I love that almost every Manson album has had a Gary Glitter throwback song: "Rock is Dead," "Disposable Teens," and "Arma-Etc." are all directly Gary Glitter homages, "Mutilation . . ." is actually pretty close to miming Glitter, and even "The Love Song" is like a slowed down "Do You Wanna Touch Me?" Depeche Mode and Rob Zombie have also done their own Gary Glitter impressions. He's become like the go-to source for when anyone needs a goth-glam anthem.

Not at all, the quote was in reference to Glitter's original 1997 arrest and subsequent prosecution for possessing illegal pornography on his computer. Glitter was re-arrested last year as part of Operation Yewtree following the Jimmy Savile scandal, but if there's a spot reserved for 'OG' sex criminal, before Townshend and all the rest, Glitter was the first high-profile celebrity caught in the act. As ever, Manson was courting controversy, or just speaking his mind, whichever seems more likely.
That's one of the things I find most intriguing about Marilyn Manson, actually, that there was a worldwide outcry when he was wrongly accused of influencing murder, but when people actually use his name to commit unspeakable acts, or he says something unsavoury himself, no one bats an eyelid. Regardless, I don't think a man who later based most of an album on Lolita has a problem making jokes about Gary Glitter.

Gary Glitter is certainly glad that boys will be boys, he's certainly disappointed when they grow up and become men.
My avatar looks like a mix of NIN, My Chemical Romance, and Chris Vrenna

David Bowie in the 1979 music video for "Look Back in Anger":

He's touching a painting of an angel.
    After which this happens,

Could this be related to MM's opening lyrics to "Leave a Scar"?
'I'm just a painting that's still wet, if you touch me I'll be smeared and you'll be stained...'

That's great thinking, I never connected this, it's not a far cry.

    Black balloons. Umbrella. Tunnel.

Tom does a "magnifying glass mouth" of sorts in the video which also feels Manson-esque ala "The Beautiful People."

In the Get Your Gunn vid it shows Manson wearing a witches costume (I can't really tell, it's probably something else and I can't remember) and it really reminds me of another one he wore in the Arma-goddamn-motherfuckin-geddon video.

Maybe it's got something to do with the fact that the Get Your Gunn video was censored.
