Damn, I'm pissed. I remember looking up tour dates a while back and not seeing Portland on there, but checked again today and there it was, sold out. Fuck. I've never seen Manson live, and it looks like I'll have to wait until the next album/tour to finally see him.

Tonight's the first opening night of a new Manson tour I've missed in over a DECADE.

I guess that's KIND OF awesome?

Ugh. Honestly, it fucking SUCKS to think that if I monetized my YouTube footage for ONLY stuff from The Pale Emperor and for only ONE CENT per view then I'd already have over $1,000 and be at the show right now filming for everyone.

THIS IS FUCKING RETARDED.

I read some stuff from people who attend the show. Same lame setlist, same stage setup, same outfits. Really disappointed.
He needs more. He is Marilyn Manson.

It's the same tour? What the fuck do you expect? Sudden fireworks just because it's a different leg?

Tyler is being sorely underused if this setlist is the same.

This may come as a shock to people, but they've probably spent the past 3 weeks having a life that doesn't involve living on a bus, rather than learning a bunch of new songs to play. They are a band, not a jukebox.

Empirical Guy has a point. I think that the new guitarists like to stick to songs that they already know.

However, I would think they would have mixed it up a little more by now. At least a song or two swapped in here and there might be nice.

Sound checks can be wisely used to learn new songs! As we have seen on the past few tours the setlists have changed during the tour, so you may hear some changes coming soon, who knows! I'm sure as empirical said, they were enjoying their break.

They already know songs, beside what they are plying now this band played togheter Slaves, Mister Superstar, Little Horn, Get Your Gunn, Great Big White World, Reflecting God, Angel With Scabbed Wings, Hey Cruel World, Tourniquet, Antichrist Superstar.

Did I miss something, or is this just straight up wrong? I know this band has played Mister Superstar and Slaves together, and I know they've sound checked Tourniquet, but when did they ever play or sound check the others? Are you thinking of last tour with Fred and Jason Sutter? Or have I not been paying attention?

The other songs they did in Europe last year on that mini run of dates.

Huh. I hate to say it then, but that does kind of make this setlist a little dull in comparison.

Edit: Just to clarify, I'm one of those people who would still be 100% satisfied if the setlist consisted of them playing The Beautiful People 10 times in a row, with an encore of The Beautiful People, but now I can at least see the point others are trying to make.

Second Surprise For People: The vast majority of fans buying tickets for this tour are seeing the set for the first time, and haven't been poring over every last minute detail of previous setlists. Fan groups online are of course, grand, but very often amazingly short-sighted. Marilyn Manson is playing the tour thousands of people worldwide want to see, not setlists for a couple of hundred faces on the Internet.

I didn't notice until I got back home today that Mephistopheles wasn't on the setlist.
Regardless, the crowd was REALLY into the show, he was in top form, and it was an overall blast. I handed him a heart, that he stabbed with the knife microphone <3
Pics at some point.

I'm fairly sure they sound checked Angel in Philly....

So that first setlist at the start of the tour was for shits-n-giggles?

I vaguely recall reading an interview with Tyler where mention was made of something along the lines of determining what songs they were comfortable performing live. Is it possible that they tried Slave and Warship and just felt they wouldn't be able to do them justice? Granted, Slave sounded AMAZING, but if you're a performer dedicated to giving the best show possible, I can see not wanting to do something YOU would feel is sub-par (even if the fans wouldn't see it that way).

They soundchecked Devil Beneath My feet in Seattle, but didn't play it that night.

I agree that perhaps Manson wants to be sure its perfect before performing it in front of an audience. At the Portland show, there was a hold up right at the start of Coma White, on account of the drums. To be fair to Gil, whoever in the audience that caught the tambourine and was slamming it in "rhythm" against the barricade, didn't help.
