I think Marian is maybe turning me on now. *Smile*

Maybe you two should just get a hotel room already. *Frown*
I think I'm losing my innocence right now.
:-O
I've been saying this for years.
As a whole society, there's more disrespect, bullying, crime, murders and media corruption than there ever has been. It's sad to see how we got from Point A to Point B. If I was younger in the 20th century, I would NEVER believe we'd have such events, people and immoral things today that we have.
1950's, how did kids react to bullies? They never committed suicide, none I've heard of.
How many mass murder sprees were heard of pre-1990's? The rare serial killer, not much more.
Have we really gone so low as a society to exploit rape, molestation, murder and necrophilia in movies such as A Serbian Film to generate a scare or shock? Pathetic and immoral.
Has respect for other races, religions and sexual orientation become taboo to believe in? I see it more than ever before.
Whatever. My incessant lamenting won't solve anything.
I'm A Class Act
Some interesting points there but you also have to consider what was and wasn't reported in the western world during the 1950's. Those times are notoriously known for being conservative and turning the other cheek. It would, however, be very interesting to see some actual statistics.
I thought A Serbian Film was pretty great. While it was obviously made to upset and challenge the viewers threshold for fucked up shit, it did have a pretty clever plot and some remarkable cinematography. Every generation has had these kinds of films, Salo, etc so I don't think it's really a sign of the times.
It's of my own opinion that whether we are ascending to utopia or plummeting to dystopia completely depends on the perspective of the individual and most importantly where they are born. I don't know if humans are losing their innocence but one thing that can almost be certain is that countries in poverty will become poorer and and countries of wealth will become richer. How you view humanity largely depends on where you live.
