Don't worry my dear, I had no plans on discussing an album I haven't heard in detail, from what I understand that would be quite difficult.

Rock Hard interview Marilyn Manson (French mag, out now)

    To sum up:
    - The full album was recorded in 3 months but it took 9 months (like a pregnancy he says) to finish it.
    - The album title was inspired by a book Johnny Depp offered to him in France in 2000: Héliogabale ou l'Anarchiste couronné by French author Antonin Artaud.
    - Album lyrics were also inspired by An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge by American author Ambrose Bierce.
-MM asked his art director (Willow) to find a photographer to shoot the album art and then met Hassan Rahim. After the photoshoot, he picked the album cover art just by seeing the thumbail of it in a folder, he saw some kind of Francis Bacon vibe in it.
    - It doesn’t matter how i tell you about my meeting with Tyler Bates, it will always look like a gay porn scenario
    - The album was supposed to have only 9 tracks. Then, they added Cupid Carries A Gun as it was the first song they wrote together when they met. So it was the first they wrote and the last they recorded.
    - He is not working on Phantasmagoria. The first script had no chat, it was all about the description, like Hitchcock. He doesn’t want to film Phantasmagoria as he currently prefers acting in movies thant directing.

"La Vie de Brian"? Seriously, France? lol

Thanks for the summary, sounds interesting. In the german Sonic Seducer he also said that Odds of Even was the most important song for him on the record and how he recorded some wolves howling outside the studio with his iPhone and later added sound effects to this recording and then recorded the song.

Interesting. Sucks he isn't working on Phantasmagoria anymore, got me all pumped when he started production.

He should make it into a book.

The cover of TPE gave a "Francis Bacon" vibe to MM, maybe this is what he was think of:

And this was the Roman Emperor that inspired the title, which is Marcus Aurelius Antoninus Augustus commonly known as Elagabalus (pronounced elaGABalus) or Heliogabalus.

And the lyrics that were inspired from:
