    Default Opeth

I got into Opeth later, saw them open for Lacuna Coil back in 2003. I definitely fall more towards the 70s prog infulenced stuff but favorite album is probably Blackwater Park. There's just something about the way they play their songs, just seems so soulful and bluesy.

If you don't know Opeth, got two hours and want to see two different styles - watch this.

Opeth is great. Blackwater Park is my favorite too.

Top three favorite bands: Manson, Opeth, Pink Floyd
Honorable mention goes to NiN, Tool+puscifer+APC, and old Eminem.

If I listen to them, I can enjoy stuff like Damnation but the death metal dominant growly songs are decent but not something I'd normally play. However they are a good band.

Opeth are great. The last album was quite good despite the stylistic departure.

Actually this thread re sparked my interest in the band, cool. I feel like checking out some stuff and hope to find stuff I enjoy as much as Damnation.

If you like more mellow, go for the post Damnation stuff (Ghost Reveries, Watershed, Heritage (which has amazing vibe)). You'll find the mellow influence through out all their stuff, but they mellowed out a bit from Deliverance onward. Wasn't as much into Watershed, but Heritage is fucking great.

I got to see them play live once, without ever having heard their music before. It was a treat. Beyond that I haven't listened to them, but I might give them a bit more of a try when I'm not in the singer/songwriter mood.
