That's what I asked myself, too. Even here in Germany it's in the news everywhere. Whooo cares? :D

I'm an anti-royalist so I have absolutely no interest in the forthcoming nuptials whatsoever.

Unfortunately there's no way to really avoid it here.

All talk of it will die down eventually though.

Having said that, I hope Prince William makes a better job of marriage than most of his close relatives have.

Other than that, at least, she's got a fucking richest bitch with the nicest ass. William has good taste at least. :P

I understand a lot of people have no interest, but I just finished watching just over 6 hours of coverage of the event on BBC News.
I've never been much of a 'Royal Watcher', and I've not been overly focused on any of the mountains of media relating to the wedding broadcast via the media each and every day, but I did watch it because I thought of it as a cultural event.
Whether you like the English Royal family or not, the wedding of Charles and Di in 1981 was one of the biggest events of the 20th century, and due to the fact that I was 1 year old at the time, I obviously have no memory of it as it happened.

I chose to watch it because, to me at least, it may well be one of the biggest events on the Earth during my lifetime. I've heard news reports that 2.5 to 3 billion people worldwide watched the broadcast in some way.

I'll always remember what I was doing when I first heard about the Gulf War, I'll always remember what I was doing when I heard that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Centre, and I'll always remember what I was doing when Prince William and Kate Middleton were married.

Thinking back on it, I think it might have been worth the trip to London just to be in the crowd that lined the streets and watched the procession. I think it would have been amazing to experience something like that firsthand.

I'm curious to know if any of our English or European PM members were in town for it, and could let us know what it was like to be a part of something so massive.

I aren't that bothered about the pomp but I became a convinced royalist when I thought what a horrible prospect it would have been having Tony Blair as 'President'. And elected politicians are so contemptible that they make royalty look very good in comparison.
