Have yet to hear the album. From what I hear with the songs chosen from Spotify, I'm not entirely keen on. Nothing bad going on, but nothing that knocked me on my ass so far and nothing I'd feel like sharing with anyone. Mediocre stuff, really. We'll see how the album turns out as a whole. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, and not letting previous reviews raise me up or get me down. I'll give it an honest listen, which is what Manson deserves for all my years of enjoyment. I think my feelings so far stem simply from growing up, unfortunately. Not digging much of the stuff I used to really be into.
M friend who hated the last 3 albums love this album. It takes some listens to get use to some songs but there is some amazing songs. I love that the vocals and all the layers. I also love they are not perfect. Makes the album even better. This is my favorite album since Holy Wood and I think I like it better then Mechanical Animals and Holy Wood.

I disagree, his voice is stronger here than it's been since GAOG.

But Manson was fat in 2007? He looked pretty good then. Maybe it's because I'm comparing it to how he looks now.

Anyway, I sort of wish "You're So Vain" wasn't on the version of the album I listened to. It fucks up the consistency and makes it so BTSOG has less of an impact as the last song on the album.

totally disagree. his voice was better on EMDM and basically carried that album. I really can't compare it to THEOL because I couldn't stay awake long enough to notice his vocals.

Oh yes, the MM is fat crap started with the Against All Gods tour in 2004. Probably earlier.

The cover is pretty good, but it should be in the album proper. Def not after the closer. Right after "Children Of Cain" maybe?

Seriously? Have you even heard EMDM?

I'm kidding of course, I think we can both agree that his voice hasn't been at it's peak since at least GAOG

You are the only II have heard say this.. lol.. from the people I know and myself EMDM's vocals were not very good at all for a Manson album. Compare "Born Villain" the song to "Red Carpet Grave" not even close. His vocals are amazing on this album. I like EMDM btw but i'm just saying.

I more or less disliked EMDM intensely for several years until I went back and revisited it earlier this year. When I decided to hate it, I hated because of how small it sounded. I think I started to like it for exactly that reason. the album does have a degree of intimacy to it that no other Manson record has, you just have to treat as being a Brian Warner solo record rather than a Marilyn Manson record (if that makes any sense). I also like Skold's playing on there quite a bit and I think he injected a comparable (if not superior) level of passion to what Manson was trying to achieve vocally/lyrically.

I kind of agree with you on this.

"You're So Vain" is a complete 180 from the rest of the record and seems like a joke, and/or some sort of novelty to help sell the record. I couldn't help but laugh and shake my head at the end when I heard it. It's not a terrible cover, I actually sort of like it, but I do agree that it gave "Breaking the Same Old Ground" less of an impact.

Although I do agree with Manson that it does feel like "end title credits" music . (http://www.fuse.tv/2012/04/manson-ex...th-johnny-depp)
