Mechanical Animals Vinyl Re-Release

Hey, folks

I just found this on Amazon. It looks like a reissue of the vinyl of Mechanical Animals! http://www.amazon.com/Mechanical-Ani...+animals+vinyl

Does anyone know if it's a 'real' reissue? I mean, are the vinyls blue and white, like the ones released in 1998? If so, I NEED to buy it!

Only thing I'd be worried about is who's reissuing it: Interscope or Cooking Vinyl.

Pretty sure Interscope won't be willingly relinquishing the rights to any of their multi-platinum, #1 albums any time soon.

Amazon lists as Universal which is parent to Interscope. The re-releases have typically been 3rd party (Simply Vinyl) which doesn't seem to be the case this time.

I'm pretty sure this happened last year or maybe even the year before. I remember someone posting on Babalon about it, they ordered and then the orders were cancelled and the item became unavailable. So I'm not really expecting much from this, if it is a reissue then it's cool, if it's amazon fucking up again then not so cool.

Just looking deeper, found that on Amazon.co.uk the vinyl is listed for Aug 13! but there's no pre-order and no stock and they don't know when they will get stock... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mechanical-A...4692896&sr=8-7

but it says the label is "Commercial Marketing" so I googled them and found this random site which is also listing MA vinyl with MP3 Download code, so I guess a reissue must be coming or something, although again it's out of stock.

Wow, I completely forgot about this. Glad you brought it up. The description for this item had me worried, since it's a direct rip from Wikipedia. Not to mention the fact that something this momentous is flying so far under the radar, I don't quite understand it. If a reissue is imminent you'd think it would be somewhat advertised, especially since we are closing in on August 21st. I'll wait to hear more about this before ordering and keep my fingers crossed that it's for real.
