I had to write a specific kind of poem for an assignment called a Terza Rima, where the end-rhyming pattern is:

ABA
BCB
CDC
DED
EE

Which simply means that the middle line's end-rhyme also rhymes with the first and last of the next stanza. While I was brainstorming what to write, I was also scrolling through Manson's songs on my ipod. There are a few words used in here from song titles!

Anyway, here it is.

Rebirth

A man in a world at the edge of an obsequy
Where its people could no longer see their reflection
In the lake once surrounded by botany

There is nothing in sight depicting perfection.
Everyone around him is unattached.
He sought to create his own world of protection.

Using the dying grasp of nature, the man snatched
Together pieces of broken thoughts, ideas, then painted
Them on his last canvas and a new perception hatched.

Unfolding before his eyes, no longer tainted
Molding from a demise he once called home.
A new fascination with which he became acquainted.

The man looked past the former mutilation
And held in his palm a single carnation.

I thought of it like the end of the world or something beyond hope, whether that's a dream, a person, an idea or state of mind. Taking their loose scraps of memories or tactile pieces and patching them together. Figuring out what's real, having a personal "rebirth". The botany is what the "world" used to be and no longer exists except in small amounts that long to be noticed. The single carnation is a flower, the result of the rein(carnation) of the "world"

" @ armatora , that's brilliant. Sad & beautiful. I strongly suspect this is very close to the truth of our reality. Please feel free to mail me any more writings You have : ) Cheers. (23)
