Nice theme and the slow appearing linear title sequence of the 1st Alien movie!
Some say it's a prequel perhaps before Ripley discovered it. :p
Think I might see this.. Even the spaceship resembles much like in the original Alien movie...

Apparently it's set in the same universe as Aliens, but isn't about the creature itself.
For example it's been confirmed that the Weyland-Yutani corporation is involved...
You can see the "space jockey" (0.43 secs) - the alien pilot the Nostromo crew come across just before Kane gets attacked by the Facehugger - oh I am VERY excited about this! And of course thats the "donut" as it was called during filming of the original ship.
Still can't believe we have to wait six months for it though!

Same here. Charlize Theron and Noomi Rapace (The Swedish girl with the Dragon Tattoo my new crush) are in this.. I dunno which one will be trying to be like the kick-ass character counter-part of Weaver's Ripley.. Even if they tried too be awesome like her character, they're still no match for the original queen alien slayer. :p

Would be nice if the trailer showed anything about the story. Looks interesting, though I suppose.
Close my eyes just to look at you.
yeah it doesn't give too much away but from that trailer I can't fucking wait to see this film. It looks like it's going to be awesome!
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1446714/faq#.2.1.2 Interesting read. You may be right. But to me this is my Ridley translation of that interview: "It's not an alien prequel but we're giving references and hints of how the alien ship and disc jockeys appeared in the 1st movie. No aliens but subtle subliminal hints of the Alien franchise."

There's an article in Empire Magazine, doesn't really give too much away either just a few small pieces. I've had it for a few weeks but only just had the time to sit down and read through it.
On going back to ALIEN...
The Empire article basically covers it saying it's an alien prequel but a movie on it's own.I felt there was still life in the old sod, but it has evolved into something else. To stick to the story, you don't really get it until about eight minutes from the end.
It says Damon Lindelof is one of the writers, he's probably listed online anyway but I didn't read that before and he wrote LOST so this makes me very happy.
2 small pieces of the article talking about the film -
The crew of the Prometheus follow a perplexing message to a planet that will open their eyes and their chests to a new alien race. "A crew of scientists embark on a journey somebody else is paying for."Even at the time of Alien, some 32 years ago, Scott mentioned he was interested in exploring the origins of the 'Space Jockey', the dead pilot of the derelict "space croissant". He talked about bioengineering and biological warefare as potential themes. Has he been able to satisfy his curiosity in that respect? "Definitely." And what significance can we draw from the pictures slowly being released, especially the giant humanoid 'head' that looms over what Scott terms the "ampule chamber"? "Oh, there's a lot more to it," he says wafting explanations away.
"I've locked up all the sweet stuff..." Including something familiar, perhaps?
I just hope Lindelof didn't completely jettison all the stuff that made that first, leaked draft of the script so awesome before he came on-board.
It was truly an incredible script and a fascinating read.
Steampunk space battles, hybridized genetic precursors of future-aliens, and telepathically-forced gay-rape for kicks in an Alien prequel...?!?
I AM FUCKING THERE.
