They spent a modest fortune on that shit and it's even made it through Customs into Canada after being paid for by festival dates abroad. It will DEFINITELY stay, in addition to previous staging waiting for them in the U.S., and whatever else is coming in preparation for whatever awesomeness they're SURELY going to bust out on us this Summer after raking in all that dough overseas and (hopefully) adding more domestic dates.

That's how this shit works and why I'm NEVER sorry I shelled out $$$ for Manson.

All that income ALWAYS gets pumped RIGHT back into the next leg!

Fuck, yeah.

Oh for fuck's sake Manson, having a stage set built, with actual sections of a church, Celebritarian altar, crisp clean backdrop, and custom stage clothes, there's never anything new anymore.

I jest, this looks ace, and I sincerely hope he doesn't change it any time soon, so us Englanders get the same experience.

I saw a LQ video on instagram and I think the cross was all lit up, but it did look like something was hanging off it. Not sure if that's a fault, or something, but it's not a totally bad thing if it is.

Stage set up/props are indeed awesome as fuck, but I feel like it's only a matter of time before Manson goes and gets a giant tattoo of a close up of his own face. Why does he have to put his own image on literally everything these days? Especially when he's standing right in front of it.

This stage set looks great! I can't wait for when he comes around again.
As for the cross, perhaps the first horizontal part is cut out solely for the purpose of making an upside down regular cross? That's what it kind of looks like to me.

What a badass set! Shit. Love the neon CC cross, blinking to make a upside down cross. Always thought that would be cool.

Yeah, what a twat. It's like when Elvis Presley had the name E L V I S emblazoned behind him in thirty-foot lights for his comeback shows, or when KISS used forty-foot-high KISS lights shining out onstage, or when Marc Bolan had twenty-foot cardboard-cut-outs of himself positioned around the stage for T. Rex concerts in the '70s to film and promote Born To Boogie.

How dare the man who coined the term Celebritarian capitalise and recognise his own fame... It's almost as though the knowingly narcissistic medium of rock n' roll were being exploited to represent the enduring visage of the pop icon.

What a selfish Manson.

Unexpected but most pleasant and welcome surprise!! LOVE the new stage setup, brings the live show to a whole new level! The upside down cross is a neat touch too, it all actually (i mean it as a good thing) reminds a bit of Dead To the world tour as it also had sort of a church like setup.

Wow okay, or we can hugely overreact with snark and sarcasm to a member on a message board being annoyed by a creative choice made by her favorite artist, whom she would have never in a million years thought to compare to Elvis or KISS until right this second.

whom she would have never in a million years thought to compare to Elvis or KISS until right this second.I think that's the problem. Let's not forget who and what we are talking about, fucking rockstar.

Love the stage, love cross being controllable. Inverted looks great. The stained glass, the banners, the pulpit (NOT podium). I'm sure a lot is venue dependent, so I hope they have more chances to keep bringing it out and trying out different options.

I would imagine that a lot of this stuff could easily be used in the festivals, especially if he's got some bigger slots.

I love this stage set-up! The double cross that also turns to an inverted cross is genius! I can't wait to see this live. I'll feel like I'm in Manson's own cathedral or something haha. That stained glass is giving me flashbacks to Catholic school. Love it! I knew Mansob would have something good up his sleeve.

It's not a huge overreaction, I didn't put any effort into it or anything. Seems to me like a somewhat misplaced thing to be annoyed about, given that it's neither exclusive to Manson, or anything remotely new for either him or other prominent musical figures.
Manson has also enthused repeatedly that there is little distinction to be made between he and his artworks, and that the stage is his natural habitat, so I would imagine that the live stage acts as an extension of himself, and his art. Consider the enormous Manson Mouse heads used during The Golden Age Of Grotesque, blood-red MM backdrops used for The Rape Of The World, the bedroom wall seen on The High End Of Low tour, and the forty-foot Celebritarian cross or Nineteen-Eighty-Four background during Hey, Cruel World Tour. They're all 'Marilyn Manson'.

Thematically, this new stained glass prop (in addition to referencing Dead To The World) has echoes of Personal Jesus, The Reflecting God, No Reflection, and Lewis Carroll (Alice Through The Looking Glass). Perhaps The Last Day On Earth as well; "High and dead, our skin is glass". I think it looks great.

Let's stop with the silliness okay? People need reminders. This is why people wear name tags at work and have to present identification. This is why stores have signs and cars come with manuals along with the make and model of their car on their car. Bands that do this are just making it clear to the audience who they are watching perform. It's not a big deal. "Yo dawg, I heard you like Marilyn Manson, so I showed you a Marilyn Manson so you could see Marilyn Manson while you watch Marilyn Manson". Good lord.

That stained glass is giving me flashbacks to Catholic school.

I seriously hope there are enough bible belt venues able to support this stage set up, it's just too fucking appropriate. The more religious imagery he incorporates into the show, the more satisfying it is laughing at all the protestors outside the venue.

S.D. - "overreaction" was definitely the wrong word. I was just a little taken aback (re: butthurt) because I felt like the way you replied was unnecessarily harsh and a bit insulting.

I think that the issue I have with Manson using giant images of his own face so frequently is that it strikes me as uninspired. My issue isn't with his rockstar ego, it's that unlike Elvis and KISS, Manson's imagery/media/promotional material used to seem a bit more conceptual and artistic, usually trying to make a point. For instance, think about the difference between the album covers for Mechanical Animals and The High End of Low. They're both prominent images of Manson, but one is highly creative and making a point, whereas the other one is just ...a picture of himself. And regarding Celebritarianism, I just have trouble personally wrapping my head around it because I don't feel like embracing hypocrisy and highlighting it just all of a sudden makes said hypocrisy okay. I know the evolution or devolution of Marilyn Manson into that was inevitable and appropriate, but that doesn't mean I'm not still sad about it. In this instance, with the stage set up, you guys are all right in that the use of his image is actually way more meaningful and purposeful than the way in which his images were used during THEOL & BV, which I think I missed because I'm so used to just immediately being annoyed by it at this point. I'm used to looking at t shirts that are just a giant image of Manson's face and being annoyed because of what his t shirts used to entail. But this isn't one of those instances, and also, his attire in that image on the stage is fucking perfect. Stilllllll hope he brings back the actual podium though.

Can you do me a favour, I don't mind if it's a direct copy of what you've written above, but this could be a really interesting conversation outside of the tour section. Pen it as an original topic in Manson Discussion and I think it could open out a lot more, lest it gets lost in all these similar tour-specific conversations. And yes, I will of course reply, and try not to make it sound like I'm an asshole.
