Man I'd be happy if he put a picture of a turd as the cover, it's David fuckin' Bowie's first record in ten years!

To recreate and reflect on the past, apparently Bowie went back in time to 1994 and created the album art on MS Paint:

That is definitely an album cover that is not meant to please, but to make a statement. I'm pretty intrigued by the faceless motif. His face is covered on both the website and on the album cover, with a square, and the video for "Where Are We Now?" ends with his projected face getting up and leaving the puppets face blank.

I'm sure everyone's seen it by now, but I'll post the tracklisting here for completion's sake.

    01. The Next Day 3:51
    02. Dirty Boys 2:58
    03. The Stars (Are Out Tonight) 3:56
    04. Love Is Lost 3:57
    05. Where Are We Now? 4:08
    06. Valentine's Day 3:01
    07. If You Can See Me 3:16
    08. I'd Rather Be High 3:53
    09. Boss Of Me 4:09
    10. Dancing Out In Space 3:24
    11. How Does The Grass Grow 4:33
    12. (You Will) Set The World On Fire 3:30
    13. You Feel So Lonely You Could Die 4:41
    14. Heat 4:25

Valentine's Day and Set The World On Fire seem vaguely familiar somehow. Can't quite place why that is.

Wasn't too keen on the song, but the video for this is daring to me because it looks like it could have been released more than 10 years ago, which is a GOOD thing. Nice to hear new music.

"I'd Rather Be High?" As opposed to what? Low?

I just read this According to his beleaguered representatives, there will be “no interviews, no live shows, no explanations, just the album” in this feature on the Telegraph website: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/m...-comeback.html

At the risk of being accused of sycophancy, everything about it is brilliant, from the secrecy and lack of fanfare of its' release to the austere cover, and agree 100% with Neil McCormick's review.

I was hoping it would be a little more in the style of the single, but apparently it's a rock album and Where Are We Now is the exception. Still looking forward to hearing it, but my expectations aren't so high now. I liked Heathen and Reality, though the experimental tunes like Sunday stick more than the straight-ahead rock stuff.
