It would have been the same with Pogo, all he really did was press play, then drink a beer and spank his keyboard at random times. My band has lots of samples, and we use clicks, if anything goes wrong it can be a nightmare. Luckily nothing has ever screwed live for me, but in practices there has been a few times when technical issues screwed up the song, rather than it been a band member. With my click track as the drummer, I usually use little bell chimes to let me know when a song is reaching a next section, in my in ear headphones, so in case there is any monitor issues, which EVERY musician runs into at a few venues

Ok...back from 4 day trip to Vienna.

    And what about Manson?

It was my fourth concert (2001 - Prague CZ, 2003 - Tabor CZ, 2008 - Bratislav SK) and in comparison for past shows which i saw, it was mindblowing. Guns, God & Government show was simply best, but in next step is this year performance in Vienna. Manson was in top form, screaming shit out of his lungs. Yes, he was lost in the begining of Mobscene. ACSS was fucked up by Jason, but i don´t really care. I´ve had great time. Probably my last show and I am totaly satisfied.

And Zombie? One big, hairy, colorful joke.

Great night to be a Manson fan.

Finally I've found some time to give you some information about my trip from Ingolstadt to Vienna and Munich.
I've wrote the Manson-related stuff in bold so if you feel like only reading these parts and you don't care about my other shit, it's perfectly alright.

We (my girlfriend and brother) started our trip on Saturday morning. And yes it was way to early to start anything. But as we where able to get us three Meet and Greet tickets we had to be in Vienna at around 14.30 pm. The distance from Ingolstadt to Vienna is about 500 kilometers which means it takes about 4-5 hours time, depending on the weather and traffic… Oh yeah the weather we come to that shit later. The way to Vienna was easy and there was almost no traffic at all. So we arrived at 11.30 pm at out hotel and had time to check in, shower and eat something. The anticipation for the Manson Meet and Greet was rising. As a long time fan and admirer of his art, it would be a dream come true to meet him.

Around 14.00 pm we arrived at the venue and there were already 5-7 people waiting in line. We joined them and saw the golden ticket sign right at the door. So everything looked perfect. It was freezing outside, so we were really happy that after two cigarettes they opened the doors exactly on time. By now about 90-100 people were in the line. Inside the venue we met lovely Melanie who was in charge of handling the Meet and Greet. Off-topic: Thank you for being so kind and awesome Melanie.
After we received our goodie bags we waited in line. 50 Minutes later Melanie came from the backstage area and told us "We have some problems getting Manson into the room". I thought this was really funny, because I somehow expected it. Manson, the diva. Of course, he will let us wait.
Nevermind, after 20 more minutes Melanie told us to come with her.

We walked thorough the backstage area and from there we could see the stage. The DRUGS sign and double crosses looked fn awesome and I couldn't wait to see the live show. My eight show btw.
After 10 more minutes we were standing in front of the room where Manson was in. Here comes the only thing I have to criticize: we were not all together in one big room and could watch Manson how he reacted to other people etc. Everyone at a time had to go into the tiny, little room. So there was not much time you could spend with him. I think this was not Manson's or his crew's fault but the organizers of the venue in Vienna. But never mind, this did not stop me from being over excited.
First my girlfriend entered and Manson asked her what's her name was and signed her "I've got my arm around no one" painting from him. "To J from MM" Such an awesome touch to the painting. I was so glad that it worked out great for my girlfriend and then...
…finally, it was time for me to enter the room. I grabbed my "holy bible" which I wanted him to sign and stepped into the small room where candles where burning, Born Villain was playing and a mirror was standing. BAM. There he was. The greatest rockstar of all time in all his glory. Goddamn it he is one hell of a tall dude. His make-up was perfect and he just had such an amazing presence that filled the whole room. I know his stage presence from the live shows but that was much so more standing so close to him. He shook my hand and took my bible and smiled a little bit, then I asked him if he could draw me something because I wanted to use it as a tattoo. He drew a flower of evil and signed it with MM and the double cross. I shook his hand again and wished him the best for the show. Don't know why I already did this because the photo wasn't made at this point. I was just to excited.
After that my girlfriend and I were just blown away. We couldn't stop smiling and were all smiles. We stood again in line and waited for our photo.
At this time Twiggy and Fred were doing soundcheck on the stage. This also explains why Twiggy isn't at the Meet and Greets and the moment.
When we entered the room my girlfriend was again the first to get her photo. Manson hugged her and and smiled at her and it was just awesome.
Then it was time for my photo. I didn't know how to pose so Manson just grabbed me and put his arm around my shoulder and the picture was just perfect. It was such an amazing moment. I shook his hand again (third time this day) and wished him a great show again. He padded me on the shoulder and smiled. It was just phenomenal. Thank you Marilyn Manson for this great experience.

We had to go outside the venue because early access was just at 18.00 pm. We brought our stuff to our hotel room, eat something and jumped right back to the venue at about 19.00 pm. We had seats because we wanted to enjoy the show from the stands. We checked the merchandise and bought us some shirts and then went to our seats. The opening "DJ" was beyond horrible. Possibly the worst thing I've heard in my entire live. You couldn't handle his bullshit remixes of great songs. Total idiot.

But then it was time for show. The light went out and the "Suspiria" intro started. I hoped for Manson to do the "Macbeth" quote at the beginning and BAM there it was. "this is a tale told by an idiot" and so on. The intro together with the speech of Macbeth is just awesome. Great way to start the set.
The curtain dropped and "Hey, Cruel World" started. And it started like the fires from hell. The sound was awesome and Manson's voice was at its best. "Creator, Preserver, Destroyer". His screams were so mind-blowing. Unbelievable. I went to seven show before this one and his screams have never been better. After the opener, "Disposable Teens" followed and I thought it was the "Guns, God and Government Tour." It sounded exactly like the cd. Just freaking amazing.
The pope outfit was one of my favorites and I've never seen him wear it live. So that was really fun. Unfortunately, the smoke gun fucked up and he couldn't use it. After "The Love Song", "No Reflection" followed with the butcher dress and the new mask and the woman on the operation table. Manson did some sexual antics and sit on top of her. Great stuff.
Next one was "mOBSCENE". Wow. Manson totally fucked this song up. It took him about 2 minutes till he found into the song. It was funny and it can happen. We were at a fn rock show and so no complaints.
"The Dope Show" started with the "Happiness is a warm gun" intro, I think. Not sure about it, would be great if someone could get back to me about this. And confirm what song it was. After seven live shows it was the first time that Manson did not sing "The drugs they say are made right here in *insert city*" He just sang " are made in California" . Just a little side note.
I don't know what happened but after "The Dope Show" the sound of the whole band got somewhat shitty. I think someone changed the settings. It's a shame because the band and Manson sounded great till this point. It wasn't horrible after that, but it could have been better.
Manson took his guitar and "Slo-Mo-Tion" started. I love it when he play the guitar "like an asshole". It's just fun to watch. I like it when Manson is enjoying himself on stage.
"Rock is dead" was solid as always. Twiggys guitar looked awesome with the neon light on.
The intro and the stage set up for personal jesus was awesome. I love it when Manson is wearing a suit and his red tie. Not sure about the song, because I thing "Target Audience" would fit so much better with the shock symbol flag in the back and the other stuff. But never mind.
"Sweet Dreams" was a highlight for me. The three-headed mask and the swinging light were just incredible and the crowd absolutely went nuts for the song.
The light became blue and snow was falling down on us. It was time for "Coma White". Due to the sound problems it was a tad to loud so it sounded kind of not the way it is supposed to sound. But it was good nevertheless.
Twiggy started "KIng Kill 33" which I absolutely adored. It's such a great, powerful song live. I think they should play it longer. Not just as a intro for "ACSS". The podium with the barbed wire, the light at the shock logo and the two bodyguards with gas masks is just freaking amazing. It was a shame that Jason fucked up the intro and Manson and Twiggy did not know when to start the song. But nevertheless it is one of the strongest live songs. And no hard feeling for Jason. Mistakes happen and there are bad days.
I hate it when they play "The Beautiful People". I love the song but after it, the show's over. Manson and band rocked the shit out of the "Stadthalle" in Vienna. "The Beautiful People" was so powerful and strong. It was a pleasure to hear on of there best songs. Manson got pissed at the end and destroyed a drum from jason and kicked a PA. Good old days. Just like the good old days.

Overall, it was a great show. Not the best I've been to, but top 3 material, definitely. The stage props and costume changes were versatile and so different. The sound from the first 6 songs was just…. no words…awesome. I watched Manson and band this year in Austria, Dornbirn and there they where much more into it. Manson was much more talking during songs and twiggy was much more rocking out. In Vienna, Twiggy just seemed bored. Don't know why. This was just for the record. The show was in school grades a B+. And what I always love about Manson, no show is like the other. Thank you so much.

Zombie was good, if you are into a "Britney-Spears-like-choreographed" show. I hated his crowd-pandering and he definitely cannot sing. John 5 is a beast live. Greatest guitar hero in the world. Good rock show, but not more not less.

After the show we went to bed and prepared for the Munich show.
We started in Vienna at 13.00 and wanted to be in Munich at about 18.00 pm but then the snow hell broke lose…. to be continued in the Munich thread!

Weirdly enough, Manson seems to fuck up Mobscene at every concert of this tour in Europe. They should have switched to another song by now. Thanks for the story and great photo with Manson!

Thanks for your review, Mexxecutioner! Awesome photo. I didn't see you (or in Dornbirn), but I'm glad you had such a great time too. In Dornbirn he talked more and played longer because there was no curfew.

I can only repeat myself and say that the show was awesome, and as you said it, no show is like the other. While I loved that the Hey, Cruel World... show was stripped down, I also loved the stage setup on the Twins of Evil tour. It was perfect, to the point, entertaining and meaningful. Rob Zombie's stage was just big and colorful, but I guess that's what people are into...

    Here's another video I found:

You can't tell me this is bad, his performance beats everything from the past few tours.
