I've had the misfortune to be in attendance at an assortment of symposiums comprised of tutorials on how to concoct the quintessential political slogan that will rouse the masses into a voting frenzy. The problem is that most politicians are ignorant of the way in which language is morphing and are unwilling to compromise with a more loose-tie, colloquial rhetoric that might just win them support.

In order to be an effective rallying call to arms a slogan must include reference to imminent, positive change that can be maintained in the future. It must also be ambiguous enough to allow its consumers to percieve it in their own context. This is why 'Make America Great Again' is so, well, great. The 'again' is the red, white and blue icing on the cake as it evokes a nostalgia for something...anything for which its audience pine.

'Don't just hope for a better future, vote for one', with which Thatcher (scummy scum scumbag, yes) won the 1979 British election is also a brilliant example of a slogan that instils an ambiguous empowerment into its congregation. The prefix of 'Labour isn't working' is clever punmanship but really doesn't add much.

As for 'Blasting the past. Fighting for a future', this works because it is inclusive, empowering and optimistic for change and with regards to a slogan of my own, I'm going to mercilessly plagiarize from a variety of sources. Simply...

    ' Make Britain Imperial Again'.

I am pretty sure it is the implicit motto of Brexit anyway.

"Equality, Fairness & Freedom: For Real This Time"

"Fuckin' pipe dreams, how do they work? And I don't wanna talk to a realist, y'all motherfuckers skeptic and gettin' me pissed!"

"That was so honest I forgot to lie."

@Shangri-LIE - You know I had to. Well... Kind of, sort of... I'll see myself out, yet again. =P
