Just because someone finds the current iteration terrible in no way means that previous accomplishments are diminished.
If I gave up on anartist I loved every time they put out a bad song/album or gave a shitty incoherent interview...well, fuck. I don't think I'd be listening to any music at all.

^^ I think he was more commenting on those who absolutely hate everything Manson says or does now, yet they stay around and comment on every single thing he does, etc.
=)
My point still stands though. I absolutely hated everything he said and did throughout 2006-2011 but I stuck around anyway. Why? Because his body of work prior to to 2006 was fucking phenomenal. Because I had hope that he'd someday return to past glories. Because even though his image and interviews and sound throughout those years were a fucking disgrace I was still in love with his previous body of work.
What Cringeon just said is that I basically should have given up the minute I heard Heart Shaped Asses.
I think my patience has paid off. BV has been fantastic in every way, although the interviews have been silly.

Well most of them are repetitive and somehow... silly, I think repetitive is a more precise word. However there are 30% good and coherent interviews which I've enjoyed. But yeah, most of his interviews for this era are repetitive and boring because he says the same words over and over again with the same boring sex jokes again and again till it turned into a cliche. As for born villain, I enjoyed listening to this album and I think it's a piece of solid, strong work at least we got 4 music videos and that indicates that Manson works his ass off this era.
Good for some laughs, but mostly nonsense or stuff I already knew from the book. I prefer his more serious interviews.
If things were up to me, there would be this rule: Out of every 10 interviews Manson does he gets to full around, talk nonsense, be drugged up on a maximum of 5 of them and on the other 5 he would have to be sober and actually give some information. This is because I believe Marilyn Manson as a whole, is way too interesting to be pushed aside for sex jokes and Mad Hatter talk.
Than on the other hand that could argued to be censorship and perhaps that would put me in the same spot as those whose faces and names Manson likes to place amongst swastikas and dollarsigns.
"Doing interviews is just as important as writing a song. A lot of people just don't take things like that as seriously, but in the end it has to be." - Marilyn Manson, Metal Edge, July 1999.
What happened, Manson?

I would love to see the shopping list Manson takes to Home Depot.
“Last words are for those fools who believe they have not yet said enough...”It's a stupid idea to hit yourself in the face in order to kill a fly crawling on it.
You know, for a second there I thought I saw a page or so worth of useless Internet shit-talking that had nothing to do with this interview. No? Well that's good then, we know where that kind of nonsense ends up.
Anyway, I enjoyed this much as some of the others over the past few months. I understand not all fans are going to resonate with all the things Manson discusses, but it's worth noting that outside that, every album the man's done the interviews have followed suit in some way or another. If you're promoting a record, talking to five different magazines/radio stations/TV stations etc. every week, the 'same old ground' will be trodden, and an entertainer will have a list of things they want to repeat to each set of ears.
The first person I noticed doing this was Bill Hicks, actually. There's TV interviews he did where much of what he says is just verbatim from live shows. And in turn, the live shows will have been repeated in each city/state, because it's called writing an act. Also, not everyone is a Marilyn Manson enthusiast, some people will only read this interview in relation to Born Villain, rather than having forum updates on every single new one.
Much like singing the same selection of songs each night, Manson likes to rehearse his interview responses as well, it wouldn't be anything new.
Oh, I liked making this comparison as well:-
"Now, I just play a misogynist on TV. I'm not nearly as bad as I seem."
"We're not fantastic motherfuckers, we just play them on TV." [The Golden Age Of Grotesque]
"Fools are my theme, let satire be my song."
