I just finished reading a very recent Brian Molko (Placebo) interview today and came across something interesting:

"We kind of keep re-writing a lot of songs in order for them to become playable for us so that we can connect with them. Most recently, we’re on our fourth version of “Teenage Angst” from the first album. We have a brand new version of that, which is actually my favorite of the four. It took 20 years since I wrote that song for us to settle on what I think is the definitive version, but that’s OK"

A similar approach can possibly breath a new life in the overplayed singles MM want to play in all their shows. It's gotta make it a lot more fun for both the band to play and the audience to enjoy. They should probably start doing that on some level.

    interesting idea
i wouldnt mind if marilyn and band fucked around on stage with overplayed songs
i think they do that anyways, somewhat

as far as rewriting songs and re releasing them
or playing the new version at all the shows? ehh
im not sure how i feel about that yet
    seems blasphemous! lol
i think i would rather just hear less played songs,
or songs we havent even heard live yet
    or new music

    I wanna hear things like:

    OTPOM
    ldygda
    iwtkyltditm
    rtteotw
    foe
pretty much any BV we havent heard live
and less played songs from THEOL

    sprinkled with things like

    target audience
    snake eyes
    cyclops
    dried up, tied
    deformography
    user friendly
    wormboy
    place in the dirt
    slutgarden
    spade

"I'm a strip, strip, strip, and I flicker, flick, flick, flick
A flicker of celluloid and there's holes, holes, holes
    In my everything"

Thought about this quite a lot - my ideal set with theatrics too.

    1. Cruci-Fiction in Space
Laser gloves, stage filled with smoke.

    2. Disposable Teens

    3. The Love Song
    Big red Celebritarian cross enters.

    4. Get Your Gun

    5. Mechanical Animals
    Complete with stilts.

    6. Devour
    (As performed on THEOL tour)

    7. Sweet Dreams
    Interrogation light.

    8. Rock is Dead
    With disco-ball helmet.

    9. Great Big White World
    Performed in cellophane-wrapped box.

    10. The Dope Show
    With coat, boa and glasses.

    11. Cake and Sodomy

    12. Rock 'n' Roll Nigger

    13. Lunchbox
With audience participation like calling a fan on stage to sing or passing mic around.

    14. The Beautiful People
    With fireworks.

    15. Antichrist Superstar

    16. Man That You Fear
    With snow.

    Discuss.

    { Suspiria theme intro }

    1. The Fall of Adam done on podium with swastika dollar signs instead of the shock symbol.

    2. King Kill 33.

    3. Antichrist Superstar, done all the way through like during Dead to the World.

    4. Reflecting God with rising platform and constant smoke.

    5. Dope Show opening with Dewey Cox story sample and the line "There's a war on drugs, but I surrender!"
and "Remember, kids: Do not do MY drugs!" Manson will wear a top hat for part of the song, and huge "DRUGS"
    sign will be used.

    6. Burning Flag while wearing an American flag. At the end of the song he burns it.

    7. Sweet Dreams.

    8. Hate Anthem. During the, "And all the children sing, 'WE HATE LOVE! WE LOVE HATE!' " intro, have roadies hold microphones on stands out over the audience.

    9. Armagoddamnmotherfuckingeddon, movie set theme with cue cards. Band members wear Mickey Mouse ears.

    10. New Shit.

    11. SLO-MO-TION.

    12. I Want to Kill You like they do in the Movies.

    13. Pretty as a Swastika with Nazi officer hat.

    14. Murderers.

    15. Coma White done from inside the Space Cube.

    16. Dissociative. He cuts his way out during the, "Three... two... one..." part. The idea is that he said that he can't escape, but he's proving himself wrong.

    16. Hey Cruel World.

    { Encores:
    17. Target Audience.
    18. Cruci-Fiction in Space. }

    16. Hey Cruel World.
That would be awesome, these three tracks would be so cool to be seen performed in this way.
    High five!
