Not at the beginning of the song; that's obviously from John Carpenter's Prince Of Darkness. But there's something buried way back in the right channel from 4:31-4:43 of the track - Nem can confirm I'm not hallucinating. I've never noticed it before rearranging my speakers tonight. I think it's Manson, and the strange thing it that it almost sounds like he says something about a dictionary, but it's way too heavily distorted for me to make out on these Wal-Mart speakers.

It's not up on Mansonwiki's "Down In The Park" article or anywhere else. Any ideas?

All i have left of her are a few (glowing) pictures that I keep in my dictonary under the word "girl"

That solves it, then. Nothing left for me to add except that I already felt like this track was Mechanical Animals in miniature, and this sample at the end is its Omega. Beautiful stuff.

Maybe Mwiki posted what someone's best guess was - but after isolating it I definitely hear something much closer to what I posted above. I can definitely hear the words HER, GIRL and while not 100% sure on the word glowing - I think what I got makes much more sense as a complete thought/lyric.

this is a wiki, and we're very happy when people contribute and make corrections (:

I wonder if it could perhaps be YELLOWING pictures? Photos don't glow, but they can yellow with age.

Maybe, sounds like 2 syllables to me with a consonant at the start. I'll see if I can clean it up more later tonight.

The more I listen, the more I hear three syllables in that Soundcloud clip, consistent, to my mind, with 'yel-low-ing'. Your mileage may vary, though.

I hear two. "Glowing" might be it, but it doesn't fit. Maybe he had a glowing (Vibrant) photo of her.

If I'm gonna be honest I don't hear either. The audio at that point is pretty chaotic, so I feel like further isolation will be needed to hear what he is saying.

I think it pretty detectable to hear most of what he is saying. And what Cringeon did with the audio, it sounds clear enough.

I hear it crystal clear and it's spot on to what Cringeon transcribed.

Can't help you here, but you gave me an idea for a similar thread.

Interesting!

I'd always heard it as "burned pictures" (and initially found it transcribed as such on the quasi-official AOL Keyword: Marilyn Manson chatroom back in '95, fwiw)...but it definitely sounds more like "glowing pictures" in Cringeon's cleaned-up excerpt.

But, that said, "yellowing pictures" makes a million times more sense.

Hmm.
