If you look at interviews from most people they constantly repeat themselves I've noticed so many times from other celebrities not just MM it can be annoying but it's understandable when they constantly have to do interviews they can't come up with something new after being asked the same things so many times.

Also I agree that it depends on the journalists, for example everyone was getting pissed off when he appeared on That Metal Show or whatever it was called and he just pissed around and had fun but then he did an interview with revolver and it was one of the best interviews he has given in recent years so it just shows really you ask him stupid things he'll give you stupid answers, I still wish he'd do a TV interview in England though but I'll live without...

I like how we overlook Manson's repetitive and childish bullshit and blame the interviewer for being boring when Manson consistently gives dull answers. I think the interviewer had it figured out a few questions in. Manson is drunk and rambling. He is on an alcoholic binge and incapable of keeping his thoughts in line. It isn't artistic or cool. It's just insane alcoholism. Interviewing him is like talking to a roadside drunken hobo.

Right, I agree that drinking contributes to the problem and it's the reason behind SOME silly answers but stupid journalists and Manson's wit are factors that fuel this kind of repetitive, silly interviews. You can't deny that Manson had some of his greatest interviews this year like Metal hammer's interview and revolver's interview which were deep, intelligent and insightful, let aside some good TV interviews like the Swedish TV interview.Manson is drunk and drugged,OK he's both most of the time, but the responsibility still lies on the journalist to tease Manson's brain and to wake it up to have some good, coherent answers and that comes with the good, deep question not the superficial one.

Being a drunken asshole is still being a drunken asshole regardless of whether or not someone may be a bit of a prick in the first place. What is with this skewed, childish attitude of "Oh well someone was such a tool so it's great that he was being an asshat and showing that he's still an alcoholic who lost control of it"? Have that many of you just never learned that it's typically easier and better to take the high ground and instead of being an ass to someone who you don't like, be the opposite and it will actually highlight how much a dick they are? Oh well.

I can't believe some of the things I read here. Manson had just gotten off stage and he's not gonna give calm and insightful answers in this situation. His answers are always the same? Well, yes, to us, because we read every single goddamn interview. The casual reader might have never heard any of that. He's drunk and messing around? Seriously? After 23 of being Marilyn Manson he gets criticized for that? You're all acting likt that one person at the party who doesn't get drunk and later tells everyone what they did while they were drunk.

I enjoyed reading the interview and I also remember reading another interview last night where he didn't "ramble" and gave very insightful answers about playing with The Doors etc.

Here are a few key things to remember. When you say that Marilyn Manson is an insane alcoholic who acts childish and rambles, think of how each one of us speaks when we are drunk or under the influence of drugs. The other thing is that Manson tends to embellish how much alcohol he's consumed. Not that he doesn't get blitzed from time to time, but he has always had a knack for being a sarcastic, slightly addled gadabout. This is nothing new. For instance his own Autobiography is a self admitted, (mostly), work of fiction. I don't think us as a community can bash him about his drug or alcohol problems when we ourselves have our own dedicated topic to drug and alcohol abuse where we brag about our routine binges/trips. At the same time we really cannot profess to know that he even has a major drug or alcohol problem because only a slightly marginal amount of us know him on a personal level. He may try to portray himself as some fucked up dope star with more of an alcohol stream than a blood stream, and he may in fact be exactly that, but we don't know. All we know for sure is that he is an entertainer. As I said before also, he is dealing with some pretty heavy personal issues at the moment such as his mother and I am fairly certain that he has been contemplating a child? I'm not sure if he was being sardonic or not but him imagining having a child must be like contemplating the end of his lifestyle as well as how much time he commits to "being Marilyn Manson". As I said, his replies were funny.

I wonder if Manson spends 1/8 the time contemplating himself as we spend dissecting him. It's highly doubtful private Manson mirrors public Manson. He's been in this game long enough to know how to play it.

So, he's consciously made "public Manson" into an embarrassing, rambling, drunk? Genius!

I love it that when you say something in here that isn't 100% pro-Manson you are accused of being 'cynical' or 'ridiculous'. The guy is repeating himself constantly, in ROCK magazines and people usually buy several of those so a lot of people in the rock community (you know, they kind of matter seeing as they are usually his audience members) see these lame ass repeats.

He is also wasting peoples money with these rambling, mumbling performances which I think is fuckin' rude. I said somewhere else on the forum that I have a lot of respect for Marilyn Manson and love the majority of his works, but fuck that dude, that doesn't mean he can act like a dumb ass and fuck up performances night after night without me calling him out on it or at least having a laugh.

I do agree with Dv5 that he embellishes the amount of alcohol he drinks as well - I've got a feeling he hides behind that as an excuse instead of just fronting up and saying 'I'm fat, old and just don't give that much of a fuck'.

I didn't really want a calm interview either, that isn't what bothered me, what bothered me was it was just his usual lame shit. But yes, as Napalm said the interview he did with The Doors was great - but for fuck sake, it would want to be, because he is sitting down in a room discussing music with one of the pioneers of rock music. Isn't the least that we'd expect is for him to have his wits about him?
