A great man has died today. I may not have had a chance to read any of his books, but he is certainly one of the reasons for my intellectual growth. I don't doubt he inspired many others to be thinkers as well. As much disdain as he'd get from hearing this, he is one of my 'heroes' and I strive to one day be on the same cognitive level as him. No matter your religious affiliation, one can't deny the effect he's had on this society. Thanks for everything. Christopher Hitchens. 1949 - 2011.

I didn;t always agree with him, but I admired the man nevertheless for his no nonsense commentary and writings and for at least havign a set of balls - he didn't kowtow.

Definitely a great man. Incredible intellect, memory, passion, clarity and opinion. His critiques were always without fault of fact, a great voice has gone, but his books remains, along with his essays.
