards towards air. Never been so happy to be smooshed between strangers or have a dude grind on my back.

Got back up front for Mephast of LA, which i was waiting for.

Manson's energy was great. Twiggy was lame. you have have heard me yell fuck you twiggy inbetween two songs. just looking for some emotion.

Music was tight. Or i was too outa it to tell.
NEver seen so many phones at a show. Coudlnt see him come out bc of the phones. I did take 2 videos though. ill post one later.

This. ^

I am seriously STILL freaking out about this show. He was in a fucking GREAT mood ALL night. If I'm remembering correctly, he told the audience to tell other people who say untrue things about Marilyn Manson to go fuck themselves. Then I really don't remember exactly what he said, but he went on "because he loves us" to tell us something to the effect of fuck everyone who wants you to be someone you're not. It actually struck me as almost a little reminiscent of the columbine days. We all totally had a moment with Manson. He outstretched his arm and made believe he was shaking our hands.

And oh my god, when one of the crowd surfers got up to the front he held her there before security took her away and let her SING INTO HIS MICROPHONE during the chorus of Sweet Dreams. Then he kept interacting with all of the crowd surfers before they got removed by security, which was really nice because it always sucks when you watch someone get up there with their hand outstretched for his and he's just like nope.

So the venue has an absurdly large space between the stage and the barricade, like double the normal distance. TWICE Manson came down from the stage and came over to interact with us on the rail. It was like low high -fives and people petting his leather jacket.

Twiggy was WAY into opening with Deep Six. So much energy, mouthing ALL the lyrics, kicking around and shit.

Manson skipped singing during two choruses (I don't remember which songs) but that was the only time it seemed like he needed to take a breather, between putting on a rock show and busting out back shoulder rolls.

He sang "how does it feel to be one of the beautiful people" from Baby You're A Rich Man (the beatles) before going into TBP. He sang parts from Bowie's Moonage Daydream too.

He was super interactive with the crowd between songs, and also with Twiggy. He fucked with Twiggy a lot, I don't remember exactly what he said or how he did it but at one point Manson went over to Twiggy and was jokingly being all aggressive (kind of like a stereotypical black lady?) and got all up in his face calling him bitch and stuff. Twiggy looked like he was trying not to laugh. I'd love to see a video of this because there's nothing of this on youtube yet.
He also went over to Twiggy and smeared like half of Twiggy's makeup down the right side of his face. They started telling some story about how Manson was in the hospital but didn't die but I couldn't totally make out what was being said but they were smiling and laughing about it.

I think there may have been some sound problems during mObscene? There was a chunk when I swear I could only hear the bass and drums and nothing else. May have just been because the venue's sound is SO. SHITTY. though.

And welp, the only downfall to Manson interacting with crowd surfers is that then everyone wanted to crowd surf. >_<
And security people were TOTAL DOUCHES. Manson threw his tambourine to Tater like 3 fucking times and she would almost catch it but then it would drop over the barricade, and she'd point to it and the security guards did nothing, and then another one came over and put it back on stage. Basically anything that was intended for the audience that came from the stage, but that landed for any brief second on the floor in front of the barricade, security decided the best thing to do was to put everything back on the fucking stage and give nothing and anybody. There's also a particularly annoying stage hand with dreads that always gives away Twiggy's setlist at the end of the show but does so by just throwing it into the audience instead of handing it to them or handing it to security to hand to someone, because all that does is create a human paper shredder.
It's okay though cause Tater and I ended up with the setlists that Manson kept crumbling and throwing. Actually, if we're being accurate, Tater caught a setlist, MMT and I caught two halves of one setlist, and MMT swiped Manson's sunglasses out of the air before it even started making a downward trajectory because he was THAT much taller than everyone surrounding.

The crowd was like, either really really awesome or really really horrible depending on the song. People started pushing forward so forcefully while we were still fucking standing in line outside the venue to get in, it's like, if you're THIS bad now, I can't imagine what the show is gonna be like, and yup. Basically everyone who wasn't with us was just about the rudest, most horribly awful person. There was this one chick who bitched out our friend like half an hour before doors. Our friend had been there since 9am but "took too long to go to the bathroom so now she has to go to the back of the line. She said 30 minutes, it's been more than 30 minutes." What the fuck? That's not how it works.
Anyway. There were definitely some special stars in that crowd, but the one that stood out most to me was the fucking cunt that was standing next to Lillith and in the middle of the show put a fucking duffel bag, like that you take on vacation, in front of Lillith... but Lillith was on the rail next to me so like, Lillith didn't have any choice but to stand on the entire duffel bag for the rest of the show but really, who fucking does that in a pit. Also noteworthy was the high schooler who was the first person in line at like 7:30am and was saving spots for 3 of his friends, waited with us ALL day, then we got in and they were scanning our tickets and we were running up to the barricade and he had his ticket scanned and just stood there in the hallway waiting for his friends to get in. And all day he would not shut up about how "front and center on the rail is mine." Maybe if he'd walked faster than MMT who got in before me and saved our spots, he could have had front and center on the rail instead of donating it to me, MMT, and Tater.
If it were not for my lack of height though, I'd have been seriously fucked in the pit though because the pushing that occurred even got the barricade to start wobbling forward at one point, and if my boobs weren't precisely at the height of the bar on the top of the barricade and therefore a buffer, I'd most definitely have several injured ribs. Luckily MMT was there and was miraculously heroic with his ability to push the people behind us back a little bit. And idk if it was just me noticing this or what, but there were a LOTTTT of tiny bitches surrounding us in the pit and they were ALL horrible, like pulling hair, trying to get their hands on the rail and then dig their nails into my skin, etc. But I would MUCHHH prefer this kind of crowd than what I heard about the boston show crowd. There's always something so magically satisfying when Manson starts a song like mObscene or Rock is Dead and as soon as the first note is played you get totally squished up on the rail and it's just so metal, man. Exhilarating.

Also Manson professed his love for New York City multiple times. And during The Dope Show he put in EXTRA effort to emphasize that the drugs ARE made in new york city.

Tyler Bates looked cool. Paul Wiley has 0 stage presence and unless that's the intention, I kind of feel bad for him. Gil looked like he was having a great time.

Does anyone know why there was a dude manually controlling the spotlight down in front of the stage for Manson? I don't think I've ever seen that done anywhere for any band before.
The lighting effects are REALLY cool and well coordinated. I don't think I noticed that in Philly. This made me feel better about the lack of numerous props and theatrics.

I still hope he brings the ACSS podium back.

This was the second time this tour that I watched Manson play Coma White at the end of the show, left the venue, and walked out into a real snow storm.

EDIT: Forgot to mention how great Manson's voice sounded, especially when it counted most, like "I feel stoned and alone like a hereeeetiiiiiiiic." His voice sounded really strong all night.

EDITEDIT: I'll probably post some photos soon and I am dying to see Tater's videos already.

This performance of Deep Six is awesome, Twiggy is killing it with his bass! The same goes for Third Day of a Seven Day Binge ♥ And Tyler is such a great guitar player, really love his performance of Sweet Dreams.

Twiggy was lame. you have have heard me yell fuck you twiggy inbetween two songs. just looking for some emotion.

Can I ask a) when was Twiggy not showing emotion, and b) what exactly were you hoping for? I seem to recall him showing more emotion and having more energy than anyone else on stage other than Manson.

I happened to meet up with Daisy last night and he had equal praise for Tyler Bates' rendition of Sweet Dreams., which says something I think. He also said the rest of the show was equally impressive and didn't have any negative remarks at all. Cool guy.

Also Tyler Bates is really great. It's obvious he won't be in the band for long, so I'm glad I got to see two shows with him.

I remember feeling clumps of hair entangled in my fingers. I saw some guy punch someone on the back of the head with his knuckle real hard. couldn't tell if they knew each other or the puncher was just mad at how he was getting pushed around. The punchiee just looked back a little scared and annoyed.

My ears are still ringing hard. enjoying hearing everyones experiences.

lmao wait a minute. Go back to that Daisy story.
We left the venue and walked out into an unexpected snow fall, and I was trying to get MMT to run to the parking garage with me because before doors I put all my non-concert attire in the car and it was like 5 degrees out. So we're ABOUT to turn the corner from the street that the venue is on and then speed walk to the car, when all of a sudden MMT looks over at some man walking next to us and is like "do I know you?"
And it's fucking Scott Putesky lol. Wearing a brown leather jacket and sporting a Manson VIP pass. The second MMT started talking to him, he lit up with this like disgustingly huge jack-o-lantern smile and over-excitedly engaged in conversation with MMT until we got to the block with our car on it. He was with some like 3 other people and were gonna head to a bar somewhere.

I'm confused by all the "Twiggy isn't happy, will he be leaving??" stuff. He's acting like he always does... maybe people don't realize that's how he's supposed to be?

And really, if he were "off" for a few shows, there could be any number of reasons completely unrelated to his happiness as a band member. These guys are real people, they have outside lives and stressors that could conceivably make them somewhat less than happy-go-lucky.

Far as I'm concerned, he's kicking ass on bass and acting like the Twiggy we know and love. Show me a video of him standing there chewing gum looking bored and I'll reconsider my assessment.

Despite my (often well deserved) criticisms of Manson, it's a surreal fucking sensation having your teenage idol towering over you, feet away. It's surreal grabbing onto his arm while he sings right into the crowd of 1,000 people and being entirely wrapped up in the massive hype and energy. It's surreal, the feeling of the cold sweat-soaked leather.

I was one of the first few people in line, already having caught a nice warm vodka buzz before 10am. Waiting in line in Philly was utter torture that lasted seemingly 100 years, but yesterday was a breeze. Wandering around quite drunk, fist-bumping every person in line and acting like a total ass. Making fun of Tater's awesome Irish accent. Hanging out by the buses and chatting with Hugh and MM's assistant and venue staff and MM crew for apparently what was 4 hours but felt like 20 minutes. Good dirty fun that blurred past so quickly my memory is already fuzzy the next day.

Like FeedYourHead mentioned, I wasn't quite the first one in, but the venue staff were being incompetent so I just breezed past them, bypassing any pat down or ticket scanning because spoiler: I'm apparently a drunken ninja. I walked in and was completely bewildered because even though there were already people inside, front and center on the rail was completely open. So I grabbed a spot for FeedYourHead and Tater (and get her mom) without a single shred of hassle. I took my spot behind Feed because she's shorter than this review, so it's like she's not even there and I'm on the rail.

Another beat of a heart later and the opener Unlocking The Truth was jamming away. Apparently the crowd was into it because a mosh pit started right behind me immediately into the first song. Those kids aren't terrible, but they definitely either need a new metal vocalist or they need to just become instrumental. The vocals are actively a huge detriment.

When the lights go down for Manson, that's it. Boom. You're there. Everything else is gone. It's you and the crushing crowd and the heat and the sweat and the energy and also Twiggy. Side note, Twiggy seemed super happy during the songs and had plenty of smiles and laughs playing around with Manson. There's obviously a deep connection there and they obviously adore playing music with each other. Anybody who thinks Twiggy was bored or not into the show must have been watching a different show.

At any concert, there are obviously aspects that take you out of the zone for a moment. Coming down of a vodka drunk with a massive headache in the pit and getting a boot to the temple from some goth crowd-surfer skank is one of those things. I got a handful of her hair, so I'll call it even. I do wish Manson wouldn't encourage that, but whatever. Maybe he'll rethink that position after the crowd-surfer chick he offered the microphone to couldn't manage to sing a single word of Sweet Dreams. Yeah dude, making incomprehensible grunts and noises when Marilyn Manson is holding his mic to your face is really the way to go. Sigh.

His interaction with the crowd was really awesome though. He came onto the floor in front of the pit multiple times urging us to touch him, one time even stopping and shoving his whole arm into the crowd while everybody (present company included) groped and petted like he was a Pope whose power would be transferred to us sinners through touch alone. Rad.

Maybe I wasn't paying enough attention, but it seemed like there were less outfit changes than the Philly show. The stage itself was relatively low-key, with very few props or frills outside of the six (?) different microphones he used. The flower mic stand and bloody torn shirt getup was super fucking cool, and the bubbles/soap 'snow' during Coma White was fantastic. It looks and behaves like actual ash/snow, so it really works. TBP>IHA>Coma White is a strange way to end a show to me, that's one criticism I have. A prop I did enjoy was the sunglasses Manson was supposed to wear during The Dope Show but instead put on for two seconds during Third Day of a Seven Day Binge before tossing them into the crowd where I miraculously overcame my compete lack of hand-eye coordination and grabbed them without a problem mid-air. It's also helpful that I was a foot taller than everybody else in the crowd.

I have to admit I'm a bit of a loser/poser because I left the pit four songs early, after This is The New Shit with the Jay-Z outro on account of getting close to passing out because again I retardedly wore three pairs of pants, three thermal shirts, and a hoodie in anticipation of it being cold as fuck in line all day. Also having a rapid and brutal comedown off the vodka factors into things. But I'm probably just a lightweight pussy. We'll never know.

After drinking a hundred cups of water and puking up a fifth of vodka, I watched the last three songs from the balcony before trudging back into the pit to retrieve my date. Also met up with Hazekiah and had some introductions to one of his many jolly groups of comrades.

As Feed explained earlier, on our way to the car I ran into a guy I thought was Daisy, so I awkwardly introduced myself and he recognized me from our times chatting on Facebook. We talked for a few minutes on our way to our car and he regaled us with a few stories of tours of the 90's past. I told him I'm here from Nevada and he told us about playing in shit Nevada towns and a redneck family offering their underaged daughters to the band. Also stories about the buses being stranded in the desert and Kenny (Ginger Fish) being a weirdo. Real personable guy and fun to chat with on the way to the car.

To wrap up, I've realized this review is more about me then the show, but I like to think hearing about a show from the perspective of somebody who was down in the dirtiness and debauchery will get people more excited than a standard color-by-numbers setlist review. Shrug. If you want that, I'm sure every media review with satiate you.

Kerrang! gave MM's show in NY a rating of KKKKK which is their best rating. I don't think I've ever seen them give MM the top rating before.

Google actually have the double page spread of MM's review available to read in the preview: https://play.google.com/store/newsstand/details/Kerrang?id=CAowvcWPBw

So, I FINALLY have managed to get around to posting my live clips from this gig. They're shot front+center and it's the entirety of the show with the exception of The Beautiful People and Irresponsible Hate Anthem. Honestly, as someone who records a high number of gigs, they're pretty fucking great. Especially for such a violent show. This one is my favourite for reasons. Enjoy~
