I know this is old news but I was always curious how you felt about MTV's censoring of "The Nobodies"? The edited-out the words "dead", "died", and "ratings." Guilty conscience maybe? They should at least try not to be so obvious about it...

Answered by MM on 02/21/03:

It is odd after watching things like the "Real World" where everyone fucks and gets drunk. It is entertaining like watching a scab harden, but I can't recall the word "dead" or "died" being offensive. In fact, by the time I write this it will have been spoken hundreds of times on the news just before they cut to commercial. No reason to give up though. Just get a real nice tie. Prepare for anything...

I love the video, I've been watching it over and over, and it's been making making me very anxious, waiting for the golden age. I was curious however, is the music you provided the intro track?

Answered by MM on 02/21/03:

The music is another track, I won't say the title, and it may be used as an extra somewhere in the plastic realm. I thought I would leave one suprise by not giving the title to the "INTRO." It does have a name but you will have to wait like a bad little cat until May.

Hello. It is such a shame that we all have to fight for your time. Forgive us ...our core intention is good. I have noticed your selection of music video directors in the past. My question: Are there other directors you have your eye on to work with on this album's singles (or possibly future album singles)?

Answered by MM on 02/21/03:

I don't aspire to be a "music video" director, but I plan to do this first one and probably the second one myself. Directing real films, which I have begun (secretly), is my love and true calling I believe. I can paint with sound and shapes and the senses. I am fond of Helnwein's collaboration and I think we are such a dangerous team.

Dear Marilyn, i am not sure if you have been asked this before, but what is your opinion on the war 'situation'? I am in Australia, and honestly, i am scared shitless that we are in danger. On the one hand, i know that there must be some way to find Saddam and make him pay for all he has done, but on the other, Bush has been pushing so much, and 'our' prime minister Howard had only asked the opinion of a small majority of our 20million population. If you had the power that Bush had, how would you deal with what is going on right now? Thanks, Emma.

Answered by MM on 02/21/03:

All I can say is that the theatre of the grotesk and vaudeville houses were created to help people's minds escape. Even though things are painted in such ugly media colors to scare and nauseate us---This makes me feel an obligation more than ever to be a magician and make the troubles vanish for a few moments. The sleight of hand. I want to make people feel something that make their lives (and my own) more tolerable.

Are your concepts ever inspired from your dreams while you are sleeping? Or do you get inspiration mostly from people that are currently in your life? Just curious as to what hat you pulled the "Berlin" concept from...

Answered by MM on 02/21/03:

I like the music made there in the days of Zarah Leander as well as the period that Iggy, Bowie and Eno created there. "The Idiot" is one of my favorite albums. The creators were most fearless in the face of danger and I love that. The attraction is visual and emotional and I feel as though I am experiencing similar "artistic" surges and power plugs being yanked out. It is also a metaphor, really. It pertains to several relationships in my past.

IM TROUBLED. Marilyn in one of your responses you implied you are out of money. Is it true you are back to square one financially?

Answered by MM on 02/20/03:

No, and it's really no one's business. I'm just bored with people who assume things that aren't reality. Give me 5 bucks...ha ha. Leave your troubles at the door!

Please answer this tour question: Will you do a full tour on your own to support the album? Or will it be just Ozzfest and a 10 show 'Grotesque Burlesque'? Alot, ALOT of us Manson fans really want to know the answer, because there are SO MANY rumors that you are not touring for real, only with Ozzy. Thanx

Answered by MM on 02/20/03:

The tour dates will be posted soon...but there is a long road ahead of us on our way to and from OZ. I am often seen "the wizard."

It seems that you have involved more in this album, I guess you played piano, guitar,... as you did in the past, But we never saw you playin' live (but guitar & pan flute)!! Trent does it and meny others too, so it's able to reach another musical level on stage. So this is my question Marilyn: WILL YOURSELF PLAY THIS TOUR MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS LIVE??

Answered by MM on 02/20/03:

Maybe my saxophone. Maybe the "victrolady." Jawbone? Who knows? Me.
