I know that the whole Manson/Bowie references are rife but I haven't seen anybody post such a stark makeup comparison.
Notice the line below the lip (from as far back as ACSS), the strong pink around the eyes which Manson has sported in various forms over the years and the new addition of the large circle on the forehead.

Bowie has attained that this look was inspired by Kabuki theatre makeup, a style adopted from Japan.

Great observation, and thank you for very much for sharing. Bowie is a personal hero of Manson, and it's always fascinating to see how his inspirations fuel and shape his own work. I'm reminded of how he adopted the prominent Bowie lighting bolt into his *own* during Antichrist Svperstar, and I'm curious about the significance of this blue circle.

The first thing that came to mind was a bullet shot wound, because the first symbol for the era was literally crosshairs on a double MM, and because of the many references to violence and death in this and other albums. It's ironic that Christian America's #1 enemy during the 90's has personified Christ-like/martyrdom imagery in his stage performances and body of work.

I look forward to the day in which these forums or the NACHTKABARETT are granted public interviews for the fans, there are many questions about this era and Born Villain which have been left unanswered.

Skin, of Skunk Anansie's first solo single Faithfulness is lovely, but I only recently watched the video again for the first time since its 2003 release, and noticed a distinct similarity with Deep Six:-

Also, that bassline at 2:40, has a distinctly Twiggy-esque feel to it...

Not that this is necessarily a conscious connection in either case, but it's always fun to note these parallels. Incidentally, Skin and Manson have met before, they accepted awards together at the 1997 Kerrang! Awards. I've got that issue somewhere, shall try and get a picture of me with it.
