When was the best bit of the Internet? Because it's obviously not now, and I doubt it'll get any better.

The generally accepted answer is prior to September 1993.
and with just one faint glance back into the sea
the mollusk lingers with its wandering eye
Definitly early 2000. Before it, the interwebz was too slow and toooooo expensive xD
Current internet age is the best. Everything is a meme, including our elections.
Before the time of smartphones. Dem things + internet = phone zombies
Most definitely 2009 - 2013ish Lulzsec Lulzboat hacking the planet, including the FBI.

Back when my mum was still afraid of it, circa 2005 or so.
As much as I enjoy Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr and YouTube, I still sometimes have fond memories of the Internet before any of those sites existed. I only really had experience having and using the Internet since the early 2000s though. Most people I knew at the time also used Hotmail and Yahoo, aside from AOL as far as E-mail went. And now, just about everybody I know uses Gmail. (Which I also understand, since you also need Gmail to register and log in to YouTube these days anyway. Not to mention all of the other features that come with Google.)
And now, much time has passed to see people that don't remember the Internet before Facebook and YouTube.
Newgrounds and YTMND were also the places to be as far as memes and parodies went at the time.
