Here is a set I would love to see. I'm the sort of person who thinks very methodically about which songs would compliment each other in the most appropriate ways, whilst also being a set you'd get a lot out of aesthetically and musically. If I wanted this to just be a Manson compilation then I'd submit different songs, that's another topic though, these are the ones I think would work best in the live arena.

[intro . recorded track, preferably by the band]

    01. Cruci-Fiction In Space
    02. Apple Of Sodom
    03. Deformography
    04. The Love Song
    05. Pretty As A Swastika
    06. Snake Eyes And Sissies
    07. Angel With The Scabbed Wings
    08. The Nobodies
    09. The Death Song

    [brief interlude . pre-recorded backing]

    10. Devour
    11. Mechanical Animals
    12. Spade
    13. I Want To kill You Like They Do In The Movies
    14. Wight Spider
    15. Murderers Are Getting Prettier Every Day
    16. We're From America
    17. Antichrist Superstar

[final interlude . extended mix of penultimate song intro]

    18. EAT ME, DRINK ME
    19. The Last Day On Earth

This - for me at least - would be note-perfect. These aren't necessarily all my favourite Marilyn Manson songs, neither are they necessarily the best from their respective albums, or the best that could be given a performance live, but it's the fluid selection I feel does the right job of taking the audience on a journey through Manson's sound, whilst also visiting every studio album or 'era' at least once.

For the backing tracks, I wanted to use some of the incidental pieces Manson's done over the years. The opening track for The High End Of Low tour was one of the best, it worked with whatever they chose as an opener on each leg. There are other great ones though.

Does anyone want to replicate the experiment I made whilst writing this, and actually create a playlist of all these songs in order (with intro tapes if they have them) and see how you think it all sounds?
As I finish this post I am at Mechanical Animals, and the whole thing has sounded amazing, the transition from Deformography into The Love Song was especially brilliant, as are the opening bars of Spade that just started.
    Can't wait for the conclusion...

Neat. I used to do that in notebooks when I was younger and only wishing I could see him . . . he doesn't come to the "deep south" that often, can't say that I blame him.

    1. Willy Wonka intro/Cake and Sodomy
    2. No Reflection
    3. Disposable Teens
    4. Overneath the Path of Misery (MacBeth intro of course)
    5. Heart-Shaped Glasses
    6. Saint
    7. The Love Song
    8. The Fight Song
    9. The Death Song
    10. Dope Hat Intro/The Dope Show
    11. Sweet Dreams (with a combination of all the nifty endings he's done before, and maybe him spanking some naked women, as he's done before . . . heh)
    12. Tourniquet
    13. The Beautiful People
    14. Coma White
    15. 1996 Intro/Antichrist Superstar

    Encore:

    16. Armageddon
    17. Irresponsible Hate Anthem
    18. Lunchbox
    19. Born Villain

Final Encore - to be reserved only for responsive crowds, _not_ the ones eating nachos and fucking around on their phones:

    Man That You Fear

So in writing that up, I realized how tough it must be to try to please everyone, with so much to choose from and some albums that are "iffy" that anyone will remember, compared to his "classics" (i.e. the "trilogy" and stuff before that) . . . he does a great job as it is. The one show I did finally get to see him (and it wasn't easy, drove a barely-surviving jalopie many hours, on my own, with an also-deteriorating cell phone - and to boot, nearly got mugged while lost in an unfamiliar city - yeah, I love music enough to really wing it sometimes) did not read like a greatest hits list, they only gave him time for about ten songs (festival), and he didn't get around to the one I'd always wished I could hear live ("Coma White"). But it was still even more awesome than I had built my hopes for all those years. So I just hope he keeps the element of surprise going, and . . . a bit self-serving, hope he keeps "Coma White" in the mix until I can see him again, if that ever happens. Frankly I'm just glad he's still around, because when Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry are considered controversial, I feel like music has become way less exciting than when he came on the scene.

And if you're really gonna' talk the ideal show, I'd just really like to see him ham it up like maybe a presidential-speech mockery for "The Beautiful People," some desecration of Bible and flag at the right times, and so on. The stuff I knew him for back when. And even though he likes to dress in black coats and stuff now since I guess he's put on some weight, I think it'd be cool to do the older songs in fishnet stockings and stuff, bondage gear, or that weird outfit he had for a while that sort of looked like "mummy" wrappings. You don't have to have a beautiful body for that. It was meant to be kinda' gross and unsettling in the first place . . . eh, but I'm kinda' glad he's finding new ways to express himself . . . that stuff was good at the time he did it because he wanted to make a statement and provoke people. I can see where once it becomes known as a "shtick" there doesn't seem to be much point in it anymore, from an artistic point of view. But just being selfish . . . I would like to see a show where he brought an amalgam of all the theatrics he's done throughout his career. It sounds like he's pretty colorful on this tour though . . . the stuff I've read sounds pretty close to "ideal" IMHO. Too bad he's not coming back to the "Bible belt."
