Most neglected Manson single?

Marilyn Manson has released eight albums in the last eighteen years; with such a large back catalogue of tracks, it's inevitable that a few songs are going to fall by the wayside during live performances and the band's history more generally. Every band has a few songs that were forgotten about almost upon their release. But when it happens to a song that was released as a single, it becomes an object of fan curiosity - and complains about its disappearance from live set-lists.

Some of these casualties are natural. "Get Your Gunn" was bound to end up relegated to the dustbin of Mansonalia; very few bands continue to play the lead single from their debut album unless they struck gold immediately with it. On the other hand, tracks like "Putting Holes In Happiness" and "We're From America" were largely commercial failures, and their absence from Manson's set-lists, while upsetting to some fans, is inevitable for entirely other reasons.

A few others, however, seem to have been inexplicably forgotten, as much by the fans of Marilyn Manson as the band itself. The song I was thinking of when I started this thread was "I Don't Like The Drugs (But The Drugs Like Me)", which was last performed a whopping thirteen years ago, for reasons I don't quite fathom. Granted that it was the least successful of the three commercial singles from Mechanical Animals, it still sold more as an individual single than Manson's last album sold altogether - it would certainly not go unrecognized in a live setting. If the band can still occasionally tease "Lunchbox" or dig up the "Hell Outro" for "Sweet Dreams", why the Hell would they not play a single from their second highest-grossing record? I imagine it'd be difficult to plan a show with backup singers, but their vocals could be just as easily recorded. And it's just as readily been forgotten about by the fans; it's very rarely mentioned during discussions of favorite tracks from that or any other album. It didn't even show up on the best-of collection, which saw the inclusion of two non-single tracks and three covers on a seventeen-track release.

"Tainted Love" has fared little better over the years. For being as big a hit as it was around the turn of the millennium, it seems to have been basically shelved in favor of "Personal Jesus", and for no readily apparent reason. I'm not personally a major fan of either of those tracks, but I do find it odd that "Tainted Love" hasn't shown up during a live performance for five years. And it's also interesting when viewed from the perspective of the fan base: it's literally one of Manson's biggest hits, original or otherwise, and it's a track that almost nobody talks about. "Coma Black" was played more often on the last tour than "Tainted Love".

We all know Manson loves movies. I can't help thinking that this song has a lot in common with the premise of Boondock Saints. A movie about a couple of handsome Irish boys who, feeling that they cannot function any longer in their rotting crime ridden city, decide to kill people they feel are deserving of being cleansed from the earth. Culminating in a scene where a gang boss is assassinated in a courtroom by being driven to his knees and prayed over before being executed.

In the movie the two vigilantes kill a few people by shooting them cross ways through the backs of their heads in a way so that the eyes are missing. "Bullet holes for eyes". Other victims have coins placed over their eyes, but certain victims have their eyes blown out so that they cannot cross the River Styx.

At the end of the movie, during the credits, there are mock news interviews with pedestrians, many of whom seem to feel that they are vindicated in their actions. People think they are admirable. Murderers are Getting Prettier Every Day.

Don't the guitar and vocals cover alot of pogos playing? Is there a way to hear more synth parts, and samples that are covered over guitars and/or recorded on a very low sound on the first couple of albums?

Bands members throughout the ages - Dress up Jobs or Shared Vision w/Manson?

As twiggy was discussed including his place and contribution the process behind the bandwhat extent do you the think the rest of the band members were genuinuely in it for real?

We know Pogo had interests that contributed to the band. Gidget Gein lived and breathed the band. Sarah lee, and Zim Zum had been in similar styled groups leading towards an more industrial edge.

But i'm skeptical to whether, scott, john 5, ginger fish et all including pogo were really into the lifestyle fashion and belief systems that mansons created and also adopted from other sources (aside of the rock star lifestyle)

Do you guys think there was a high chance that these members were simply just playing by these rules:

1. tag along with whatever mansons conceptual and/or album theme is
2. follow whatever manson and the fashion consultants tells you to wear and pose
3.due your musical part , get your paycheck and go home
4. Have entirely different belief systems from the band and live a typical - routine life and dress normally.

Is it the after effects of alchohol and drugs, laziness,? perhaps depression? Why would someone pay to see this? As a major label-artist, and established rock star he's live vocal fuck ups are quite alot.

PS-Writing posts critical of manson should be not been seen a threat. I'm just someone who is criticizing an artist based what he has done. Nothing personal against anyone here.

Do you think there is a way to make him more aware of this. What can he do to prevent it this somehow?

Have Manson live vocals improved this era?

According to MediaTraffic.de "Born Villain" has sold 80,000 units in its first week of release, including 38,000 units in the United States and 7,000 units in the UK.

As it sells quite poorly and even worse than "The High End of Low", I don't think this is going to be Mr Manson's big comeback ...
