I can't even remember the last time I listened to CoF. They were my favorite band for at least a decade, but I think I've just outgrown the gimmick. I would have preferred to see this band evolve as musicians and explore new sub-genres of metal.

I never bought or even downloaded the last album. I was so underwhelmed with 'Godspeed' that I never bothered.

Actually the new album is pretty varied.

The album is definitely growing on me with repeated listens. It doesn't hold a candle to their first few albums but it might very well be their best of the last few years and a lot better than their last album.

As I've mentioned before I still don't like some aspects of the modern Cradle of Filth sound; the seemingly 'canned' orchestral samples which serve as background filler more than anything else these days.

However, some elements of the album are reminiscent of classic Cradle of Filth, which, as I've said is a step in the right direction. "Frost on Her Pillow" and "Pallid Reflection" are probably my favourites on the album.

I am honored to have a song dedicated to me by them. :P

Nothing will ever surpass the dark geniality that surrounds "Cruelty and the Beast". I stopped listening to them after that horrible thing called "Thornography", yet every time they come out with a new album I still check it out. I guess I'm too old to listen to them, perhaps I've passed the days in which their music took me to imaginary dark forests filled with sexy fairies and sinister demons... It was fun when I was 17, but today it's just so cheesy. Still, I think this one is far better than the previous 2 albums, and that's saying a lot.

Yet, I have to admit that "Midnight at the labyrinth" kicks massive amounts of ass!!!

I actually found the new album to be a lot better than I anticipated, as after I'd heard For Your Vulgar Delectation I pretty much thought the whole album would have lyrics like that. Of course, there were some pretty disappointing lines in most of the songs; but overall the album is pretty good lyrically. Much better, still, than that of Nymphetamine and Thornography.

The album starts off pretty well, for me. The intro was pretty good, as always. Even Thornography had a good intro, part of the reason I was so disappointed with what I heard being sung throughout the record.

The first song on the album, The Abhorrent, is very fitting to start off the album. Its become one of my favourites on the album. The title track was really great.

Overall, I'd say this is my 3rd favourite album of theirs and is better than Darkly, Darkly Venus Aversa. A pleasant surprise, to say the least.
Desire is pain, eating away the worm in the brain ... Frontiers are coming down between body and soul, abrasive, insane, putting away the spark in the brain. Our flesh burns in mysterious ways.

Like the first of sins, there is no one to blame. The earth grew wet on the seventh day. And we sit down for a feast of hate. We eat each other in a twist of fate.
