Default Listening to music - Equipment Suggestions

Purpose of this thread: Obtaining suggestions of equipment necessary to propely listen to vinyl and compact discs at home.
Limitations: Budget should not exceed €2000 (2515 USD)

I have been thinking for a while of purchasing a decent Hi-Fi set-up for my apartment. The only problem is that I have no fucking clue of where to start.

I have a descrete collection of modern vinyls and plenty of space to play around with.

Considering that at least a couple of you must have heard decent music (obviously not referring to Manson's last three creations) I was hoping you could aid me in installing a lasting set-up.

    Thank you and all that.

I've always wanted vinyls but never got around to them. Instead I got sucked into the whole mp3 thing. I did listen to Lateralus on vinyl a long time ago at my friends place. It sounded amazing to say the least.

Geek alert .. you've been warned

So the major components are as followed

    - Speakers (you might consider a sub with your two mains, but good speakers should recreate plenty of bass)
    - Receiver/Amp (this is where you connect your CD / turntable / ipod /etc to, which connect out to your speakers)
    - Phono Preamp (if your receiver does not have a phono input built in, you need this to go between turntable and receiver/amp)
    - Turntable & Cartridge/CD Player/Ipod

All elements will impart the quality of the sound, but if you think you might upgrade overtime you can focus your money on certain elements. Here's something decent quality wise

    Turntable w/ Cartridge: http://www.needledoctor.com/Denon-DP...2&category=348 - $419
    Phono Preamp: http://www.needledoctor.com/Pro-Ject...category=35249 - $200
    Receiver/Amp: http://www.needledoctor.com/Cambridg...2&category=271 - $300

That gets you around $1000 USD with the rest you can split up to your speakers, if you need/want to add a CD player and of course just wiring to hook it all together. With turntables, you can upgrade components overtime. What I posted is a decent entry level with a good performing cartridge.

I'm short on time, so this was just thrown together but pick my brain. I'm full of this nonsense.

Why don't you buy a really nice guitar and start making music? =)
