Default Manson on new X Japan album

X Japan’s first album in 22 years is "done pretty much," features Marilyn Manson

Yoshiki tells CoS that the record should be out sometime “late summer or early fall.” “Recording’s done pretty much, we just have to mix it,” he says. “It’s pretty edgy. It’s eclectic. Even though people want to say X Japan’s heavy-metal or hard rock, the album is very eclectic and a wide range is covered. I hope this album can contribute in bringing rock to the mainstream. I think I’m pretty confident.”

He also reveals that Marilyn Manson, with whom the band recently performed at Coachella, appears on one of the tracks.

Eh, I don't like X Japan, but I'll listen for MM.

Much as it's not wise to judge a book by its cover, the brief few minutes of what X Japan do that I heard from the concert with Manson was 100% not my sort of thing. Manson's done a few things with artists I don't like, however, it's always interesting to hear his creativity in different environments to his own.

If they are friends, I am sure it means a lot for Yoshiki, and probably Manson also.

That's true. But from what I've heard by them, it wasn't my thing. That performance was great, but are they really gonna do just Piano driven songs? Doubt it.

I'm sure it won't be over-similar to that performance, besides featuring the same two people. But overall X Japan isn't for me, so I'd only check out the Manson track with a passing interest. Over the past five years I've become incredibly immersed in a lot of different Hip Hop, but even so, Fancy Bitch (Pussy Wet) wasn't enough to make me want to listen to Diary Of A Trap God, because I think Gucci Mane is fucking terrible.

I've never listened to them so I'll have to reserve all judgement until its release.
