By default, my favorite artist, Jack White.
For quality of involvement, I really enjoyed (and not just saying this because this is a MM forum) Manson. I was front row, with my love, right there. Got touched and spit on by Manson -- as lame-fangirl as that sounds. Haha.
Close second comes Mindless Self Indulgence in '08.
photographer, drug fiend.
I forgot about MSI! Crazy energy!
hard to say but the best shows I've ever seen were Manson circa 98-99
Top shows in no particular order:
Black Sabbath (original line up) Saw them when they reunited in 2001
Rammstein - Just saw them last year. I'd missed them the last time they played here and had been waiting 15 years for them to come back.
Kaki King - At a small, intimate club show. Incredibly charming and an absolute virtuoso on guitar.
Devin Townsend Band/Zimmer's Hole/SYL - This was the single funnest show I've ever been to. All of these bands are composed of members from one or the other. And they played this incredible Halloween show in Toronto one year and spent the whole night cracking jokes and pulling pranks on one an other.
Opeth (Damnation tour) - I've seen this band about 7 times but the most memorable one was during the tour for their mellow record Damnation where they played the entire thing front to back. It also marked their first all mellow set and the first tour they played Face of Melinda live. We even got to hang out with Michael and Steven Wilson from Porcupine Tree for a while after the show.
Green Carnation - Got to see one of the few live performances of their 60 minute opus "Light of Day, Day of Darkness" as well as another set of some of their other material.
The Ocean - Heliocentric is one of my favourite metal in years and their live shows (with the projectors) are awesome.
Marilyn Manson - I've seen Manson 7 times but the first time I saw him takes the cake. That was back during the first tour for Holy Wood and featuring arguably the band's best line up.
It's hard to pick just one....however, some of the best shows I've ever seen have come from:
Rob Zombie
Marilyn Manson
Roger Waters
KISS
Motley Crue
GWAR
and some of the best bands I've seen for their sheer energy even if they had a minimum stage show, (though not always, some had both) would be
Rob Zombie
Wednesday 13
Dope
Anti Product
Twisted Sister
Gogol Bordello.
I've seen them perform 5 times and got really out of it on each occassion. Very intense energy at their shows. Lots of fun.
