I also think it's fair we should post her new single in here.

Eh wasn't looking forward to an opening act but it better not interfere with Manson's set or I'll throw hands.

That track's good but it made me sleepy. I'm not sure that's what you want before a heavy rock show.

Never liked her stuff. Crystal Castles had like two good songs. Granted, before even trying them out, my thoughts on them were pre-tainted by the fact that every person I ever met who was super-into them was insufferable to me. The wannabe gutter-punks who think living in dumpsters is chic and can't wait to get a junk habit so they can Instagram it yet still have their parents' credit cards on hand. You know the type.

I don't care for this tune either. The 'daddy's little girl gone bad' look and vibe is a horse that's been beaten to death now, as is that 'bored and overdosing on valium' vocal style. I'm sure it's currently popular with the kind of 16 year olds running ddlg Tumblr blogs.

Maybe it's just not my shit, but I won't rag on anyone who enjoys it. It's better than what's usually on the radio at least. Nevertheless, if we're to go based on this tune, yeah, it's not a good fit for a Manson tour.

PS: I'd still absolutely split her in half any time anywhere.

This is just another reason to be irritated by the fact that Manson's date in Houston is a festival appearance.

Golden Eel, Is there any reason for personal attacks and assumptions my brother?

Indeed I'm not ragging on people who listen to them. I believe I was quite clear in what I said. To expand, I lived in Toronto at the time, where Crystal Castles hail from and when they were just starting to be known, I noticed that a particular culture of people who often got on my nerves were almost uniformly obsessed with them and seemed to be 'their crowd' at the time, so I gave their entire discography up to that point a listen. It wasn't my thing, that's just my own story, and neither is Alice Glass as a solo artist. I'm not suggesting everyone who listens to either acts is, or generalizing them as, a particular kind of dipshit (that'd be moronic objectively), nor do I care what anyone listens to. To each is own.

Tsk tsk with the conflict mate, slow your roll. As you were.

Back on topic. I agree it'll be a tad bit of a weird contrast when it comes to the show as a whole. Although from what I've heard, Alice Glass does have a very chaotic and 'dirty' kind of stage presence not unlike Manson's early years, so that could be entertaining. Definitely a slight better than a lot of the more comically bad opening acts I've seen. Also, I understand she's got a pretty decent-sized fan base of her own compared to some nobody opener. For anyone going to the shows in smaller cities or less Manson-friendly areas or wherever the venue isn't as likely to be 'packed to the brim,' she should get it there, so that's a plus.

You really don't want an opening act that's gonna blow you off the stage. You want an opening act that might blow you off-stage.

*rimshot*

Seriously, though, I was looking at other bands playing some of the festival dates and hoping Manson would grab one of the better ones for a tour, like Mastodon or Ghost or something, but the way the live shows sound now, he can't follow either of them. Best to get someone interesting, but low-energy. So, this is a good choice.

Actually chuckled.

Oh god Gruesome, I've dreamt of a co-headlining Manson-Ghost tour. Aesthetic and sound wise, you couldn't come up with a better match. I'd literally follow that tour every show I possibly could. It's not even particularly out of the box. Ghost is definitely a better sounding live band in 2017, but Manson is a higher profile, and it'd be win-win for both acts.

Oi. Tony, y'short fuck. Make it happen.

That song I posted may fool you, so maybe you should check out her other songs and some Crystal Castles - she's definitely not low energy.

Personally I think it's a good fit I like the contrast. I'm tired of these headline tours being so safe and boring. I nearly rolled my eyes with the Slipknot one when that was announced. Plus her music is kick-fucking-ass so i'm actually excited for this tour I might try and attend the Chicago one.

The one eye white contact, the pope costume, their imagery, logos, etc. Pretty obvious I thought.

Interesting. I see some similarities. But just because there are slight similarities doesn't lead me to believe that they are ripping off Manson. Manson didn't start everything after all. I think they pull the pope outfit better than Manson did. It's a lot more detailed and interesting. In a different style as well. The imagery, they use the Satan imagery without being overly cheesy and in your face, which I like. The lyrics? Ghosts lyrics, to me, seem completely different than Manson's. But maybe they've made more music since I've last listened to them. I just have their first two records. I'll agree to disagree.

Ghost is a lot of fun....

Seeing He Is live literally sent me into fits of laughter... I felt like I was in a gospel church of Satan; it was fundamentally hilarious.

I thoroughly believe too many fans/haters take the music too seriously.

Anywho, Alice Glass: still intrigued.

AFAIK, "Stillbirth" and "Without Love" are the only two solo songs she's released thus far. But I feel safe saying that I still love her and her voice based on Crystal Castles being fucking amazing and the fact that both of her releases solo songs are very, very good.

Fred Sablan's actually touring with Chelsea Wolfe so we're ONE. STEP. CLOSER, fwiw!

But, yeah. Crystal Castles was phenomenal and Alice Glass solo is OUT-FUCKING-STANDING.

I am OVER THE FUCKING MOON with excitement about seeing seeing her with Manson AS MANY TIMES AS POSSIBLE. He sure can pick 'em! After The Pretty Reckless and Knee High Fox it's pretty obvious that Manson reallllly likes having hot chicks in kick ass bands as his openers, lol.

And OMFG THE POTENTIAL FOR DUETS.

In addition to making really, really cool music - Alice Glass is 100% my 3DPD waifu. She's so goddamn gorgeous and I'm incredibly stoked that she's decided to take up professional modelling lately. I'm pretty much in love with her and her aesthetic, and I have been for years.

Just in case anybody is curious...

^^^ ALL. OF. THAT.

I'd still absolutely split her in half any time anywhere.

First sensible thing you've said all day.

Anyway.

I've be trying DESPERATELY to figure out the lyrics to "Without Love."

In lieu of any official transcription, I've taken a stab at it myself. Mmm. I'm still not sure about a few bits (the "weak/wake chance" part and the whole "what's my strangest way/quasi-strangers waiting" bits are fucking KILLLING MEEEEE but I feel like I'm getting close.

SO. FUCKING. CLOSE.

Mmm.

WITHOUT LOVE

AM I WORTH IT?
OR AM I WORTHLESS?
AND WILL I EVER
FIGURE IT OUT?

SEWED MYSELF TO HIM
BE OUR OWN VICTIM
AND WITH HIS BONDAGE
TIE MYSELF DOWN

HOW ARE YOU GONNA LIE
ABOUT ME NOW?
I SEE YOU WATCHING ME
FROM UNDERGROUND
QUASI-STRANGEST WAY
TO BE FOUND

HOW ARE YOU GONNA LIE?
HOW ARE YOU GONNA LIE?

GOT TO BE WITHOUT LOVE
GOT TO BE WITHOUT LOVE
GOT TO BE WITHOUT LOVE
GOT TO BE WITHOUT LOVE

GOT TO BE WITHOUT LOVE
GOT TO BE WITHOUT LOVE
GOT TO BE WITHOUT LOVE
GOT TO BE WITHOUT LOVE

IS IT HIDDEN?
BENEATH THE SURFACE?
SEWED MY LIPS
SO IT WON'T COME OUT

SEWED MYSELF FURTHER
I TELL IT TO YOU
CAN I SUFFER?
I WON'T MAKE A SOUND

HOW ARE YOU GONNA LIE
ABOUT ME NOW?
I SEE YOU WATCHING ME
FROM UNDERGROUND
QUASI-STRANGEST WAY
TO BE FOUND

HOW ARE YOU GONNA LIE?
HOW ARE YOU GONNA LIE?

GOT TO BE WITHOUT LOVE
GOT TO BE WITHOUT LOVE
GOT TO BE WITHOUT LOVE
GOT TO BE WITHOUT LOVE

GOT TO BE WITHOUT LOVE
GOT TO BE WITHOUT LOVE
GOT TO BE WITHOUT LOVE
GOT TO BE WITHOUT LOVE

I DON'T WANNA WAKE CHANCE
I DON'T WANNA BREAK APART IN TWO
I DON'T WANNA WAKE CHANCE
I'M NOT JUST BLOOD AND TISSUE

I DON'T WANNA PLAY PRETEND
I DON'T WANNA SEE TOMORROW
TELL ME WHAT TO SPIT
DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO SWALLOW

HOW ARE YOU GONNA LIE
ABOUT ME NOW?
I SEE YOU WATCHING ME
FROM UNDERGROUND
QUASI-STRANGEST WAY
TO BE FOUND

HOW ARE YOU GONNA LIE?
HOW ARE YOU GONNA LIE?

GOT TO BE WITHOUT LOVE
GOT TO BE WITHOUT LOVE
GOT TO BE WITHOUT LOVE
GOT TO BE WITHOUT LOVE

GOT TO BE WITHOUT LOVE
GOT TO BE WITHOUT LOVE
GOT TO BE WITHOUT LOVE
GOT TO BE WITHOUT LOVE

Well, as Manson fans we're all well aware of the perils of unquestionably trusting "official" lyrics.

But, yeah, I've seen those and there's still a lot worth doubting there, not the least of which being exactly how official they might be, tbh.

Which isn't to suggest that MY constantly-shifting transcription is without fail, lol...but still.

I've been listening to the new EP quite a bit, since its unexpected release on Friday. I definitely approve.

Also, I followed through on my plans and bought tickets for her solo show in Houston. I'm looking forward to hearing how these songs come across, when performed right in front of me.

I hereby task you to report back on the experience in minute detail. For those who can't be there.

Having now had more than a few nights to listen to the EP, I can only concur. It's a lot like the audio-visual version of staring at strobe-lit revenge act. Except, more enjoyable than I made that sound.
