MM does not take himself seriously as a guitar player. He just can make some sounds with it, and use it as a prop. The solo he played in the song sounds exactly what the video looks like lol
reverse icarus the sun's flown too close to us and there's no space to escape consciousness laid agape
I actually like the solo and think it's simplicity makes it work. Whirling a guitar around in the video was stupid but I didn't really see a whole lot of compelling ideas in there anyway. His guitar playing, while technically crap, usually works well in the context of the songs - and let's face it, Manson's never really been about musical virtuosity.
It's very cool and I LOVED it, period.
Not bad for a session of just dicking around with his buddies and a camera. Last part felt a little dishonest. The pane (looks like a shower pane) where "rape" is written looks to be probably the same one where those photos were taken of MM by Usich. There are quite a few of them, and I wonder if his use of them is a reference to Coppola's "The Conversation," considering the prominence of murder fetishism present in MM's later work.
Personally, I found the first minute to be truly great- kinda goes downhill from there, or at least nothing is as good as the first minute was, but still overall a better experience than the last video.
My opinion - it's not as awesome as The Beautiful People, but it's alot better then Heart Shaped Asses... kinda like a colorful version of PHIH. But who cares what I think, it's a Marilyn Manson video, just like the other ones.
Twiggy was my favorite part. ;)
Moving on.
