Default Guillermo Del Toro's Pacific Rim (No trailer yet)

Official photo sets.. Either that, or he must've played Mass Effect 2 and 3 too much to come up with these costumes!! The black dude even looks like a dead ringer of the Mass Effect character Jacob the marine!

I wonder if he must've been taking out of Michael Bay's tranformers guideline lately.

Wish I could edit the title thread.. Del Toro apparently is turning into a Michael Bay director now. Still, I'd watch anything that has Del Toro's name on it. :p

Firstly, I've been telling everyone I know to watch that fucking trailer. Can't WAIT to see this movie!

But it should be pointed out here that del Toro's films have pretty much ALWAYS featured pretty elaborate and over-the-top action setpieces, which have pretty consistently escalated in scale along with his success and the budgets of his films.

Michael Bay's success with the Transformers franchise has obviously blown the doors WIDE open for anyone else who feels like taking a stab at oversized robots beating the shit out of whatever, but the connection pretty much ends there. The next two movies del Toro's set to direct are a haunted house movie and Pinocchio so you can calm down with the alarmist hyperbole ffs, lol.

    :P

Looks like what i'd expected a big budget Power Rangers movie to be like... Could be fun i'll probably check it out but i didn't see anything real special about it.

Kaiju meets Lovecraft by Del Toro?

    I can dig it.

Jax and Clay aka Hellboy from Sons of Anarchy. Yep, Del Toro has officially pulled a Michael Bay on us.

So continuing successful collaborations with talented actors is a signature Michael Bay trademark now?

I mean...wtf are you even trying to say?

    :P

    Another BADASS trailer, btw!

I think they're criticizing him for making such a big, CG explosion fest with mechs (connecting them to Transformers). What they're ignoring is that, unlike Transformers, this looks fucking awesome in a way that only my inner twelve-year old can describe without being a completely stupid and condescending film.

Seriously, this looks like pure fun at the movies without treating you like an idiot as an audience-member and we don't get both of those as often as I'd like to see in big-budget Hollywood.

I suppose I should've known better than to even attempt to draw any logical connection between the two sentences comprising the entirety of that post, lol.

And where was all this cynical criticism of del Toro "making such a big, CG explosion fest with mechs" during, say, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, eh?

Ugh. This whole del Toro = Bay thing is fucking retarded.

    Carry on.
